Breaking
Beluzia has had new elections, and the DBP has fallen out of power. John Fredrickson has been elected President, and the United Party has become the majority party in Congress. Leaders of the United Party were seen returning to Beluzia protected by military troops. The new President had this to say: "Our government will begin fixing Beluzia after the nation was devastated by the horrendous policies of the past government. We also will bring the leaders who violated our great laws to Justice, they will get what they deserve. Other members of the party will not be prosecuted unless they obstruct justice, become violent or have committed the crimes the leaders have. As it stands their chairman has already been convicted of crimes, and we will give him his just punishment." The new government as already began passing reforms undoing many of the horrendous policies of the Business and Development Party.

Breaking News: huge protests in Beluzia as millions of private employees that have been laid off by private companies that claim the layoffs are caused by the policies of the new government and a huge food shortage in every single privately owned store, “no food!" were seen chanting the protestors, there is also a shortage of other goods, as most stores have all shelves empty and the government has been forced to put price controls, which are not obeyed, a black market has surged and there is hyperinflation of more than 600%, "no toilet paper!", "in Beluzia there is no chicken!", "no milk!", "we are hungry!","elections now"" , "Likatonia Intervene please!" "Fredrickson Out!" between burning tires, Molotov Cocktails and other chants, they have stormed parliament and thrown tomatoes on the face of the new MPs, even though there is a tomato shortage, calling for new elections, jobs a stable currency and food. The government claims that the private companies, which are mostly owned by oligarchs close to the old BDP government, are hoarding all goods in an attempt to crash the economy to destabilize Beluzia and overthrow the democratically elected government, which planned to nationalize and regulate them. And install a pro-business one. There have been violent clashes between government supporters and the opposition.

Kingdom of Beluzia?

November 4349

Politicians from across the political spectrum have been debating the constitutional future of our country. The Constitutional Monarchy Party leader, Connie Stark, tabled the debate in the Beluzian National Congress earlier this week. So far, there have been various declarations of support for the change, which would see Beluzia return to a Kingdom for the first time in centuries. The campaign was launched by supporters of the House of Barbossa, the last of the ancient Royal Houses in Beluzia. Critics have suggested that the rise of President Viktoria Barbossa, the current head of the house, is simply an act of political expediency. However, the President has stated that she would be willing to step aside to ensure a restoration takes place.

Some have argued that the House of Barbossa should be excluded from the succession, however with no other surviving aristocratic families in Beluzia, the choices are few. Short of selecting politicians or celebrities, the Barbossas may be the only hope for a restoration. Republicans are mounting the pressure on the monarchists, and the next election is likely to be seen as referendum on the republic. Image

PRESIDENT LEPERA'S VISIT IN BELUZIA

The President of the Istalian Republic, Oscar Lepera, arrived in Beluzia to visit Istalia's ally, and to talk about affairs with the country's head of state, Ms Barbossa. The country's capital is in full-security mode, which caused communication problems. However, Mr Lepera announced that nonetheless he was greeted very warly, for which he thanks the Beluzian people.
The President visited, other than President Barbossa, two schools, and talked with Beluzians, which apparently "went well", even considering the language barrier. Some of the students spoke Istalian.

Unionist Party Fractures Over Referendum

The Unionist National Executive Committee recently decided to let state parties decided how they will campaign over the upcoming referendum. The votes had no problems in Iker Ado, Negunia, Bailon, and Illiathar. In Parlos Decina, the vote was tied, and was broken by the most senior local official, former President Eric Hamilton. Most commentators expected President Hamilton to side with his daughter, Unionist Leader Angelica Hamilton, and vote against the referendum, but Mr. Hamilton had a different idea...

"I have voted in favor of this referendum because the people should have a say in how their country is run. This presidential system has some problems, but no form of government is perfect. If Beluzians decide if they want to restore the monarchy, I will support it 100%."

Leader Angelica Hamilton looked visibly distraught as she delivered a press conference about the state votes. Her top advisers are split among the top camps: Deputy Leader James Callaghan and former Prime Minister Elizabeth Thatcher in the yes camp, while Congressional Leader Kamala Feinstein and former President Ramon Quintana are firmly in the no camp. When asked if the referendum will cause a permanent split in the party, Leader Hamilton responded with, "This will not affect future working relationships in between party members."

Hamilton is running for President in this upcoming election, if she does not make it to the second round her position as party leader will be jeopardized. Congressional Leader Kamala Feinstein also might be in hot water if the party has a strong showing in Bailon and Illiathar, where the state parties voted in favor of the referendum. If the Hamilton-coalition falls apart, it is widely expected that Deputy Leader Callaghan will take her place as leader, while Prime Minister Thatcher runs for president in the upcoming election. We also might see King Eric Hamilton in the not so distant future.

REFERENDUM IS DEFEATED
The citizens of Beluzia, in a 48-52 margin, voted against restoring the monarchy. Three states voted against the referendum: Negunia (25.77-74.23%), Bailon (44.37-55.63%), and Iker Ado (48.87-51.13%). While Illiathar (58.03-41.97%) and Parlos Decina (61.07-38.93%) voted in favor of the referendum. Many political pundits predicted that the yes vote would would be above 50%, but not exactly the 2/3 majority needed for the referendum to pass.
M
The presidential election took an unexpected turn when incumbent, President Viktoria Barbarossa, announced she would not be running for reelection. Connie Stark received the CMP's nomination, and was polling second to Gerald Nestorigde of the BCR. In an upset, former President Gabriel Florea (KWRF) placed second in the first round beating out Angelica Hamilton (UP), Lingard Kelvin (BPP), and Connie Stark. President Florea and Mr. Nestorigde were polling to a statistical tie, until Congresswoman Hamilton endorsed Florea over his opponent. This energized enough UP voters to head out to the polls, and give Florea a margin of 1 million votes over his opponent.

The BCR-CMP coalition also was defeated in the Congressional election, where they lost a total of 86 seats. The main opposition front (KWRF, BPP, and UP) gained a total of 43 seats, and the Right Wing Party gained 69 seats, allowing them to sit in Congress for the first time. There is currently a hung congress as no one group has an outright majority. President Florea has put forth a possible coalition deal with the BCR, BPP, and UP which would give him above a 2/3 majority.

The BCR-CMP gambit of deregulation and the referendum backfired as they no longer have unilateral control of the presidency or Congress. Their coalition brought drastic changes, but President Florea's unity cabinet will change the political discourse in Beluzia.

Angelica Hamilton Steps Down as Unionist Leader
In a press conference held in Fort Thorne, Angelica Hamilton announced she would be stepping down as Leader of the Unionist Party. Although she was against the referendum, many senior Unionist party officials criticized Hamilton for how she handled referendum and failed to reprimand Congressional Leader Kamala Feinstein. At the same time, there are various party officials who claim Hamilton saved the party by allowing state parties to decide their support for the referendum. This announcement came as a surprise, as even her critics weren't calling for her to stand down.

"It's time for new leadership to guide our party. I have been Leader for the past thirty-five years, and we have accomplished so much. As I am getting older, I find it harder to keep up with the demands of leading this party. There are much more capable, and younger, members that can do a much better job than me. Although I'm stepping down as leader, I will retain my seat in Congress and continue to work for the people of Beluzia." - Congresswoman Angelica Hamilton

Right after her resignation, Deputy Leader James Callaghan took over as Acting Leader. He also announced his candidacy for Unionist Leader. After him, former Prime Minister Elizabeth Thatcher announced her plans to run for leader. Kamala Feinstein also announced her resignation as Congressional Leader (although she had 53 votes to stay on as leader), and her intentions to run for Leader. General Secretary David Peters announced his intentions to run for Deputy Leader, leaving all four major positions on the National Executive Committee open. Under normal circumstances, James Callaghan would've naturally succeeded to the throne, but many members of the party think he betrayed Congresswoman Hamilton in an attempt to get her job. While there are no front-runners for Congressional Leader, names like Aparna Sood, Jeremy O'Connell have been floated around.

The future of party will be decided at the national convention in January 4351 in Fort Thorne. 700 delegates will vote for Leader, Deputy Leader, and General Secretary, while the 100 members of the National Congress will vote for their Congressional Leader.

A month ago the Right Wing Party changed the leadership of Tyler White for Kyler Godwin.
Kyler's first move was to rename the party to the For Beluzia Party and in the recent election gained seats for the relatively new party which is a big win boosting them from 69 seats to 115.
