Brave King Toils in the Fields as the Dihn Suffer

In an unprecedented move, Brave King Nguyen Ahn Vuong was spotted in peasant clothing toiling in the rice patties of northern Kimlien. According to locals, the Brave King left his palace in the capital to help his people farm. The more probably reality is that the price of gasoline has skyrocketed in Kimlien, making the transportation of food across the poor kingdom extremely expensive, thus almost nonexistent.

Trade for the Kingdom has also suffered. Pirates roam the oceans without a care in the world. Once kept in check by the Imperial Yingdalan Navy, criminals prevent ships from traversing the sea lines of communication that connect Dovani to the outside world. Many wonder if the Zensho end times are here or if the gods have punished the Dinhn for their actions.

Rumors are afloat that warlords in the south have been ravaging villages for food supplies, with hopes to create a grain monopoly to hold the nation hostage. Little, of course, can be done. The rag-tag Royal Army is poorly equipped and mostly a palace guard...with no one to guard.

With the poor state of the Kimlien economy, many Dihn families have considered risking their lives for Yingdala. Regardless, Kimlien is a symbol of the Terran financial crisis at its worst.

Indralan tech and science experts welcome in Kimlien, says King Ping Ke

The King of Kimlien, Wáng Ping Ke, declared that immigration, recently prohibited in an effort to contain the spread of the Wolfsheim Plague, is reopened to Indralan experts in the fields of engineering, mathematics, biology, physics, computer science, and other highly technical fields. Employment in these fields has long been comprised in large part by Indralans, and Kimlien must get back to business as usual.

Image
Indrala is renowned in the region for its excellent STEM programs

For their part, Kimlien has long served as a haven for Indralan experts with less traditional approaches to their fields, as the third world nation is very tolerant of scientific experimentation. Dāng Kěn, the capital of Kimlien, has long held a relatively great number of graduates of Indrala's KITE universities, and has been the site of various famous (and infamous) scientific successes and failures.
Just a bunch of shit.

An excerpt from the Kaizhou Inquirer (September 4324): Grand Chancellor Tours Expanded KNU Facilities, Discusses Kimlien Developments:
The Kaizhou Inquirer wrote:The Grand Chancellor was asked to comment on the recent decision undertaken by the King of Kimlien, Wáng Ping Ke, to allow Indralans to immigrate to and work in Kimlien once again, following a travel ban imposed during the height of the Wolfshiem Plague:
It is fantastic that His Majesty has repealed this unfortunate but understandable decision. Of course, also recognizing our close cultural ties, we are happy to extend a hand of fellowship to all former Imperial colonies and celebrate our shared history. We hope that this resumption of relations will lead to greater cooperation and commercial opportunities in the future. As I have often said, it is my belief that free trade frees people. As such, I expect that renewed Indralan investment in Kimlien will not only help the people of that country, but of the entire continent.

Expats flourishing in Dāng Kěn, Rìluò, and Nàmā Tān

The cities of western Kimlien are thriving following the King's decision to reopen immigration to Indralan experts, with as many as 10,000 Indralan immigrants documented in the cities of Dāng Kěn, Rìluò, and Nàmā Tān. These expatriates bring great wealth and prosperity with them, and already several have founded think tanks and programming shops dedicated to solving the problems of their newfound homeland.

Image
Kimlien's westernmost major city, Rìluò, has swarmed with an influx of well educated and wealthy Indralan immigrants

Several of these think tanks, among them Chūxiàn (出现), Jìshù Yōushì (技术优势), and Xiàng Xī (向西) have already begun to yield dividends for their host cities, with great advances made quickly in computing and electrification. Xiàng Xī, headquartered in the slum Qīngxiù Qū (青秀区) district of the capital Dāng Kěn, has begun a massive investment, with Indralan backing, in electrification and modernization of the slum and its surrounding vicinity.

This investment is in preparation for a large facility which will become Kimliem's "premier software development site" according to founder and CEO Kang Wuying. "The next thirty years will be supremely significant for Kimlien," said Mr. Kang to reporters at a tech conference. "With unprecedented access to data and development of Kimlien's infrastructure, we can harness the potential of technology to overcome even the most acute problems facing our society and all of mankind."
Just a bunch of shit.

Xiàng Xī announces major breakthrough in "computationally organized governance" software

Kimlien's Indralan-founded software shop Xiàng Xī (向西) announced its Computationally Organized Governance (COG) software, developed at its Qīngxiù Qū (青秀区) headquarters in Dāng Kěn, which it claims represents a "major breakthrough in the areas of computationally guided economics, governance, and societal planning."

Image
Logo of the COG software suite

"We have always trusted in the market economy, as a civilized species," stated Xiàng Xī CEO and Founder Kang Wuying at the public launch of COG. "But there is incredible room for error in the unbridled market as men attempt to interpret the manifold signs and fluctuations of the vast and globalized economic ecosystem. But because we have access to all kinds of data, with enough computing power, we can create an X-ray machine and a CT machine for the world economy, we can bring scientific precision to economics and systems theory, and we can find the invisible hand. COG promises to be the tool for this task."

In its prototype form, demonstrated at Xiàng Xī's annual tech conference, COG was used to highlight thirty seven "areas of extreme inefficiency" in the governance of the Qīngxiù Qū slum. This brazen demonstration drew gasps from the assembled crowd, who were startled by the recommendations put forward by the software to rectify the inefficiencies, including large and various wage increases and decreases across multiple sectors, as well as various proposed zoning re-designations. Asked to comment, the office of the mayor of Qīngxiù Qū declined.

COG is expected to be available for larger field tests in the next year, according to Kang, and has received interest from various entities from the local to the national level.
Just a bunch of shit.

Do you hear our nation calling?
15 November 4423
Image

An unprecedented fight between nations has broken out. The imperialist, filled with greed, has set in motion the rotten foundations of a so-called Dovani Union. This is done in the name of "colonial nationalism." What is "colonial nationalism," but a tired and essentialist excuse for imperialistic ambition? Can we consider it a Union of equal understanding, when the Xsampan has robbed us of our representation in this illegitimate government? The "colonial nationalist" ethos is "power under unity," and yet our nation is not united with the ambitions of these men; our nation was simply conquered.

Is Dovani one, or is it many? To the imperialist, perhaps all Dovani nations are one; human capital to be wasted in the desire to amass power and wealth. The free man, however, understands that Dovani is many: many different cultures, many different religions and many different values. How can we be forced to be brothers when we do not share ancestors? How can we be one when we are many?

In the course of centuries never have the people of Kimlien lost their desire for independence. From generation to generation they have kept alive the hidden hope in spite of enslavement and oppression by hostile invaders that the time shall come when our bonds will be shattered and the spark of freedom shall ignite.

The time has come not to hope for a spark, but to start a fire!

You may have the word "independence" on your lips but all your chattering will mean nothing if you aren't willing to back it by honour and be willing to sacrifice your blood. If you stand by this word, then you must take arms!

The word "independence" shall also mean nothing if there is not a plan for Kimlien's future. And so it is...

Our nation is calling. Do you hear it? The voice of a young child. The voice of the youngest Đinh Clan scion, descending straight from the ancient Đinh dynasty, echoing through the fields and forests of our land. Revolutionary loyalists have secured him, though the fate of his dear parents is unknown. Together, we will stand in his defence and for his rule to bring harmony to our people once again!

Do you hear our nation calling? You must by now. So... how will you answer?

OOC: of course, propaganda.

Trà Cai falls to Revolutionary Warriors as liberty sweeps across Northern Kimlien
1 December 4424

Green: Control by the Revolution

After two days of fighting, our revolutionary brothers and sisters have secured the township of Trà Cai. Here, the Xsampan imperialists were found in the barn with their pants down, so to speak, completely out-smarted by the superior tiger spirit of our brave warriors. In the first major battle of our War for Independence, our warriors utilized soot camouflage and other tactics to approach the town under the cover of nature.

Loyalists inside Trà Cai assisted the effort, knifing sentries in their sleep as our warriors approached the town. Our soldiers showed very little mercy for the imperialist worms, armed with satchel charges, grenades and assault rifles. Fighting was carried out building-by-building until all the remaining Xsampans surrendered. In all, our warriors captured 82 enemy combatants and killed around 3,430. There were 131 casualties on our side, with 29 wounded. Civilian casualties were minimal, making this a complete and decisive victory in the Battle of Trà Cai. One of the major victories during the battle is having captured thousands of various small arms as well as hundreds of thousands of rounds of munitions, intercepting a vital route from greater Kimlien to Hanzen.

The township of nearly 19,000 greeted our soldiers with great jubilation as they marched into Trà Cai today. Though some damage was caused to local buildings and infrastructure, conscripts are working hand-in-hand with the people of Trá Cai to rebuild and enhance the town.

Image
Soldiers assisting the people of Trá Cai

The victory of our soldiers demonstrates not only their dedication and yearning to be free, but it puts forward a new vision for Kimlien; one in which the nation prospers through communalism and working together for the well-being of the people. All this, inspired by the emergence of the Đinh King, just 11 years old.

Developments over the past three years
1 December 4424 - 1 June 4427
Image
OOC: Was unable to write for a while, and so I am keeping the War in Kimlien up to date through point form
Image
Green: Control by the Revolution OOC Note: Keep in mind that many of the large swathes controlled by rebels include uninhabited and dense jungles

December 4424 - December 4425
The township of Trà Cai falls to Kimlien independence fighters in the Battle of Trà Cai, made central command centre and capital of the proclaimed State of Kimlien;
• Training camps are constructed and operational throughout the dense jungles of the Đông Quan and Quang Thuận Provinces;
• Rebels establish strong propaganda campaigns in villages and towns across Northern Kimlien, earning them the support of thousands of civilians and gaining many, many more recruits;
• Four-year-old Đinh Ái Quốc recognized as King of Kimlien;
• Commanders of rebel battalions select Lê Hiến Mai to become Prime Minister of the State of Kimlien;
Hoàng Văn Thuật appointed Minister of Defence and Commander of the Armed Forces by Prime Minister Lê;
• Rebels begin to encourage ordinary villagers to bear arms.
• Rebels seize control of the highway and farming area from Trà Cai to Hội Nghĩa as well as begin amassing forces around the city in preparation for a siege;

December 4425 - December 4426

• In the Siege of Hội Nghĩa (Dec 4425), rebels take control of the City of Hội Nghĩa. Rebels expected much greater resistance than they received, shelling government buildings, bridges and roads heavily with mortars. Upon entering the town, rebels were only met with a small Xsampan company which was killed in a battle which lasted just 12 hours. Xsampan losses were 1,181 KIA, 109 captured. Rebel losses were 631 KIA, 168 wounded. 144 civilians were killed. Rebels were greeted by the locals as liberators.
• Rebels continue to strengthen and expand jungle trails toward the East in what has become known as the Dragon Trail. The Dragon Trail is a logistical system that runs from the Eastern Coast to the heart of rebel controlled territory. The system provides support, in the form of manpower and materiel, to the rebels from supporters abroad;
• Training camps and rebel bases are established in the jungles of the Phú Chánh Province;
• Training camps and rebel bases are established along the Dragon Trail in preparation to siege Làng Riên (Đông Quan Province) and control the highway from Hanzen;
↳ Rebels take control of the highway, leaving just one route between Đông Quan Province and Hanzen;
In major "Spring Offensive," rebels take control of inland village of Làng Riên as well as the coastal village of Cảng Núi. While Làng Riên was a easy and decisive victory for the rebels (casualties: 81 to 10), rebels faced a much more prepared defensive force in Cảng Núi;
↳ Working on strong intelligence reports, Xsampan forces prepare for imminent invasion of Cảng Núi by launching airstrikes and a heavy artillery bombardment against the surrounding jungle, totally denuding it of cover and damaging rebel offensive preparations;
↳ Fighting in and around Cảng Núi village took much longer than expected for rebels, lasting for over four days;
↳ Naval units from Hanzen were on standby to evacuate the Xsampan forces who knew they would be overrun;
↳ Following the Xsampan retreat, Hanzen naval ships proceeded to heavily shell the village, nearly levelling it and killing hundreds of civilians;
In the end, the rebels paid a very heavy cost for the victory, with 6,337 killed and 1,546 wounded. Alternatively, Xsampan forces retreated relatively unscathed with only 1,936 killed;
↳ 24,988 civilians were killed in the most deadly battle involving innocents.

December 4426 - June 4427
• Rebels continue to expand operational control of rural areas;
• Xsampan-Hanzen forces begin to use napalm and defoliant chemical weapons alongside conventional bombs in wide-scale bombing campaign; hundreds of rebel combatants as well as civilians are killed;
• Xsampan forces begin to retake major tracts of highway leading to Hội Nghĩa.
• Rebel forces prepare to capture the town of Vĩnh Tân, dividing the Phú Chánh Province in two;
• In the Massacre of Hội Nghĩa, Xsampen forces regain control of the City of Hội Nghĩa and burn it to the ground.
↳ 13,331 civilians are killed, as well as 2,118 rebels with 678 wounded;
↳ Around 194 Xsampan soldiers are presumed dead, with many more injured;
Prime Minister Babpiboon claims responsibility for ordering the attack;
↳ Xsampan forces regain control of major highways as greater numbers of troops and equipment pours into Kimlien.
• Rebel forces make gains in the south, building new training camps and bases in remote areas of Bông Gòn, Quang Thuận and Minh Hải.

OOC: Another bullet point update

June 4427 - June 4428
• Xsampa-Hanzen and DU bombing campaign continues, targeting small villages and towns often used by rebels as clandestine bases of operations; thousands of innocent civilians are killed
• Rebels retake Hội Nghĩa and various transport routes near their zones of control
• Rebels launch "Autumn Offensive," making large territorial gains including the villages Uông Lý, Vĩnh Tân, Bạch Đằng and Tân Hiệp.
↳ Due to superior enemy firepower, rebels suffered substantial casualties with a kill ratio of nearly 2:1. In total, 39,823 rebels were KIA to 22,981 on the Xsampa-Hanzen side.

June 4428 - June 4429
• In Battle of Bac Ngãi (July 4428), rebels catch Xsampa-Hanzen forces off-guard securing a decisive and moral-boosting victory in the village of Bac Ngãi.
↳ After having taken the villages of Tân Hiệp and Bạch Đằng, Xsampa-Hanzen strategists assumed that Hiếu Liêm would be the next target, and made territorial gains along the highways leading to rebel-controlled Hội Nghĩa and Bạch Đằng, in addition to substantially bombing these settlements.
↳ Xsampa-Hanzen forces made large scale defensive preparations in Hiếu Liêm.
↳ Meanwhile, rebels under the direct leadership of Commander Hoàng Văn Thuật organized a spectacular logistical feat, wherein artillery, arms and hundreds of thousands of rounds of munitions were transported on foot through the jungle which stretched from Bạch Đằng to Bac Ngãi.
↳ Late in the evening, rebel-leaning forces in Hội Nghĩa launched a small-scale assault from within the village to give the illusion that rebels were planning a strike on Hội Nghĩa.
↳ Simultaneously, rebels began striking defensive fortifications in Bac Ngãi with mortars and artillery fire while rebel fighters rushed into the village, surprising and overwhelming the regiment stationed there.
↳ By late afternoon the next day, rebels had secured the village with comparatively low casualties; in the end, 974 rebels were KIA while 2,859 Xsampans were KIA.
• In September, the State of Indrala recognized the State of Kimlien as the legitimate government of Kimlien, and established an embassy in the provisional capital of Trá Cai, the first nation to do so.
• In November, Prime Minister Lê Hiến Mai mocked King Wangdue for offering an unconditional surrender to the Northern Council:
↳ "We see the weakness of Wangdue as a man and as a leader, and of the concept of "colonial nationalism" which is so soon to capitulate to a foreign aggressor at the first sign of struggle."
↳ "This is not to slight the Northern Council for their efforts against the tyrannical Dovani Union, which are noble, but to question the basis of a political order which has no conviction in its own beliefs."
↳ "Our fight will continue until his regime is crippled beyond recovery. There is no question of transferring power from Wangdue; he cannot transfer that which he does not have."
• Rebels continued to gain territorial control over rural and jungle areas.
• Xsampa-Hanzen forces used their advantage on the sea to shell rebel-held villages of Uông Lý, Nà Kiết and Cảng Núi, resulting in casualties for both combatants and civilians alike, as well as substantial damage to local infrastructure, homes and farms.

June 4429 - June 4430
• In the Fall of Đông Quan, rebels gain control of the largest city in the province of the same name.
↳ While a victory in the end for rebels, the Fall of Đông Quan experienced similar casualties to the Battle of Cảng Núi;
↳ After six days of fighting, rebels secured the city with losses around 4,113 for the rebels and 1,968 for the Xsampa-Hanzen forces;
↳ Due to Đông Quan's high population density, civilian losses were very high at 44,898, with the Xsampa-Hanzen forces undertaking a scorched-earth policy as they had before with Cảng Núi and Hội Nghĩa.
• In "Winter Offensive," rebels consolidate control over rural areas in the north, while expanding control in the southern Bông Gòn and Trà Thanh provinces. Rebels face significant difficulty in moving into Lac An Province, which is where the capital is located along with the majority of Xsampa-aligned forces.
• In April, Prime Minister Lê Hiến Mai laughed at King Wangdue in a speech given to international press at the Indralan embassy in Trá Cai:
↳ "What is there to negotiate? Wangdue already bent over and offered himself to his adversaries when he offered an unconditional surrender!"
↳ "It's funny that this weak man thinks he can command the respect of the Northern Council, much less his own people! We will continue to strike at this fool's flimsy grasp on power and on reality."

Heroic King directly contributes to the war effort

His Majesty, King Đinh Ái Quốc provides medical assistance to fighters after the Siege of Rìluò

His Majesty the King participated in the recent Siege of Rìluò, in which our valiant Armed Forces liberated the coastal city of Rìluò from the imperialists. During the battle, our 17-year-old King led a small group of soldiers on an attack into the city. Receiving information that civilians were trapped within coastal shelling range, His Majesty systematically, and sometimes single-handedly, attacked multiple buildings, killing or driving out enemy forces and rescuing some fourty civilians from the battlefield.

Over the three day siege, the King, while leading his small group, is also credited with twenty-five enemy killed and while capturing a further twenty enemy. Following the liberation of Rìluò, in which our Armed Forces sustained many injuries, His Majesty attended to the wounds of our fearless war heroes. The Siege of Rìluò ended with 13,411 deaths and 7,781 wounded on our side. There were 7,283 enemy killed and 3,109 wounded and captured. Civilian deaths were around 380.

The Siege of Rìluò represents the first major offensive in which the King has personally contributed to the front line war effort. Having been coronated at age 11, the King has spent many years training and being educated. However, His Majesty first entered the war at age 15, serving primarily as a medic while receiving further instruction. Now at age 17, the King is recognized by generals and officials throughout the Armed Forces as "indispensable" to the war effort.

Speaking to soldiers after the offensive, His Majesty shared his wise thoughts:

"To you, soldiers, will belong the immortal honour of redeeming and liberating our nation. Your ancestors smile upon you. A free Kimlien will stand to ensure an enduring peace in southern Dovani."
