Northern Council General Council agrees to reform
May, 4337

Haldor, Kordusia - A General Council meeting of the Northern Council today finished with a brand new structure made for the Northern Council, lead by veteran Dorvish Foreign Ministry civil servant Zanis Herkner the Northern Council announced a new structure. The General Council would remain the same, it would be composed of representatives from member states each of them bearing the Northern Council title of "Permanent Representative" and being responsible for the representation of their respective member state. The General Council would not be lead by an elected Secretary-General and an appointed Deputy Secretary-General, the Secretary-General would be charged with the overall direction of the Northern Council as a whole and be responsible to the member states in the General Council itself. The Secretary-General would chair sessions of the General Council and act on behalf of the bloc when necessary.

The Finance and Economics Council will be transformed into the Finance and Economics Committee and will be charged with handling economic cooperation between states, it was be lead by an appointed Chairperson. The Security and Intelligence Committee will be charged with handling matters of security and intelligence cooperation, this committee, like the Finance and Economics Committee will be lead by an appointed Chairperson. The General Council tabled several other committee creations but reserves the right to create to committees at whim.

Perhaps the largest new component of the Northern Council is the creation of the Joint Headquarters (Dundorfian: Gemeinsames Hauptquartier; Kazulian: Felles hovedkontor) which will be responsible for a multi-national force that will be trained and operate as an international quick response force. The Joint Headquarters will be lead by an appointed Chief of Staff by the General Council. The organization and formation of the bodies of the Joint Headquarters will be detailed as the organization and formations that are assigned to the Northern Council's Joint Headquarters.

Northern Council meets to impose sanctions on Valruzia, possibly Dundorf

Haldor, Kordusia - The Northern Council lead by the newly minted Secretary-General Aayden Staebler, a veteran Dorvish Foreign Ministry civil servant as well as a former Envoy to the Kazulian state from Dorvik has taken up the mantle of Secretary-General after acting Secretary-General Zanis Herkner stepped down after leading a spirited effort to reform the Northern Council. The Secretary-General was joined by the Deputy Secretary-General Runar Kvamme and spoke today at the Finance and Economic Council, chaired by Hutorian banker and former navy officer Jakob Pate, regarding the imposition of sanctions on Valruzia. The Finance and Economic Council meeting discussed the intention and desire of sanctions on Valruzia, it was primarily focused on the bellicose diplomacy that have followed in the wake of Valruzia attempting to influence and puppet Dundorf to do their wishes. Sanctions for Dundorf were on the table but the Dorvish delegation wished to withhold them until a potential diplomatic solution could be reached.

The sanctions include suspension of any and all Valruzian businesses or government activities in Kazulia, Dorvik, Hutori and Luthori. The sanctions also make provisions for respective member state governments to suspend travel to and from Valruzia and allows member states to expel any national registered to Valruzia. Each of these are subject to approval by national governments and legislatures, but it is widely expected that they are supported. Dorvik, Kazulia, Hutori and Luthori make up a cartel of the strongest economies in the world, it is expected that they will also be supported by Narikaton and Darnussia, despite being wartorn the recent efforts at rebuilding underneath the Dorvish and supported by the Northern Council have proved successful.

Erhard Bayer, Dundorfian Minister of Foreign Affairs, addresses the Northern Council

After weeks of preparation, Dundorf's newly-elected Minister of Foreign Affairs, Erhard Bayer, has traveled to the Northern Council Headquarters in Haldor to address members of the Council, primarily Dorvik, to attempt to resolve a dispute of the title of Ludwig III of Dorvik. Bayer also spoke at length of Dorvik's claims that Dundorf had "became a puppet state of Valruzia". Mr. Bayer remained calm and collected as he addressed the delegates, asking that the Dundorfian government would likely compromise with a simple name change in the King's royal title. Interestingly, he conducted his speech in fluent Luthori, with translations being given to other members present at the conference.

Members of the Northern Council, I stand before you today as a man who merely wishes for compromise. This dispute has spiraled wildly out of control, that much we can agree upon. We first brought up this dispute because our coalition partner in Dundorf, the Socialist Unity Party, brought a treaty before our parliament, the People's Chamber, for the ratification of the Dorvish Trade Association and Economic Pact treaty. Our party did not wish to associate ourselves with a monarchy, so our delegates voted no. We then proposed that the King of Dorvik, Ludwig III, omit his position of "Kaiser of the Dundorfian Reich" from his royal title, seeing as though historically, the Dundorfian Reich has been extinct for over two millennia. Upon giving our delegation, Valruzia stood with our beliefs. I'd like to address the claims purported that Dorvik that Dundorf is being controlled by Valruzia. I do not mean to be rude, but you could not be further from the truth. We are by no means a puppet state. We are a socialist republic built upon the proletariat, and we fought for our freedom against the previous forces of the Federal Republic in the 4th Dundorfian Civil War. Since eroding Dundorf's long tradition of isolationism and beginning the subsequent shift to internationalism, it is only natural that a foreign power contact our nation and request for friendly diplomacy. It is the natural order of things. We expected this small debacle to result in what exactly we wished for: a name change. But that has not been the case. The very council I address today and Dorvik have responded brazenly by debating on enacting economic sanctions on our nation. Henceforth, in retaliation, our government will do the same. It is a shame that we will have to do such a thing, but that has unfortunately become the current state of affairs that we find ourselves in.

Dundorfian Minister of Foreign Affairs Bayer agrees to drop Dorvish royal title dispute

After flying back to Haldor, Minister of Foreign Affairs Erhard Bayer agreed to drop the Dorvish royal title dispute that the DDR's ruling party, the VKPD, had with Dorvik's King, Ludwig III. Citing recent political developments within their own party as the cause, the VKPD had agreed fully to resolve the dispute with a compromise, recognizing Ludwig III's title of "Kaiser of the Dundorfian Reich" as a symbolic one.

"Our party has quickly changed under the recent actions of our General Secretary. With the reestablishment of a social democratic faction within our party, and their demands to drop this dispute, to avoid further political instability, we have obliged them. We are in the processes of repealing any actions taken against Dorvik, and have also began to repeal our drafts of economic and travel sanctions on them as well. We hope that our nations can forget this dispute and achieve bipartisan agreements in regards to trade, so that Dundorf may prosper."

Northern Council announces formation of Northern Development Bank
January, 4346

Benekial, Hutori - The Northern Council opened a new state of the art headquarters building earlier last year in Benekial, outside stood the Secretary-General Aayden Staebler and Deputy Secretary-General Runar Kvamme who spoke today regarding the formal announcement of the Northern Development Bank. The Northern Development Bank was planned inside of the Finance and Economic Committee of the Northern Council and was officially passed earlier last year with the initial planning stage. The new bank seeks to expand the Northern Council's growing influence throughout the world and it's likely that the Northern Development Bank will find it's first client in Narikaton and Darnussia, the Northern Development Bank will overtake an old financial center located in Skalm, Kazulia.

The Northern Development Bank will be governed by an elected President, who is elected by an appointed Board of Governors (representatives from national banking institutions, financial ministries and economic ministries) and the Board of Directors (representatives from leading financial, banking and economic businesses, institutions). The President will be responsible to the Board of Governors and the Board of Governors will act as the final approval for the actions of the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors will be governed by a Chairperson, elected and approved by the President and the Board of Governors. The President is the chairperson of the Board of Governors.

The Northern Council has committed roughly 50b LOD to the startup of the Northern Development Bank. The first President of the NDB will be Luthorian central bank vice president Michael Burton. The NDB will open regional offices in Wasse am Kas, Haldor in Dorvik and in Benekial, Hutori.

The Kingdom of Dorvik and the Northern Council welcome the detente with the Dundorfian Democratic Republic. King and Kaiser Ludwig V/IV personally welcomed the potential opening of relations with the Dundorfian Democratic Republic a in a brief speech to the State Council, he also welcomed the tact of then-State Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Foreign affairs Karlheinz Franz von Farber for his diplomatic tact and handling of a potentially hostile situation.
