DELTARIAN CIVIL WAR COMES TO A CLOSE
Following intense negotiations both sides have agreed on the creation of a Grand republic

At the Deltarian capital Čachtice peace negotiations have been going on for quite some time. Akigo, the czarist government and the SU have now finally reached an agreement.

While the opposition would have rather seen the preservation of the current Republic they know that without compromise the civil war would drag on for years.
Therefor the sides have agreed upon the creation of a Grand Republic. In this grant republic a special "Grand Council" made up of 5 prominent Thaller family members will be established. This Grand Council is set up like a supreme court. It helps the president and prime minister in deciding upon official foreign policy, it is tasked with deciding upon big dillema's in court and the Council also advises the President and Prime Minister. Both the President and PM also have an obligation to report anything the Grand Council deems important to the Grand Council.

The council also advises the president on the creation of the best coalition possible but the president is still the one in charge of creating coalitions. But the council can approve or dissaprove of the president's decision publicly.

This system gives power to the Grand Council of Thaller's but preserves the democratic republic since the PM and president are still responsible for decisionmaking.

Some within SU circles have rejected this compromise and call it "a pact with the devil" but SU leaders see this as the only possibility and lasting peace.

In the conflict over 4.000 deltarians were killed. It was mostly confined to small skirmishes.

100 Years of Thaller Presence in 4359

Below: Szoke Norbert Von Thaller- Founder of the Deltarian Thaller Branch in the early days

In five years, it will have been a century since the first Thaller of the Deltarian Branch became involved in politics. 95 Years ago, Szoke Norbert I Von Thaller, a Half Dundorfian, Half Deltarian Noble made the decision to go into politics and founded the Blue Thallerist Alliance. During this time, Deltaria was a republic yet had only one real major party, the Deltarian Civic Forum. In the task of gaining power in Deltaria, Szoke Norbert was originally aided by Red (Socialist) Thallerists but spent the first few years on the back foot as the ruling civic forum put laws in place to limit the proposals a party could make which made it increasingly difficult for new parties to build a profile. Additionally, noble titles were banned in what many say was a direct move against the Thallerists. Eventually, the Civic Forum petered away and in 4263, Szoke Norbert was elected as Governor General of Deltaria. It was during this time that steps were made to create a monarchy and so he was made Czar in 4265. During this time, many measures were taken to liberalise the economy and increase the civil liberties of the citizens as per the classically liberal ideology of the Blue Thallerist Alliance. Szoke Norbert remained as Czar until 4279 when Deltaria became a republic once again after a severe electoral defeat against three opposition parties.

After 10 years of staying out of politics and planning a comeback, the Thallerists returned under the leadership of Norbert I, Szoke Norbert's eldest son. He led a stunning electoral comeback, becoming the largest party in Deltaria and only a coalition of all the other parties prevented full Thallerist control of the Government. Norbert I was elected as President and led Deltaria to victory against the breif Jelbek Invasion. Following many years of political debates, the monarchy was restored yet again in 4309 and Norbert I was crowned was Czar with many important dignitaries coming from all over to see the event. Norbert I, Szoke Norbert and Norbert's 3 eldest sons were killed in 4332 in a bombing in the capital which led to Nikolai taking the crown.

Nikolai, blamed members of the Kalopian Government for the attack and eventually invaded, seizing much of Northern Kalopia before retreating in the face of severe international opposition and diplomatic isolation. After this setback, he became increasingly authoritarian at home eventually leading to crackdowns on opposition parties and another electoral defeat in 4352. Following the defeat, Nikolai was convinced the socialists had rigged the election due to the massive change in seat numbers and attempted a coup that failed in taking complete control but managed to take control of some key regions. Augustin, the son of Nikolai's Elder Brother, split the family in two between those loyal to the Czar and those loyal to the new republic. New elections resulted in the Thallerists winning a majority in Deltaria again and peace negotiations led to a peace treaty which is in the process of being ratified. Deltaria will become a Grand Republic with a Council of 5 Thallers having significant authority.

Today, we see that the Deltarian economy for better or for worse is far more liberalised and capitalistic than it used to be with fewer regulations and lower taxes. Civil Liberties have also been greatly expanded. The impacts are clear and proponents and critics will debate the effects of these policies for years to come. The Thallerists have also invested far more funds into the military and this was proven in the breif Jelbek War and the breif invasion of Kalopia. As a result, Deltaria has grown in its power and has become an important power in Majatra. For the past 95 years, its been a rough path for the Thallers but success has always followed them in the end and with the current situation, it seems their influence will remain in Deltaria for years to come.

Former Czar Nikolai heads to Narikaton

Following the events of the Deltarian Civil War, Nikolai I von Thaller has decided to move to Narikaton, the ancestral seat of House Thaller. Having lost his position in Deltaria but with the Thaller Dynasty still in power, Nikolai apparently decided to move on. Rumours have circulated for some time that he may have been behind the bombings that killed the previous Czar Norbert I as an excuse to go to war with Kalopia but nothing has been proven. Perhaps the former Czar saw the current government’s preoccupation with running the new system to flee before authorities finally started to investigate him. The 46 year old has ruled Deltaria for around 20 years. It is unknown whether he will continue in a political sense within Narikaton or if he will instead permanently retire.

Members of Thallerist Grand Council Named

For the past few years, an interim council consisting of five members of the Thaller Family have run the Grand Council of Deltaria. As of now, they have been confirmed as permanent members until death, resignation or a vote of removal by the other 4 members. Should a seat be empty, the incumbent members have the task of selecting the Thaller who will take up that position. Should they fail to reach an agreement, non council members of the Thaller family will be given one vote each and a process of elimination would occur until one candidate has 50% of the votes or more.

The current members of the council are as follows

1: Augustin I Von Thaller-35 - Leader of the Moderate Faction of the Thallerists- Joined With the Republicans to Oppose the Czarist Forces in the war
2: Norbert II Von Thaller- 28- Younger Brother of Augustin I- Part of the Thallerist Moderate Faction that joined the Republican Forces in the Civil War- Models himself on his grandfather Norbert I the 2nd Czar of Deltaria
3: Szoke Norbert II Von Thaller- 26 - Czar Nikolai I's First Son- Leader of the Radical Faction in the Thaller Family- Sided with the Monarchists in the Civil War
4: Farkas I Von Thaller- 82- Younger Brother of Norbert I Von Thaller- Stayed Neutral in the civil war- Leader of the Centre Faction in the Deltarian Thaller Branch
5: Adalwolf I Von Thaller- 22- Younger Brother of Szoke Norbert II Von Thaller, only member of the Council to have seen combat in the civil war- Sided with the Monarchists and is credited with 10 kills in a small skirmish near the Capital. Also brokered the alliance between Doron Akigo and the Czarists due to his Akigan Mother.

SU ANNOUNCES REFORMS
The SU announces a set of educational reforms

The Socialist Union has proposed a few education reforms in front of the People's Hall earlier today. In the reform the educational system would change from a voluntary one to a compulsory one and a National Curriculum will be created which serves as an advisory tool for schools to streamline their educational material.

It is important for our children that they go to school and have an education. By making education compulsory we give our children more chances on the market and a better chance at a job. This is just a first step in the further development of Deltaria and we are happy to see that the MTA is also in favour of this proposal which will pass. Our children will have a better education from this day onward!

Said secretary general of the SU Kamil Novak.
This is the first step for the SU in creating a stronger Deltaria. According to the party they want to achieve a modern democratic nation with all the modern institutions it should have.

Even with the political tensions of these times we think we have achieved something admirable. We have put our differences aside and reached a compromise between party's that would otherwise not have given away so easily and that is something to be proud of. It may be uneasy and it may not be perfect but at least we did the hard thing. compromise.

Said Kamil Novak

SU WANTS NEGOTIATIONS ON THE FUTURE OF THE NOBILITY
The SU has send a formal request to the Grand Council and government in which they ask for a debate on the future of nobility in Deltaria

Our party believes that the nobility has powers that reach to far for a modern democratic nation. We would like to start a healthy debate between all sides to try and come to a compromise in lowering the authority of nobility.
We know it plays a large role in Deltarian history but nobility should not have the power to intervene in political matters. That is just not of our time.

Said Pravoslav Kozar during a republican conference in Bălgrad

Reports from within the MTA seem to suggest that they are open for a discussion. But as we have seen

SU ANNOUNCES NAMECHANGE
"The old name was for a dark time. We are past that" says Eduard Povýšil cultural director of the SU

The Socialist Union has announced a name change. The party leadership has given Eduard Povýšil cultural director of the SU the task to rename the party to fit a modern era.

The Socialist Union's name was used to symbolize the united struggle of the deltarian people against the czarist regime. The Czar is no more and while our nation should still stand united the union in the name reminds us all of those dark times. Therefor i have decided that the name of "Social Democratic People's Party or in czech Sociálně demokratická lidová strana (SDLS)" is more suitable for our current form. We are Social Democratic. We are fighting for our citizens and we are a party. the perfect combo

Said Eduard Povýšil. The new name will be taken into effect immediately. First feedback of SU supporters is positive although some think the namechange is unnecessary. A new logo has also been launched together with a more darker color red as the party color.

The party leadership has also changed. A new committee has been set up called the "Democratic Socialist Committee" or DSC. This committee has been created to oversee the various human rights programs of the party and also to monitor the entire party on corruption in an effort to remove and prevent corruption in party ranks.
