President Holman Welcomes Valérie Forestier-LaSalle
Three-day state visit will reinforce cooperation between Dorvik and État Canrillaise de Lourenne

Image
Robert Holman welcomes Valérie Forestier-LaSalle to his official residence.

President Holman today welcomed President Valérie Forestier-LaSalle of État Canrillaise de Lourenne to Dorvik on a three-day state visit. The two presidents are expected to discuss a wide range of issues, from environmental policy to the possible formation of a new International Health Organisation to tackle cross-border pandemics. Forestier-LaSalle, who succeeded 13-year-president Julienne Valoir-D'Orléans last year, is embarking on an international tour in order to assert her own foreign policy agenda; Dorvik is the first country on that list.

As part of the visit, President Holman has organised a conference at the University of Kordusia on Savant Syndrome with neurological experts from both countries taking part; as is customary on state visits, an area with personal interest to the hosting head of state is accorded some time on the official agenda. Visits to Westmark and Miktar will also take place.

A press conference will be held at the end of the visit.

Herman Gluck Supports Party of the Far Sun

Herman Gluck has agreed that "conservative forces should band together" against the Alliance for Progress and has agreed to a proposed right-wing cabinet.

However, Gluck also had to retract his previous statement saying the New Dorvik alliance had agreed to support the Alliance for Progress if the communists were kept at bay: "Obviously, I meant if there was no alternative. Don't let the fake news trick you. I trust the public to understand what I mean, to understand the situation. Fake news liberal elitist scum shan't ever respect the intelligence of the people, but I certainly do."

Gluck has however supported DNS' article and said there was "nothing wrong" with it in his eyes.

DNP Homeless Shelters Accused of Racism

The DNP funded homeless shelters around the country, of which there are four, currently, have been immensely helpful in convincing the populace that the DNP are not as heartless and far-right as they initially seem. But that image appears to have been shattered this week when several Dorvish citizens have complained that they were turned away because “they told us we weren’t citizens, they told us to the go home.”

All of the complaints come from non-white or non-Hosian citizens, who t seems the DNP are reluctant to assist.

Herman Gluck has announced that a full investigation will take place, while the shelters themselves have claimed they were only turned away because the shelters were at full capacity. More as it happens.

The Chancellor,Stella Schultz:-
Image

After Months of Uncertainty,A New Government has been formed in Dorvik,Under the Arrangement,The Rote Bewegung agreed to support the Government from the Outside and a Cabinet Comprising of the GLP,HVV, Centrist Party and the SDP.While Speaking to Reporters outside the State Council,The New Chancellor,Mrs.Stella Schultz,Requested the "Far Right"to Refrain from Criticizing the Government without giving it a fair chance. She said that the Right Wing"s Arrogance was what led to its Poorer-Than-Expected Performance in last elections. She Stated that the Alliance for Progress is not extremist and said that The PdWS is a party which believes in "Bringing Dorvik back by Two Thousand Years"and that it believes in Aristocracy and not Meritocracy. She also praised the HVV For Working across the political spectrum for the betterment of Dorvik. She Expressed Confidence in the Arrangement and said that the Coalition would complete it's full four year term and Provide Dorvik with "Social And Economic Stability"

In Other News:-
Haldorians Land in Key Cabinet Positions

MPs From Haldor have landed in Several Important Cabinet Positions other than the Federal Chancellory,Greens Katrina Olsen and Sunita Wilson,Both Being MPs From The Haldor Metropolitan Area have been appointed as Finance and Defence Ministers Respectively. It is also to be noted that both of them are On Different Sides of the Party,Ms.Olsen,Who will be Finance Minister,Is Said to be on the Moderate,Social Liberal Wing Of the Party and is more fiscally conservative than the Party as a whole,She has also said that she would look into reducing the Deficit,Which is currently at a Staggering 17 BN DDO,She said that she would be presenting a new tax proposal once the GLPs Coalition Partners are consulted.

Meanwhile Ms.Sunita Wilson,Will possibly be the First Person of Mixed Origin to sit in the Cabinet in as many years,She was Born to a Dovanian Immigrant Mother and Dorvish Father. She is most notably one of the most Ardent Supporter of Abolishing WMDs in the GLP and is from the Left of the Party,She Says that she supports Banning the Use of Landmines and Nuclear Weapons but it is said that she has been stopped from going ahead with her proposals by the Chancellor Herself.

All things considered,Haldor is More Represented in this Cabinet than in previous years,Which could charge the Right Wing"s Accusation that the GLP is Too "Kordusia Centric".

FA Battle: PR Victory For Fischer? PR Victory for Weiss? // DNS

Image
Above: ADA Leader, Esther Fischer.

Today the FA was ablaze over the proposal from the New Dorvik alliance to enslave prisoners of war. It is widely seen as a far-right and 'fascist' policy, as Justice Minister Julia Weiss said, with the bill debate becoming a metaphorical bloodbath which descended into anger and heated debate almost instantly. The first comment on the bill was from Fischer herself, who co-authored the legislation, in which she defended and explained the bill by saying captured soldiers 'will have to work for our nation, rather than be trying to destroy it'. However, the response from the government was swift and explosive: 'this proposal is disgraceful', said Justice Minister Julia Weiss. Soon came in the PWS leader Christop Wiegand, who supported Fischer and said that Weiss was unable to understand the explanation given to her by Fischer originally. He also said that the people of Dorvik should 'reconsider' their voting for the coalition parties.

But Weiss bit back, saying that 'the fact that you have to offer an explanation of what this bill entails shows how ridiculous it is' and also saying it went against internationally-agreed human rights standards. Her first comment there was hotly debated on social media, as jibes were traded all over the internet already. Wiegand echoed the common right-wing point that explanations are 'common things' in life. Weiss bit back again, saying it was a 'right-wing fantasy' of Wiegand's to institute the legislation. The debate continued from then on to be bogged down on the point of 'stability and temperance', which Weiss took as meaning specifically regarding the bill itself - Fischer would later come back and say that was an overarching point, and this bill had other motives, while stating the PWS is not in the New Dorvik alliance. More trade of accusations of propaganda and general bitterness went back and forth in the FA.

Fischer came back to the debate with some real fire, asking Weiss if she was 'scared'. Weiss originally took the accusation that the government was built on parties known to leave government as an attack on the centrists, but this was later clarified by Fischer to be a jab at the HVV. At this point, everyone had been dragged into this ferocious debate. Soon, Fischer was being called a 'fascist' by Weiss - a move that angered many social media users and New Dorvik supporters who saw it as a cheap ploy. Then came a new debate topic, as to why the HVV left the last coalition. Weiss claimed they also left because the ADA was too far-right, but Fischer disputed that and claimed the HVV left due to a disagreement on justice policy. In fact, Fischer showed that the HVV actually accused the ADA of being to left wing! DNS has fact-checked to show that at least some of this is true, and that the HVV did not leave the cabinet due to ADA being too right, but instead for supporting rehabilitation-oriented justice.

From then on in, Weiss wobbled a bit as Fischer had at the start - two skilled debaters at odds. She went on to accuse the PWS and ADA of having different positions within the alliance, but Fischer pointed out they are not in the same alliance - though they might as well be. But it was Chancellor Schultz who then chimed in, in a burst that has been mocked on social media. She claimed the ADA 'took people for granted' and were 'arrogant', and this is what drove the HVV away. Again, this has been fact-checked by DNS as technically false, and the two prior accusations seem to have came from nowhere. This gave massive fuel to the far-right's internal fire, in a way which the Chancellor didn't intend. Already, 93% of New Dorvik supporters 'would never vote for Schultz', a staggering number. Therefore, perhaps, this has actually been a victory for Fischer in shoring up her base. Later interjections for calm came from the DNP, but it was too late. The debate continues, with the government having took on Fischer in a 3v1. It seems Fischer has played her cards interestingly. The next three years will be very interesting indeed.

Fractured Parliament Sees Intense Debate
Newly appointed Justice Minister Julia Weiss leads opposition to DNP proposal to ‘enslave’ POWs.

Image
Julia Weiss leaving parliament following the debate.

With ten parties now represented in the Federal Assembly, debates were always going to be more livelier than in the recent past. However, no one expected yesterday’s turbulent, four-hour debate involving Justice Minister Julia Weiss.

While a bill tabled by the the DNP to ‘enslave’ POWs was met with anger and derision by the government benches, opposition parties ensured that their support for the motion was never left in question. Addressing numerous party leaders and backbenchers, Julia Weiss argued that:

If our own POWs were ‘enslaved’ by a foreign state, we would not tolerate such treatment. Dorvik should not become involved in a race-to-the-bottom on this issue.

The proposal, which will be voted on by Assembly Members in the coming weeks, certainly provided entertainment to a group of second-year university politics students who watched from the gallery. One said:

No one could accuse politics of being boring now! I thoroughly enjoyed this afternoon.

Throughout the proceedings, Ms. Weiss proved to be a very competent and skilled debater. The ADA’s Esther Fischer also showed her worth. If anything came from the debate, perhaps it is this: politics has become deeply divided. ADA supporters believed Fischer had won the debate, while Centrist voters overwhelmingly favoured Weiss. If this afternoon is anything to go by, the next three years will be very interesting indeed.

MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS CONFIRMS CONTACT WITH MEDINIAN AUTHORITIES
Minister of Foreign Affairs Stella Felgenhauer confirms that "contact has been established" between dorvik and Medina

After Felgenhauer got installed as Foreign minister she immediately got to work. The situation in Medina has been on the eye of many experts and governments for some time now and Felgenhauer confirms that the Dorvish government has now established contacts with Medina itself to "resolve the major tensions between Medina and Utembo"

Image
Minister Felgenhauer during an interview

Our administration is extremely concerned on the situation that is developing in Utembo. Medina has a responsibility to de-escalate this brewing conflict. My ministry has therefor established contact with Medinian authority's to make clear that this situation cannot persist. We have offered our help in possible negotiations. I cant go in full detail but we have made it clear that Medina should take its responsibility to de-escalate and we are currently awaiting a Medinian response.

Said Foreign Minister Felgenhauer. She also commented on the situation in Dankuk.

We are of the understanding that Dankuk authority's have been making steps to deescalation and peace in the region. They have learned from their mistakes and while their is still some concern over the military reforms and expansions of the Dankuk government we are optimistic on the future of the country. They have signed a non aggression pact with their former enemy Kazulia which gives us even more trust in the future. We see no reason for sanctions or embargoes and encourage the Dankuk government to continue on their current path

INTERNAL MINISTER SCHAU STAYS AT HIS POST
Minister of Internal Affairs Maik Schau stays as internal minister after being the main reason for the previous government falling

In Haldor it was announced that Internal Minister Schau shall stay as minister of Internal Affairs. Schau has been controversial for being the man that brought down the previous right wing government. But his views are popular in the HVV itself and he has a lot of support from Hauke. Schau stays at his position of minister and has promised the people that "i will do everything in my power to crackdown on crime and make this nation one of security" He is preparing a similiar proposal he made earlier which saw controversy for taking away criminals right to vote.

We should not reward criminals. We should warn them and make sure that whatever petty crime they committed will not be committed again. ADA has created the fantasy that even kids who steal candy will lose the right to vote later on. This is not the case at all since children that steal candy wont be labelled as criminals and would not get a criminal record.

Said Schau during an interview. We will keep a close eye on all these story's

Finance Minister Olsen:-"Deficit Reduction will be our number one priority"

Ms.Olsen Addressing Reporters in Haldor:-

Image

While Addressing Reporters here in Haldor for the first time since she became Finance Minister,Ms.Katrina Olsen made it clear that Deficit Reduction will be her top priority. She pointed out to the Fact That there is a 17 BN DDO Deficit Currently and she said that a Balanced Budget is the need of the hour,This Goes Against the GLPs Election Manifesto which called for Greater Spending and Actually Increasing the deficit for a four year period. When Grilled by Reporters on the Particular Campaign Promise,She said that increasing the deficit was "frankly not an option"and that she has always been personally averse to deficit spending as it causes inflation. She said that Her Intention is to leave behind a "Debt Free Dorvik For our Future Generations".

She said that her ministry is looking into the possibility of raising Luxury Taxes and Reintroducing the VAT on Essential Goods at a Rate of 1%.She stated that the 1% VAT will have a "Negligible Impact"and that the Government will also Increase Minimum Wages and the Universal Basic Income. She said that Some Reduction in Spending would also be made as a temporary measure. She also stated that the Corporate Tax would not go up and that the Government will instead focus on closing existing loopholes and cracking down on Tax Evasion.

Fischer Leadership Challenge Incoming? // DNS

Image
Above: Former Ministers Florence Kirsch & Jean-Claude Schlechter.

Last month, former ADA ministers Florence Kirsch & Jean-Claude Schlechter were married at a small, private ceremony in their hometown in Largonia. Kirsch was previously Environment and Tourism Minister, and Schlechter was Minister for Food and Agriculture - where the two unmarried politicians first met and ended up dating. While Esther Fischer publicly congratulated the couple on social media, she must know deep in her heart that something is not right here. Both have clear political aspirations, and both are part of the remaining centrist branch of the ADA who have grown to despise Fischer for leading their party so far to the right. Both also are wildly popular among that centrist branch, and would be seen by many others as a pathway to winning back support and the chance at partaking in a government. So with all of that in mind, is there a chance that Fischer could soon face a leadership challenge?

The history books do not tell the best story for Kirsch and Schlechter. Kirsch ran against Fischer when she was first elected and lost heavily to the then Foreign Minister, losing in the end by a hefty two-to-one margin. That suggests a very uphill battle for Kirsch to climb in the membership, needing - at least - over 200,000 of the membership to change their mind and vote for her despite having previously voted against Fischer. Fischer also has shored up her own support within the party by pandering to the majority right-wing membership, which makes her position almost unassailable for the time being. Schlechter, meanwhile, lost the party's Presidential primaries to Jan-Henrik Hatrig - albeit by a very narrow margin. Unlike in his wife's tale, Schlechter was so narrowly defeated there is definitely support for him within the party. Furthermore, Hatrig was later defeated heavily while Fischer has only seen the party lose 10 seats.

However, there are several key differences between now and when the two newlyweds were respectively defeated by Fischer and Hatrig. Firstly, and most importantly, is that Fischer has had several hiccups as leader. She has not increased the party's seat or vote tally, in fact she has minorly decreased both. She has also alienated former allies like the Centrist Party and HVV, which has meant the ADA has been ejected from government while having seats in the Federal Assembly for the first time in the party's history. That a key problem for Fischer, who has lost some support from the status quo who fear she will lead them to being non-electable. Secondly, and also very importantly, Fischer's new alliance - New Dorvik - needs to gain a significant amount of seats in order to win the next election. Even factoring in probable KRA and PWS coalition arrangements, they are still a while off and are having to face a big-tent opponent as the more extreme faction.

However, key differences exist the other way around. Fischer has made an image for herself as a motivating speaker and strong debater due to Federal Assembly shenanigans and her rallying cry after the latest round of elections. She has also succeeded in uniting the right of the DVP, DNP and ADA into one alliance. That alliance, if combined with the KRA and PWS, need 34 seats to win the next election - a big ask, but a perfectly plausible one. The Presidency is also likely to be once more in-play with the entirety of New Dorvik behind one, unified candidate. Yet still, the many things going wrong for Fischer mean the party membership can still end up dumping her for somebody on the centrist wing of the party. United as a centrist and an insurgent duo, Kirsch and Schlechter are widely expected to challenge Fischer closer to the election. Fischer is not seen as likely to win the election, but the chance at becoming Chancellor is tantalisingly close.
