Winter Crisis Looms for Health Services
Worst Dorvik winter in half a century places enormous strain on health services, particularly in the north of the country.

The ongoing Dorvik winter, the worst since 4328, has seen day-time temperatures drop to as low as -31 degrees Celsius and snow drifts up to three metres high. Although the country’s year-round subarctic climate means that public services are usually well prepared, this year’s cold snap has been particularly brutal. Health services have been especially affected; figures released by the Health Department show that there has been a 39% increase in patient admittance during the last two weeks. Furthermore, just 67.4% of Accident and Emergency patients were treated within four hours, far below the 95% stipulated by government ministers.

Some ambulance services have been suspended after a number of vehicles became trapped in snow.

In a statement to the Federal Assembly, Health and Social Care Minister Elias Werner announced:
Extra emergency funding has been released to health care providers to deal with the increased number of patients. Of course, winter is the worst time for illnesses and this is year is proving to be no exception. The government is currently doing everything possible to mitigate the effects of this year’s abnormally low temperatures. We ask that people take care of themselves and only call the emergency services if they feel it is absolutely necessary.

President Holman, a doctor by profession, volunteered his services at Haldor Central Hospital. Speaking briefly to reporters as he entered the hospital, Holman said:
We can all make a difference. I encourage people who can help, to do so.

Given that weather forecasts are predicting no let-up in the adverse conditions, an emergency cabinet meeting will be held later this week to discuss further steps in helping health services.

New Dorvik Set to Expand

When the ADA and DNP united to form a right-wing alliance recently, their first joint policy caused a massive stir in Parliament with people on all parties jumping in to have their say. Now, the DVP have also joined the alliance, and rumours are circling that the PdWS are also looking to get in on the group.

This appears to be the first major steps towards uniting the right, and pitches Gluck, Fischer and the other leaders as key players, not just leaders of small opposition parties. There are also rumours the group is looking to expand to include other right-wing parties too, but this is still uncertain.

Now commanding 234 seats in the legislature, can an organised, united right defeat the left? Or will the older Alliance for Progress reign victorious?
I go by Ashley now and use she/her pronouns. This is a really old account, I don’t play now.

I was a mod in classic for a bit, then I helped make Marcapada and WM there for a while. As of 2020 I’m co-ordinating Pachapay’s development.

AGREEMENT REACHED
The Dorvish government has reached a agreement with the Medinese sultan on an armistice

After intense negotiations and months of uncertainty the Dorvish government and the Medinese government have finally reached a concensus.
The Medinese Sultan agreed to sign a armistice for the duration of half a year in order to discuss possible lasting peace between Medina and Utembo.

While we would have rather seen Medinese forces removed from Utembo territory we are glad the Sultan has agreed to this temporary armistice. It will give us, the international community, the time to organize peacetalks and get the 2 opposing sides at the table. We are planning on creating a summit to be held in Haldor that will launch peacetalks. We are currently negotiating with both sides on a suitable date for this summit

Said Foreign Minister Felgenhauer

Reports from Utembo suggest that Medinese forces have indeed stopped their advance and major fighting has halted in the region.

HVV JOINS NEW DORVIK
The HVV has joined the New Dorvik electoral alliance

After a meeting between the ministerial candidates and party leadership the HVV has decided to join the right wing "New Dorvik" alliance.
It was an unexpected move, the HVV is currently in government with mostly left wing party's and has worked with them fairly well. Some experts even suggested that the HVV may join the left wing "Alliance for Progress". But after much internal debate the party decided that the right should be united.

We have worked fantastically with our left wing partners but we think that the right has for to long been dominated by personal pride and this has been standing in the way of any real unity. We should create a strong right wing bloc that can deal with the nations problems head on. We have proved to the people that we are an excellent governing party and that we can cooperate with anyone but ofcourse we would prefer a right wing coalition to truly push our agenda more effectively.

Hauke at the public party meeting

Said Benjamin Hauke during the public party meeting.

With most of the right alligned with New Dorvik and the left with the Alliance for progress it will be a true battle between left and right in the election of 4378. If New Dorvik wins they could be in a position to create a true right wing coalition. something that hasnt been done in years.

HVV Denied Membership To New Dorvik // DNS

Image
Above: ADA Leader Esther Fischer

New Dorvik has denied membership to the HVV despite their attempt to join the alliance. The HVV, who are in government at the moment, sought to join the opposition group in order to fight for the right in the next election - but the parties currently in New Dorvik felt otherwise. All parties in the alliance must consent to new membership, and both the Party of the Far Sun and the ADA refused to support them in joining the alliance. While negotiations did take place between the party and alliance, they did not result in agreement and instead saw the HVV refused entry to the right-wing alliance. This came as a shock to many after the HVV had been open about wanting to enter a right wing alliance, saying that though he thought that 'the right has for to long been dominated by personal pride', he wanted 'strong right wing bloc that can deal with the nations problems head on' - but the ADA and PWS cut that idea off quickly.

Both the ADA and PWS gave their main reason for barring entry as being 'disloyalty' shown by the HVV to the right. The HVV left their last government coalition over a disagreement in justice policy, a scar that has damaged the ADA's image of its fellow right-wingers and has made the party a highly unpopular one amongst the ADA's top dogs. Even some who are plotting to oust Fischer dislike them. Esther Fischer and Tina Thorn both chose to veto the membership bid, while the PWS gave their own statement saying that they did not want the HVV in the coalition as they had sided with the left in government over supporting the right. One right-wing local to Haldor told DNS on the street he 'didn't support the HVV so that they would go and prop up the left, and to be honest I've really been reconsidering my vote'. That doesn't mean the HVV will lose seats, however, they're not project to lose many or any in most polls.

Where this leaves the HVV is hard to determine. It could be taken as a sign of disloyalty by the left, and another right-wing party chosen in their stead at the next election. It could mean nothing in the end, and the government is actually solidified. Alternatively, the HVV could wiggle their way into the New Dorvik alliance through changing the mind of the parties within in. That would likely take time, however, and also would not be a job best done by Hauke - who Fischer privately refers to as 'the skunk' due to his black-and-white hair and 'general smelliness', as she is said to have told a colleague. With that kind of terminology involved, it is doubt-worthy the HVV is getting in New Dorvik anytime soon. Twice-failed presidential candidate Hossler was also trying to become the alliance's presidential candidate - which, in conclusion to this article, was called by one ADA member: 'the stupidest bullshit I've ever heard, utterly impossible'.

Yes, it was Tina Thorn.

Christoph Enkelmann Takes Over Father's Job // DNS

In September, ten years after he had founded the party, Peter Enklemann officially stepped down as the leader of the far-left party 'the Red Movement'. He had seen many other parties change their leadership, but had always remained a steady and enduring figure in the politics of Dorvik. Now, the leader of what was once called 'Rise Up!', has passed on the mantle to another Enklemann - his son Christoph Enkelmann. As the oldest Enklemann son, Christoph has the name recognition already and a large amount of his party supporting him. Internal sources claim that the Enklemann lineage is very popular within the party. While many on the far-right have called this an example of a dictatorial-style example of nepotism, many others see it as a solidification of the family and of the Red Movement's political identity. With a well-known name behind them, the Reds have a distinct possibility of one day entering government.

Widespread Discontent With Red Movement's Religious Proposal // DNS

Image
Above: This woman, carrying a sign in Luthori so she would be understand internationally, was one of hundreds at a rally against the bill in rural Largonia.

The right-wing in the country have been up in arms at the Red Movement's proposal to ban not only the advertisement of and education via religion, but to ban religion altogether. The proposal, called by the right the 'thought crime bill', has literally no support amongst ADA membership particularly and basically none in the rest of the right. The vast majority of membership in all parties but the Red Movement oppose it, as do a clear 85% of the public. Only 8% of the public actually support it, with 7% unsure. That makes this the most unpopular legislation put before the country in recent history. The Hosian community has been in uproar since the bill's proposal, with many church memberships and leaders from all faiths condemning the legislation. In fact, some priests, bishops, imams and rabbis are even telling their congregation directly that it is against God's will to vote for them in the upcoming election.

It has 101 votes at the time of this article, with the support of the Red Movement that proposed it and surprisingly the DVP. The New Dorvik alliance have formally asked the DVP to change their vote, and many in the membership of the DVP expect this to be a misreading of the bill or even a technical error that will soon be resolved. If the DVP is supportive of the banning of religion, their removal from New Dorvik would be all but certain and it would cause even more division on the right. The bill is opposed by the ADA, HVV, Centrists, KRA and DNP - a very wide-spanning group of parties from both alliances and both from the government and also from the opposition. The bill will almost certainly be defeated lest the GLP and PWS vote for it, which is extremely unlikely. The PWS particularly is a very religious party with a very religious membership, and the GLP are not radical enough to support it.

Regardless of the lack of feasible paths to being passed, the proposal of the legislation caused utter outrage across the country. In the FA, Esther Fischer - who leads the ADA - was the first person to shout down the bill. 'This is by far the most horrendous thing we have ever seen proposed to this chamber,' she said, certainly not mincing her words and portraying utter outrage at the proposal. Herman Gluck said that 'this is a ridiculous bill', and both mentioned politicians incited the idea of 'thought-crime' being made reality from the legislation. Maik Shau, HVV Minister of Internal Affairs, was also damning - saying the legislation was something he thought to 'only exist in communist dictatorships.' Across the country, especially the very religious southern states, there were massive rallies with hundreds to thousands against the bill. That's a clear sign of massive public disapproval.

New Dorvik has released a statement calling for the Alliance for Progress to revoke the membership of the Red Movement, saying that no alliance should tolerate such legislation and such extremely negative and divisive attempts to 'control the human mind'. Again talking about thought-crime, former Foreign Minister Esther Fischer said to reporters today that 'there would be hell to pay if the Alliance for Progress kept them as members, and especially if they entered government'. Asked what 'hell' would come to be payed, Fischer was clear in saying 'as I said in the FA, I think that massive numbers of people would be willing to take to the streets, in fact we're already seeing that, and there would likely be massive instability and calls for resignations'. Fischer may, however, fully expect the Red Movement to be kept on - and even want it to happen, due to the lasting damage it could have on the left.

PdWS Leadership Battle

Long-time Leader Christoph Wiegand formerly of the Thallerist Hosian Union and now chairman of the PdWS has been challenged by mulitple figures in the party. Not only the notorious Maximilian von Thaller but also by Dimitri Schacht. Wiegand is a very experienced and by now rather famous politician in Dorvik. In both Far-Right, Conservative and Market-Liberal circles Wiegand is a well liked individual. The PdWS still a new party have achieved a massive Victory with Wiegand leading them, the coming election will show if the future of the party is Wiegand, Thaller or Schacht. It is also quite controversial if the decision of joining New Dorvik has somehow damaged the internal reputation of Wiegand in the party. Most of the members like to see the right united, others state that it would sell the party below its value. The election campaigning just started in a cooperative manner with the other parties of New Dorvik, PdWS has problems mobilizing its members probably another reasonf or Wiegands authority to be challenged. Many political experts excitedly look towards the next general elections as it will decide if Dorvik chooses a progressive or a conservative future.

MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS REACTS ON SITUATION IN BIANJIE
Stella Felgenhauer reacts on the reported genocide of the Indralan minority in Bianjie

The Minister of Foreign affairs has reacted on the CHA report on the possible genocide in Bianjie. The CHA reported a possible genocide of the indralan minority following an investigation at a mass grave in the country. All sampled individuals in the grave proved to be Indralan.

Our ministry is working closely with our international partners into figuring out a strong response to these inhumane practises. If the report is correct and an entire minority is the victim of genocide we should respond with strength and decisiveness and nothing less. This crime against humanity must not stand if proved to be true. We are on high alert and have already informed the Assembly on possible reactions to this concerning situation.

Image
Foreign Affairs minister Felgenhauer when asked about the situation in Bianjie

Indrala has not yet responded to the report but many within Indralan government circles talk of utmost shock to the findings of the CHA.
People from all over Terra are speaking of an outrage and call for action. "this cannot happen in such a modern world as ours!" said a social media user and "We have to do something!" said another.

While the situation worsens the international community will have to respond. We will keep you up to date on any developments.

INTERNAL AFFAIRS MINISTER SCHAU "ROTE IS THREATENING STABILITY"
Internal minister Schau has said that Rote is threatening the stability of the Republic

In a unexpected twist of events Internal Minister Maik Schau has said that "Rote is actively undermining the stability and security of our nation" following the RB proposal to ban religion and international media content and the bills to censor the internet.

We are not a dictatorship. Proposing such outrageous laws goes against every normal principle we have as a free and democratic nation. It also further divides our communities and promotes hatred to both religious and non religious citizens. These proposals made by Rote undermines the stability and security of the nation and this is why i am more then happy that they got repelled, we, as representatives of this nation, should always make sure that these outrageous, dictatorial and oppressive laws will never pass the Assembly.

Schau has urged party's to find a solution to the growing divide in society as it "will create dangerous situations and can even develop into acts of violence instigated by hatred" Schau would like to see party's propose laws to actively protect the population from such threats and "close the divide in society"

Former Biochemist Suzanne Reuter Wins New Dorvik Presidential Nomination // DNS

Image
Above: ADA FA member and former biochemist, Suzanne Reuter.

After a long and competitive four-way primary battle, Suzanne Reuter has appeared as the successful candidate in seeking the New Dorvik presidential nomination. She was the clear favourite from the off and won 50% of the total vote of all parties' membership ballots. She won the majority of ADA and plurality of DVP and PWS votes. Her opponents were to the right of her, and were seen to split the membership's far-right vote. Reuter was seen as the more big-tent and moderate candidate, being on the left of her own party's caucus. She was, however, focusing on economic issues rather than the dominant social ones of the New Dorvik alliance membership. Schoenberg, an avowed nationalist, focused more on social issues like citizenship rights and a hard-line on justice. Schauss represented the far-right of his own party, and was disavowed by many. Steichen represented the right-wing between the other candidates, and focused on retaining a strong military.

Nearly 500,000 ballots were cast in Miktar, resulting in a routing victory for Reuter in her home state. With the endorsement of Florence Kirsch and Jean-Claude Schlechter, Reuter united the centre-right and most of the right under her banner, and was able to defeat her more right-wing opponents who split the far-right vote. Schoenberg was left in second with 25% of the vote and Schauss and Steichen got less than 10% of the vote. Over 400,000 ballots were cast in Dorvan, and the result was yet another major victory for Reuter and her centre-right alliance. She won 45% of the vote and left Schoenberg and Schauss battling for second with 21% and 24% respectively. Steichen was left with only 9% of the vote, and left the contest endorsing Schoenberg. The party leadership of all member parties remained officially neutral, but much of the ADA supported Reuter while the remaining parties were struck between the three remaining candidates.

Around 450,000 ballots were cast in Largonia, resulting in a tiny victory for Schoenberg over Reuter - a margin of just over 2,000 votes only. Schauss again won just over 20% of the vote, with no notable endorsements and so dropped out of the race and like Steichen endorsed Schoenberg. Reuter has a very large overall lead at the point, and was considered the presumptive nominee. In Westmark over 530,000 votes were cast, making it the largest prize of the primary season. It went to Schoenberg by a wider-than-expected margin, but still was not enough to come close to topping Reuter. Reuter at this point had an overall leader of just under 900,000 votes to Schoenberg's just over 710,000, and with Kordusia expected to go for Reuter it was deemed impossible for Schoenberg to catch up, though she did not step down. It would require a massive landslide for Schoenberg to win, which would be hard to make happen.

That landslide did not come, and in fact Reuter won convincingly in Kordusia where only just over 290,000 votes were cast - despite it being Schoenberg's home state. Reuter won nearly two-thirds of the vote in a final landslide, and was made the New Dorvik presidential nominee - receiving the endorsements of all of her competitors and the entirety of the ADA. Reuter will go on the contest the presidency for New Dorvik. She has a more moderate appeal, and has the support of at least the ADA and likely the PWS and DNP. It is unknown if the DVP will support her, as no statement has yet been made by them, though as New Dorvik members they likely could at least in the second round. Reuter will also possibly pick up second-round support from the non-New Dorvik KRA so as to provide conservative unity. She also will possibly even get HVV endorsement in the second round, if the HVV seeks to forsake its government membership - though HVV-ADA relations are especially sour after the HVV was not accepted into New Dorvik.
