Vice President Lion announces Likatonia will finally participate

Vice President Lion announcing the veto
Clovisport, Likatonia
The Likatonian House of Representatives passed earlier this month a resolution urging Likatonia to not participate in the Olympics. The resolution was pulled in by right wing parties following the tensions that arised some years ago between the governments of Valruzia and Likatonia, after Republican Centrist President Walker deployed troops near the Likatonian-Valruzian border. He alleged there was classified information about Valruzian troops near the border, information emphatically denied by Valruzia and for which proof has not been known yet.
Nevertheless, the current government has decided to veto this resolution. Vice President Lion has confirmed this earlier today. It does not come as a surprise, since President Walker's left wing administration has kept a good relation with Valruzia since he took office. In consequence, the whole Likatonian delegation will be competing at the Olympics under the national flag as expected. The decision has already been sent to the Likatonian Olympics Committee, which will manage further details with the Valruzian and International Olympic Committees.
79 Likatonian athletes are qualified for the 4380 Olympic Games, including world champions Kyle Goodwin (rhytmic gymnastics), Anna Wilson (rowing), the national female beach volley team, as well as the currently ranked world's #4 tennis player, Oscar Daler.
