PRESIDENT JABARI ELECTED IN A LANDSLIDE

President Elewasi Jabari celebrates his victory with his running mate, Ayisha Omiata

KUGA - The incumbent President Elewasi Jabari was elected to his second and final term with an overwhelming 74,23% of the vote.
The Electoral Commission of Kurageri reports that the President recieved 1,731,215 votes. The official turnout was very simmillar to the last presidential election with over 98% people voting.
The landslide re-election is a sign of the people's approval of the president's agenda. The Kuragi President is currently leading the country to a path of westernization.
Under his leadership the country has already seen a massive growth and experts agree that this trend won't change in the near future

4380 Olympics will be held in Nowogard, Valruzia

KUGA - With their nation quickly developing and society progressing, sportsmen from all corners of Kurageri have expressed their wishes to participate in the next Olympic Games.
For quite some time numerous public figures have lobbied for the creation of the Kuragi Olympic Committee operating in accordance to the IOC Rules as well as other, more specific sport Committees.
This did not go unnoticed and the Kurageri Olympic Committee has been recently created. This however does not confirm Kurageri's right to participate in the Oympic Games of 4380.
In a series of videos Kuragi sportsmen state their wishes to participate in what would be the first Olympic Games for them as representatives of their own nation.
The sportsmen and women have recieved support from the Kuragi government with the President himself making an appearance in one of the videos.

Revisiting Kurageri after over 60 years since it's reformation | KBC News
Kuga, August, 4436
Image
Kuga, the Kuragi capital, is the country's most advanced city

KUGA - After over 60 years since it's initial reformation Kurageri has seen enormous progress.
Since 4370 it's GDP has tripled as did it's population - all thanks to the improving economical situation.
The country's infrastructure has been expanded and cars - what once was an enormous luxury - are now part of everyday life.
The poor situation of the country's educational system is long gone.
While not ideal or even near to Terra's leading countries' systems Kurageri government was able to establish it's educational system in a way that managed to provide necessary education to all of it's citizens.
Farming is still the backbone of the country. It did however go through a modernization process. Tractors are now avaible to farmers thanks to subsidies provided by the government.
Electricity is now present in the contry's darkest corners, providing them with light they needed.
Kurageri does however have it's own problems. With nations of the world at war in their continent Kurageri might not be able to defend itself from a potential invasion.
It's Army and Air Force are poorly equiped with out-dated equipment and it's navy almost non-existent.
If the government was to improve nation's defence situation it would have to either spend enormous amounts of money all across it's teritories of size it cannot phathom or turn to foreign governments which might not be too enthusiastic about reinforcing a Dovani country during a massive war against the Dovani Union.

CIVIL WAR BREAKS OUT IN KURAGERI
Could this spell the end to Kurageri prosperity

After years of building tensions between left and right wing parties a civil conflict has broken out between the right-wing west and left-wing east. While the left wing east controls most urban zones, the right is completely backed by the military. The left wingers quickly scrambled to form militias with the little millitary around to meet the advancing western forces. The stage had been set and only time will tell what the future will be for Kurageri.

Right-Wing Nationalists Declare Victory in Civil War|KBC News
Civil war finally ends in Kurageri!!!

Today nationalist party leader Bwana Mkubwa and new president of Kurageri declared that;

The threat of communism and disparity is no more!

Image
President Bwana Mkubwa announcing nationalist victory

The civil war in Kurageri has raged on for a little more than 8 years starting back in April 4501. With the front line being a stand still for almost seven years before General Simba
broke through and encircled thousands of communist forces allowing nationalist forces to push back the front line. Victory after victory and encirclement after encirclement
pushed the communist further back until eventually losing their capital and the war. Many communist solider are now being tried on the accounts of treason and could face up too
life prison sentences. With only a couple communist strongholds still resisting it is safe to say that Kurageri is firmly in Nationalist hands. The nationalist have many new obstacles
they must face as they are now tasked with rebuilding an entire nation. President Bwana Mkubwa says that he has big plans for Kurageri and optimistic about what the future holds
for this great nation. At least one thing remains for certain, this is a new chapter in Kurageri history and we are very exited to see what the future entails.

Keambiroiro Rises In Polls, May Face Andaiye In Second Round
Image
Image
Above: Keambiroiro and TWK's latest poll between the big three candidates.
Image

Ashon Keambiroiro, the leader of the populist Stand Up party, has risen significantly in polling leading up to the upcoming presidential election and now stands at 24% of the vote, narrowly ahead of Sefu Chitundu, the nominee of the centre-right Democratic National Party - who has 21% of the vote. This could allow Keambiroiro to enter the second round, due to take place a week after the first round - meaning he will be facing the incumbent President Afiya Andaiye. Andaiye, the first female president in over a hundred years, is running on the ticket of the socially conservative, economically centre-left Reform Party that currently dominates national politics.

Keambiroiro and Stand Up have ran on a campaign based around xenophobia, irredentism and appeals to national pride. They have been unambiguously opposed to migration and the presence of non-indigenous peoples in Kurageri, as well as attacking the Vascanian Empire and other nearby powers as 'shadowy, negative influences on our economy'. Mr Keambiroiro himself has been a twenty-year member of parliament, elected for the rural Zawadu constituency. His party has struggled in the 207-seat legislature to expand past around a dozen representatives, mostly in rural areas and in the south.

The legislative election, occurring under an Alternative Vote system, will see the DNP and Stand Up try to topple the Reform majority. They must make sure that President Andaiye's party is also too small to form a coalition with the left-wing KiWa party (derived from the Kurageri phrase 'Group of Workers'), which would lead to the government coming out even more left-wing that it otherwise would be. The only other group with any chance of winning seats is the Umoja ('Union') which is almost unanimously supported by the nation's Kunihito minority and supports moderate, liberal politics.

Keambiroiro & Stand Up Win Big
Image

Kurageri's political establishment has been shocked by the sudden and unexpected victory of the populist, nationalist Stand Up party (Kuragao: Simama; stylised "Simama!"). The party has won a near-majority in the legislature and its leader, the ultranationalist MP Ashon Keambiroiro, has defeated the incumbent President Afiya Andaiye despite polls showing her consistently ahead in head-to-heads. It had been thought that Simama would only make very modest gains, especially considering the alternative vote system has generally favoured moderate parties in the past. This was clearly not the case by 11pm on election night, as booth after booth came in for Simama.

The reasons for Keambiroiro's success is likely due to two factors: centre-right voters where much more willing to lend their second preferences to Simama than was previously expected; turnout was up dramatically in poorer and rural parts of the nation. Outside of the relatively prosperous capital of Kuga and other modernised, coastal cities, the majority of Kurageri remains underdeveloped. These working class voters were expected to stay at home, as they historically have done, but instead turnout rose from 57% to a record 76%. Most of these voters seem to have broken for Simama, and they have also supported the party's leader's presidential bid.

Simama had been expected to make gains in the northern, mountainous state of Atangwa. In fact, they won 63% of the vote in the two-party preferred vote against the Reform Party - taking 17 of 20 seats with them. In Borata, they won 59% of the two-party preferred vote and took 16 of 24 seats. The centre-right candidates and the liberal ones completely collapsed as Simama washed the map in blue, cannibalising their potential coalition allies. The raw vote tallies remained consistent for all parties besides Stand Up, who benefited immensely from the turnout surge.

The south, where Simama had previously found its most strength, did not see comparable turnout surges - though turnout still increased a fair bit and Simama took 52% of the TPP-vote in Ingoiro and 27 of 44 seats. The party consistently received support in the rest of the rural land, with a reliable base of agricultural workers turning out to support the populist policies of Stand Up and their leader. Their advance was hampered in the metropolitan regions like the capital Kuga, where the Reform Party increased its vote tally and hung on percentage-wise. Only half a dozen of the 34 Kuga metropolitan seats will be held by Simama. Simama will likely form a legislative alliance with the centre-right CKK to hold power.

The Presidency

Even more shocking than the legislative results were the presidential ones. Mr Keambiroiro had been looked upon by metropolitan people as a 'clown' and a 'buffoon'. They had expected him to fall apart in the first round, even as polls showed him increase his support over time. Combined with the unexpected surge of rural turnout, President Andaiye was unable to make up the margin between her and Mr Keambiroiro even as she ran up huge margins in Kuga's inner metropolis. She won over 70% of the vote in central Kuga, but lost by comparable margins throughout the entire north - with only the occasional speck of green on the coasts.

Her defeat in the second round, with a result of 56.0% to 44.0%, has damaged hopes of political equity for women in Kurageri. Mrs Andaiye was seen as a sign of change in a male-dominated political culture and was expected to win by a margin of around 10 points. Instead, she will be replaced by a man who has made repeated disparaging comments about women; her political party in the legislature losing 18 female members, and her opponent's bringing in only 9 new ones out of 75 gains they made. Mrs Andaiye made a gracious concession speech, but said her days in politics were not over yet - leading to speculation she may run for her old job of Kuga City Mayor.

Vascania Invades Kurageri Territory
Image

Vascania, our treacherous neighbour to the south, has invaded Kurageri's territory in a blatant and unprovoked act of war. They sent their largest and most powerful ships to the Avara archipelago, which we have controlled for many, many centuries, and planted their blue flag in the soil. This was accompanied by devil-worship, as is a common practise among the people of Vascania. The whole charade took a few hours, but has erased years of good relations between our nation and theirs. Their motivations were the expansion of their already large oil reserves, stealing wealth right from under the noses of another nation.

The President, Ashon Keambiroiro, has today declared Vascania 'an enemy of the Kurageri people' in a speech to the parliament. He received a standing ovation from all sides of the isle after announcing that Kurageri's navy will be responding soon. The Kurageri Navy lacks the large destroyers, corvettes and frigates of the Vascanian one, but possesses eight missile boats, six large patrol boats and five torpedo boats capable of inflicting great damage to larger warships. All of these ships will arrive at the site of the islands in a short time, and the President has promised that they will 'rip the Vascanian rag out of the ground and set it alight'. Vascania's largest ships have withdrew from the region, but the nation has placed a single corvette and a three large patrol boats nearby to respond to Kurageri's defences. The President has been clear that this force cannot stand up to Kurageri's full naval power and will retreat when the force comes close.

Brave Kurageri Fighters Sink VIS Paristan!
Image

Our enemies, the Vascanians, have been defeated on the high seas by our brave naval forces. A group of ships, armed with torpedoes and rockets, used their superior speed and maneuverability to attack the Vascanian corvette VIS Paristan which had been priorly wounded in a naval clash between our nations. The death toll on the Vascanian side is expected to be high, though their government has not confirmed the number killed. The ship was able to fire just once from its forward gun before a torpedo ripped through its side, hitting one of our vessels. The boat exploded, leaving around two dozen of our own soldiers dead.

The battle is our first victory in the war over the Avara archipelago. The ships we sank was traversing the seas alone, without the support of patrol boats. This made it vulnerable to our attack. We have also successfully landed a patrol boat on the Gayata island, and ripped the Vascanian flag out of the ground. The flag was then desecrated and burnt. Our navy has the major advantage of being much quicker than the Vascanian one, even though it has dangerous weaponry. The President declared a day of celebration, and promised that the Vascanian destroyer VIS Dolostipe will also be targeted for its involvement in the attack on Gayata island. The Vascanian morale is greatly affected.
