Results of the Election

Following the recent results of the snap election, Republican League leader Chen Tianwei has seemed to be desperate to save his 'Republican Revolution' from downturn. As the votes went in, supporters in the headquarters in Tian'an were hopeless, with many returning home early. By the time Chen conceded the election, the Headquarters was only half full. The once great revolutionary movement now, crumbled into pieces. The entire Republican camp lost seats left and right, while the government gained votes by the millions.

However, the Nationalist Alliance provided a great opportunity for the League to rise as the Right-wing counterpart of the party collapsed following the elections, leaving sixty-odd seats vacant. Immediately following the news, the League and Chen moved to hold early elections again, hoping to sweep up the votes of nationalists in Indrala. However, this was criticised by many in the League as a desperate power grab, giving up the ideas of political stability and order. It seems, Chen may have become desperate and anxious.

TIAXI, Anle Province: Around 2,000 people gathered in a convention center in Tiaxi to celebrate the ISP's maiden election fight.
Numerous supporters, most of them young, were overjoyed by what would normally seem like an underwhelming result.
The Independent Socialist Party won 19 seats with little less than 3% of the popular vote.
In a joyful speech Fan Wu thanked all of his supporters and promised fighting for socialist and republican values in the future.

FM Sung: 'We will rebuild the Black Tortoise Fleet,' fight for national service
Foreign Minister and Lotus Party President Sung Hyo-rin spent her day at an army base outside of Jugang, Jiaozhi

JUGANG, Jiaozhi: Following a stunning coalition re-election, Foreign Minister and Lotus Party President Sung Hyo-rin vowed that her party would "put in motion all resources to rebuild the Black Tortoise Fleet."

The Black Tortoise Fleet, once regarded as the "most famous and elite" fleet of the Imperial Navy, and indeed among those of the world, has disintegrated over the years as the Indralan government has viewed economic prosperity as the most important policy objective. According to Sung, this can no longer be the case.

"As the world becomes more and more unstable, we cannot afford to neglect the security of our people," said Sung, "and as an island nation, we have to pay special attention to our naval capabilities."

In addition to increased piracy in the Southern Anantonese Ocean, Indrala has also received direct security threats. Until this point, the Coast Guard has been able to inoculate Indrala from most threats, however Sung fears that a decline in Indralan power is not good for Terra at large.

"We cannot shirk in our responsibility to protect free people at home and around the world," Sung said, "to do so would be to disgrace the moral integrity of our nation."

Sung said that her party will be introducing legislation in the Grand Assembly to enhance the defence budget and issue exploratory shipbuilding contracts with domestic shipbuilders, however Sung has said that foreign acquisitions are not off the table.

Sung also invited the media to speak with a number of young conscripts at the military base as she consulted them with regard to the opposition's National Service Reform Act (ISP-06). The act would effectively end Indrala's one-hundred year tradition of national service. One such soldier, Sergeant Lü Jiamin, 20, was visibly emotional as he discussed what the changes represented to him.

"I was someone who really had no future," said Lü, "I came from a dirt spoon family, my uncles had been involved in crime. My mother became blind when I was 14 and cannot work. The discipline of the Imperial Armed Forces turned my life around. With my salary I was able to take care of my family. It's just so sad that the next generation of young men won't get this opportunity."

Hearing the Sergeant's story, Sung declared that her party would continue to fight for the National Service program. Speaking to those gathered in the room, Sung said that "the national cohesion and fraternity that comes from National Service is essential to our nation. National Service strips away all barriers of class and status and gives all young Indralans the opportunity to work for their common community."

Speaking to the Independent Socialists who introduced the bill, Sung simply said that "Leader Gao was right. This Metzist-dominated party has no interest in preserving what makes Indrala unique. We need to be wary of such extremists."

Emperor sends gifts to Prefect, King of Vanuku following decision on Dankuk
Chief Secretary says gifts are "an expression of the Emperor's admiration of Vanukean support for the people of Indrala"

NATIONWIDE NEWS: On the direction of the Emperor, the Imperial Household Agency has sent a number of gifts to the Prefect Adlé Akedkáhe of Vanuku as well as King Wrntukai V of Vanuku. According to Chief Secretary Li Yan of the IHA, the Emperor had a number of reasons to send the gifts.

"His Imperial Majesty, the Son of Heaven, desires to bring together all people under heaven and carried by earth," said Li, "to this end, it is His Imperial Majesty's sagacious desire to seek closer ties with our historic ally, the Lion."

Additionally, Li said that the Emperor, acting in his role as Commander-in-Chief and Head of State, wished to confer his sincere feelings following Vanuku's decision to sever ties with Dankuk.

"It also brought the Son of Heaven great satisfaction to see that Vanuku has rejected the Dranian regime's evil Great Dovani Co-Prosperity Summit," said Li. Commentators in Indrala have largely dismissed the Summit, which makes broad claims regarding the supposed imperialist tendencies of Indrala. While many have viewed the criticism of Kazulia as understandable, the attacks against Indrala are based in propaganda and decade-spanning tensions.

To the Prefect of Vankuku, the Emperor send a bottle of deep green baijiu liquor, brewed from high-altitude grains in the Min Province. To the King, the Emperor sent a thirty-year aged wild ginseng root. By ounce, the ginseng root is worth almost twice as much as gold. The Emperor also commissioned a traditional silk scroll painting of the vast Woestenij Desert to be sent among the gifts for the King.

The Imperial Household Agency, on behalf of the Emperor, extended an invitation to the administration of Vanuku for a state visit to Indrala.

Fan Wu ousted, replaced by Song Ru

After a moderate wave within the party Song Ru was elected as the new ISP Chairwoman.

MUDANWAN, Min Province: After a pleasant showing in the early election and a moderate flood within the Independent Socialist Party, the moderates have decided to replace the now former Chairman Fan Wu.
In it's place their elected their faction leader Song Ru, known for her more traditionalist stance and her ability to reach a compromise. The latter helped her to convince the more radical elements in the party to stand behind her after her election.

In her inaugural speech, during the second ISP Party Convention this year, Song Ru promised to lead the party towards more mainstream policies and politics while maintaining the party's crucial policy points. The party's platform was amended by promising to maintain a "big part" of Indralan traditions, including - but not necessarily limited to - maintaining the national service in it's current form. Mrs. Ru cited the current policy's "fairly moderate approach to the issue" as one of the reasons for her decision. Song Ru also mentioned the recently published story of Sergeant Lü Jiamin in order to point out the current policy's positive impact on Indralans.

Song Ru and her supporters traded the "Republican issue" for internal support. This means that the ISP - or PLP (Progressive Labour Party) as it is currently known - will still back republicanism, hoping to change the way republican advocates are percieved, in favour of a more reasonable, moderate and balanced image.

The biggest change made during the Party Convention was the renaming of the ISP. As of 24 April 4386 the party will be known as the Progressive Labour Party. This change was done in order to moderate the party's overall image. Changes also apply to party's color scheme, changing it from light red to green. Song Ru also promised to unveil a new logo "soon".

Results of the Election

With another election within 2 years, the 4386 General Election ended with an underwhelming 'victory' for the Republican League. The vote share of the League increased slightly from 6% to below 10%, landing a second-to-last finish just above the Progressive Labour Party. Despite Chen's thought of changing the party's fate by absorbing support from the Nationalist Alliance, he simply failed his task as the Monarchists remain firmly in power.

However, it goes without saying that the Republican gained 5% of votes in the election, making its sizeable minority grow to 35,09%. Meanwhile, the Communist Party regains first place in the Parliament. Facing these news, expelled members Zhang Wei and Jiang Zongren resurfaced to condemn Chen, declaring him a 'failed leader for a failed revolution', calling for a return to the free-market and moderate programme.

Chief Counselor: Kazulian trip an "expression of goodwill," but Indrala "remains wary"

Gao speaks to students at Kyung-hee Imperial University

YINCHENG, Jiaozhi: Following a diplomatic trip from the Kazulian President Sindre Granberg, Chief Counselor Gao Yifen says that Indrala appreciates the trip as an "expression of goodwill" but that Indrala "remains wary" of Kazulia's ambitions.

"Frankly, it is understandable that many, many Indralans are uncomfortable with Kazulia," Gao told a group of students at Kyung-hee Imperial University, "and as the elected representatives of the Indralan people, we were sure to confer this to the President."

Relations between Tian'an and Skalm have been tense ever since the 4329 declassification of Kazulian plans to invade the officially pacifistic and neutral Republic of Indrala. In 4349, plans were made for an official apology from the Kazulian government to be delivered in Tian'an, but Skalm did not follow through. In 4355, the Armed Forces held a drill in international waters near Northern Dovani to test the reaction from Dankuk, but were instead met by Kazulian warships.

The bilateral relationship also deteriorated over Kazulia's invasion of Dankuk in 4370, which the Indralan government characterized as "heavy-handed, rash and influenced by imperialistic tendencies."

"My role is to put Indrala first," said Gao, "and to this end, I must say candidly that we have no interest in being a pawn to bolster Kazulia's standing in the world. Any future relationship must be predicated on an understanding of mutual respect and reciprocity."

Despite his firm statements on the broader relationship, Gao said that Indrala supports the Northern Council's actions in Bianjie. Further, Gao said that Indrala desires to expand its trading relationship with Kazulia, the strongest economy in Northern Dovani.

"Helping to facilitate social and commercial ties between our people is the greatest hope to expand our partnership in the future."

OPINION: Indrala must endeavour to rebuild ties between the Dragon and the Lion

Left: Scroll painting, comissioned by the Emperor, of his favourite mare (white) next to the Vanukuean stallion (black); Right: The Imperial Palace

Written by: Yang Hong

On the fifth of November, 4383, the rapist and so-called Prince of Dankuk Yeong Tae-kyo gave an imperialistic speech to the Great Dovani Co-Prosperity Summit. In this speech, the rapist of Dankuk makes many broad and salacious claims about the Son of Heaven and his democratically-elected government. In recognition of the superiority of truth, the honourable Vanukean government, which had been invited to this gathering of Terran vermin, severed all ties to Dankuk.

Out of appreciation for these actions, His Imperial Majesty the Son of Heaven send gifts to the Prefect and to the King of Vanuku. In response, the King of Vanuku sent a gift to His Imperial Majesty; a prized stallion of the Temrkai's breed. This great honour was received by the Emperor with pronounced gratitude, who intends to breed the stallion with his favoured mare. In a sense, a knot shall be formed between the Lion and the Dragon once again.

We must strike while the iron is hot. The historical alliance between the Lion (Vanuku) and the Dragon (Indrala), which illuminated the world with the torch of justice matched by unrivalled strength, must once again be reborn. The Vanukean Prefect was correct: Indrala is in a period of Renascentia. But so too is Vanuku, which has broken from the shackles of authoritarian republicanism and has reinstated the King's pragmatic and judicious governance. With our two nations on the rise, we must work together closely.

A clear recognition of the importance of this relationship is found with His Imperial Majesty directly. It is our Holy Emperor who has offered to host and meet with the Vanukean King, the first time in which the Son of Heaven has expressed his willingness to meet with a foreign Head of State personally. Whether the political situation of Vanuku will allow the King to leave is another issue, but the offering by His Imperial Majesty is symbolic enough.

The Coalition government is also moving at full steam to prepare a meeting with their counterparts, as well as receive the assistance of the Vanukean Shipyard Havendam in rebuilding the Black Tortoise Fleet. Hopefully this meeting will resolve in a binding and official resolution between the Lion and the Dragon.

Indrala sees protests against National Renewal and Republican League
Tens of thousands of protesters took to the streets to voice opposition to rising far-right voices in the legislature

Protesters march outside of Republican League headquarters

NATIONWIDE NEWS: Braving the summer heat and humidity, thousands of people, from Kaizhou to Tian'an, protested the increasingly radical Republican League and newly founded National Revival.

The protest has been one of the largest in years, since a civil rights protest led by the Social Democrats, nearly 30 years ago. This time; however the event didn't garner the support of any political parties, instead spreading through social media. Along with this, a number of organizations voiced support One such was Equality Indrala, a nationwide LGBT rights group that is centered in Kaizhou. The National League of Women, a women's rights organization from Tian'an, also made a few appearances throughout the day.

"We cannot turn our backs on the people who make up Indrala," one protester said, "Just because they're different, doesn't mean they can be oppressed. Our government should be working to protect them instead.

A number of people also showed up at Republican League headquarters, where they attacked the "twin devils" of Chen Tianwei and Chen Jianguo. Quite a few also begged for Jiang Zongren to retake control of the party, and return it to its more liberal roots.

Fortunately, a number of parties have spoken out against the bills introduced by these two parties, making it likely they will be shot down in the legislature.

Despite this, a large number of individuals and organizations promised to continue protesting and fighting for the rights of all Indralans. Another major protest has been tentatively planned for sometime in early October.

Chief Counselor campaigns in Taixi, warns against republican "Coalition of Chaos"

The Chief Counselor Gao Yifen has an intimate conversation with an elderly woman

TAIXI, Anle Province: The Chief Counselor and Lotus Party Leader Gao Yifen spent the day campaigning in Taixi, Anle, where he discussed the state of politics with regular Indralans.

Gao grew up in rural Anle Province in abject poverty. For this reason, the Chief Counselor has had a special attachment to Anle. The youngest of seven siblings, Gao greeted people in a market district alongside his daughter and two older brothers.

Here, Gao joined a group of elders for tea. One of the elders, Jiang Bingbing, 90, pulled a small picture out of her wallet; a portrait of her 19-year-old grandson in military fatigues. The senior’s voice shook with emotion as she thanked the Chief Counselor for his party's leadership in fighting to protect National Service, which culminated in convincing the Independent Socialist Party (now, Progressive Labour Party) to change their minds on the legislation which they had introduced to end it.

"Our government works best when we listen to the people," said Gao, "we certainly thank the PLP leader Song for understanding what a profoundly important institution National Service is for the young men of Indrala."

Gao understands that "profound" importance first-hand, when an unexpected pregnancy with his high-school sweetheart resulted in him having to support a family. Gao says that the wages he received in National Service were "essential for feeding [his] wife and baby daughter."

Despite his praise for the PLP leader, Gao warned the group about the republican wing of Indralan politics, labelling the republican parties a "Coalition of Chaos," echoing critiques he made in 4383.

"Those who propose republicanism actively reject Indralan democracy, or they are ignorant of Indralan history," said Gao, "the Republican League idolizes the right-wing dictator Tony Pua in their manifesto as the goal at the end of a republic, while the Communists intend to use republicanism to "install socialistic rule" upon the people of Indrala."

According to Gao, republicanism has never been associated with the progressive or democratic movement, a claim which he sourced to a recent research paper published by Professor Park of Enshi University.

"It's unfortunate because we have a high shared voting record, and the PLP seem like a thoughtful and progressive bunch," said Gao, "but their ability to work across party lines and develop common solutions for Indralans is compromised by their support for an extremist ideology."

Many of the elders shared Gao's sentiments, concerned that a return to republicanism would see the same sort of economic stagnation and civil rights repression that occurred under Tony Pua's fascist regime. Though too young to have witnessed it first hand, many of the elders today experienced a form of generational trauma, as their parents had to suffer under the Pua Regime and the Republic's Conservatives.

"I apply bandages to my bleeding feet every night," said Jiang, lifting her foot to show cameras, "but each morning I walk to the temple and pray that these republicans don't get their way. I don't want such an uncertain future for my grandchildren and great-grandchildren."

Civic Forum Former Leader Attacked

Image
Jiang Zongren

After calls of moderate members of the Republican League, and even those of protests from different social groups across the nation, Jiang Zongren has decided to resurface in politics to challenge Chen Tianwei. In a press conference today, Jiang pledged to reject authoritarianism and regressive views on social issues, and promote the ideals of liberty and free market. Zhang Wei, former leader of the radical faction of the Civic Forum also pledged his support to Jiang, as both of them had been expelled from the Republican League since Chen Tianwei's rule over the League.

Facing this challenge, Chen Tianwei has re-engaged in legislative work. As he failed to launch a popular revolution and led electoral defeats, critics say he is now trying to shift the focus of the party and make people ignore Jiang. According to the Party Constitution, Chen is the only person with the power to call leadership elections, and thus can enjoy a lifelong term as party leader as long as he wants it. The party's core administration the 'Central Revolutionary Committee', is also packed with loyalists of Chen, of whom has overwhelming control over all elements of the party. Therefore, it seems that while Jiang may make a loud boom, he is probably not able to make headway.

However, after the press conference, Jiang was attacked in a fast food restaurant where he was having dinner with several other close friends. The attacker used a glass fragment to cut Jiang in his nose, while shouting 'Long Live Chen Tianwei! Long Live Republican League!'. Jiang is currently hospitalised by he has not suffered from severe injuries and doctors say that Jiang will heal in about one month. On the other hand, the police has opened file to investigate this attack attempt.
