Kazulia, NC intervene to topple Bianjie dictatorship

2nd February, 4392.

Kazulian and Lourennais ground forces have intervened in Bianjie to topple the incumbent brutal regime of Emperor Itoh and to help the sagging Indralan minority as it battles the strengthening Imperial forces, opening a new and unexpectedly direct front in the confrontation between Kazulia and its neighbours. Earlier this morning, Defence Minister Gudhlek Lundberg said that around 45,000 Kazulian troops had been accompanied to Mo Ching International Airport with 15,000 Lourennais troops in-order to capture the airport and establish a de facto base of operations. Defence Minister Lundberg stated that the intervention had come in response to the Northern Council's repeated calls for Emperor Itoh to step down from a position of central power within Bianjie, citing that his genocidal campaign against the nation's indigenous indralan minority would continue to suffer under the dictator's regime. Officials from within the Northern Council press media office stated that Kazulian aircraft had continued a series of sorties prior to the landing of the initial Kazulian-Lourennais force. The bombardment of Imperial positions by the Kazulian Air Force marks the first time Kazulian aircraft operated within Bianjian aerospace as in the previous campaign Kazulian air-force personnel acted as forward air controllers for the Lourennais Air Component in Bianjie. The presence of the Kazulian Air Force marks the seriousness of the issue and the emphasis of combat effectiveness needed to bring the conflict to an immediate end.

The Northern Council's decision intervene dramatised concerns about the military and political gains of Emperor Itoh's regime. Prior the gradual end of the NC bombing campaign in Bianjie, Emperor Itoh's imperial forces had captured the nation's capital and had continue to clandestinely continue its genocidal campaign against the nation's minority groups. Weeks prior, it had been announced by Bianjie state media that the Imperial Forces had been preparing coastal defences for the aforementioned Northern Council intervention, with large troop movements being reported throughout the nation. The slide into chaos within Bianjie concerns the government in Skalm and the alliance in Bekenial for several reasons, including the possible spillover of militancy and weapons to neighbouring nations and the relative ease with conflicts could spark within Dovani.
At stake is the very sentiment of true stability within the nation of Bianjie.

Lourenne has joined with Kazulia in seeking to organise the aforementioned military intervention to restore stability within Bianjie and bring the genocide to an end. For the past few months, Kazulian troops had been stationed in Northern Outannais helping to prepare the Lourennais Armed Forces in becoming accustom with the fighting techniques of the Gao-Showan nations. Prime Minister Harald Christiansen indicated that Kazulia's role as a reliable power within the region of Dovani had been enhanced as he voiced the opinion that Skalm would be increasingly active in championing stability and democratic rule within Dovani. Combat aircraft, transport aircraft and attack helicopters are expected to be positioned in Embermane Air Base in Northern Outannais, enabling close air support for Kazulian and Lourennais forces operating in Bianjie and also provided limited support for the Indralan Forces of Defence. Defence Minister Lundberg stated that command of the bombing campaign in Bianjie will be transferred from the Lourennais Air Component to the Kazulian Air Force.

NORDIC moves to construct radar stations across globe.

With construction of the Asmundarleioi Early Warning Station on the island of Arenheim, the Northern Defence Integrated Command has expressed its desire in construct several radar stations across the Northern and Southern Hemisphere, mainly in allied nations. This comes in response to concerns within the sub-alliance as to the lack of modern radar stations open for the use of the wider Northern Council. Although various nations within the Northern Council alliance possess advanced radar/monitoring stations, the Northern Council lacks the numbers as only a handful of such stations can only be found in Hutori and Kazulia. From RKAF Hringariki, Kazulia and Hutori monitor international aerospace traffic through the efforts of the Global Aerospace Monitoring System (GAMS) which enables the two nations to monitor the movements of commercial and combatant aircraft throughout the Northern Hemisphere in an attempt to respond to instances related to aerospace forces of other nations. Lieutenant General Thorleif Ramsland, Joint Commander of the Northern Defence Integrated Command alongside Hutorian Major General Garret Isaac have expressed concern as it pertains to the alliance's ability to detect and react to presence of ballistic missiles in the aerospace of the Northern Hemisphere.
Secretary-General of the Northern Council, Haakon Egeland wrote:The security environment which surrounds the international community is changing. We are beginning to see more assertive nations, we also see the turmoil and violence in various regions of the globe. To that end, the Northern Council is responding by increasing its presence in regions of interest. We are strengthening our presence in the Central Dovani, Majatra and Seleya regions through measures on land, sea and air. As it pertains to the various "Great Powers", the Northern Council does not seek confrontation, thus our response is measured and involves said Great Powers to a significant degree. However, i stress on the fact that this alliance stands together, with all nations ready to protect each-other. We are seeing that various nations are becoming increasingly active as it pertains to their clandestine development of ballistic missiles and weapons of mass destruction. This accentuates the need for this alliance's push towards a united ballistic missile defence system and through the efforts of NORDIC that could be achieved.

According to Lieutenant General Ramsland, early warning stations, aerospace monitoring stations and cybernetic traffic monitoring systems are expected to be built in nations such as Luthori, Lourenne, Dorvik, Dolgava, New Endralon, Hulstria, Rutania, Hutori, Telamon and the commonwealth nations of Mordusia and Alduria, with Hutori ,Luthori, New Endralon, Kazulia and potentially Dorvik set to work on developing a joint missile defence network. Currently, various nations within the Northern Council do not possess ballistic missile defence systems and are solely dependent on the "good-will" of other nations, some outside of the Northern Council, to ensure their security as it pertains to ballistic missiles. Currently, the Kazulian Government is reorienting the long in development Skjǫldr-3 air defence system away from being a modernised/improved variant of the existing Skjǫldr-2 surface to air missile system and shifting it towards being the nation's first successful anti-ballistic missile system, however word has come out that the government will order more than 50 units of the Zardic Guardian anti-ballistic missile system, however this has not been confirmed by the Department of Defence.

NC chief Egeland warns Trigunia of "dangerous pattern"
Image
Secretary-General Haakon Egeland speaking to the Defence Counci

Secretary-General of the Northern Council, Haakon Egeland insists that the alliance will defend the interests of its members and will continue to be committed to the unconditional defence of its member states. Secretary-General Egeland's comments come after Trigunia announced support for communist dissidence in Egelion, a Northern Council member state. Speaking before the alliance's defence council, Egeland stated that the sentiment of Trigunian support for dissidence in a Northern Council member state could be perceived as a threat against said member state and the wider Northern Council. According to Egeland, Trigunia had made its intentions clear to the international community that it will go to far reaching ends in order to prompt the growth of transnational communism. He also stated that Trigunia's open support for dissidence in Egelion as apart of a "continuous string of recklessness with respect to the authoritarian regime in Rodshyadam. He cited Trigunia's meddling in Dundorf's elections after the government in Rodshyadam expressed disappointment in the election of a democratic party in Dundorf.

Egeland said that the alliance was becoming increasingly cooperative and interconnected. A report conducted by the Northern Council found that the alliance's members had increased their respective defence budgets three-fold. Allies have also made progress on investing in new capabilities. In just last year, 4 NC members spent more in real terms on major equipment than the year before. The report, he stated, also shows that NC members are contributing more to operations and missions. At the end of 4396, there were more than 123,000 troops serving in NC deployments, up from just fewer than 28,000 in 4395, before Bianjie's resurgent aggression and the resurgence of piracy in Central Dovani. Commenting on the alliance's support training mission throughout the world, Egeland said that with the alliance’s assistance, various nations and their national armed forces had been in a better position to defend themselves than before they were introduced to the multinational training programme.

Looking to the future Egeland stated that much attention would be placed on a resurgent Trigunia however a significant degree of attention would be placed on other developing situations including the situation in Bianjie, the developing tensions with respect to Saridan and the development of international communism. Egeland warned the Trigunian government that further threats towards the government of Egelion and the nation as a whole will receive an asymmetrical response from the entire alliance citing the alliance's provisions on mutual defence and security.

Kazulian and Hutorian troops have carried out a small-scale NC defensive drill in Egelion, rehearsing for a possible scenario in which Trigunia might try to sever the nation from the rest of the Western alliance. The exercise conducted in Egelion's Espada Roja training area takes Kazulian, Hutorian and Egelian troops through farmland, woods and low hills. Over two days, Kazulian helicopter and Hutorian combat aircraft took part in exercises that also involved troops from Lourenne, Hulstria, Luthori and New Endralon. This exercise comes amid threats from the Trigunian government about affirmitive action against Egelion's government and Trigunia's open support for communist dissidence in the nation. The exercise had been requested by the Egelian Government to reaffirm the nation's population and its armed forces that other nations stand in support of Egelion's democratic aspirations.

Trigunia's open support for communist regime across the world has changed the Northern Council's calculations, seeing Trigunia as increasingly dangerous to democracy internationally as the nation has made its intentions of prompting international communism clear. Before then, no forces from other alliance members were stationed in Keris region; now it is being reported that troops from Kazulia, Hutori, Luthori, Hulstria, Rutania, Dorvik and Lourenne are to be stationed in the Keris nations of New Endralon, Egelion and Dolgava. The Kazulian Government has been pushing for Hutori to become increasingly active as it pertains to its region, sitting that although the Kazulian Armed Forces can sustain the current deployment it is not the only major military power in the alliance. With Kazulia involved in regions such as Central Dovani and Bianjie, Kazulian commanders are calling on other nations to step up. Northern Council officials stated that the exercise was a small-scale drill compared to what would be needed in case of a real attack, with various Northern Council commanders citing the importance of cooperation among allied nations.

New Secretary-General holds security talks with Vanuku and Istalia
Image

Recently appointed Secretary-General of the Northern Council Harald Christiansen and Chairman of the Defence Council, General Magnar Johannessen are one a two week visit to Vanuku and Istalia to sure up diplomatic relations between the Northern Council alliance and the two majatran great powers. The visit has been marked as the first time officials from the Northern Council's has visited Vanuku and Istalia, on official business. In a press release before leaving for the southern Southern majatran nations, Secretary-General Christiansen commented on the importance the Secretariat is placing on its new-found relationship with the two nations. It was stated that the main focus of the trip was to forge relations between the Vanuku and Istalia as well as champion international cooperation. Christiansen drew parallel to the on-going situation in Saridan and cast aside the perception that the Northern Council was a threat to the supposed supremacy of Vanuku and Istalia.

It had been discovered that members within the Vanukean government had garnered the perception that the Northern Council was a perceived "threat" to the "established dominance" of the Kingdom of Vanuku on the international spectrum. On the background of the alliance's intention to strengthen relations with world's great power, excluding Kazulia and Dorvik, Secretary-General Christiansen championed the notion that the Northern Council should never be perceived as a threat to any of the great powers. Although the alliance maintained the stringent belief of unconditional mutual defence and strengthening global security, it's expansion should never be viewed as a threat to the world's great powers. He urged for a line to be drawn between the alliance's obligations and international responsibilities and what the Vanukean government perceives as a "threat".

Currently the two bodies are not bound by any diplomatic pact or agreement, so it is evident that both Christiansen and Johannessen will focus on pushing on the formation of a mutual defence and cooperation agreement between the entire Northern Council and Vanuku and Istalia. It is expected that the Christiansen, when he meets with Vanukean Defence Minister Eksandr G. Anzlék and Prefect Sígzma Barnkuksrmko Zhtál in Wiel, and Istalian Prime Minister Sante Vespa-Baldassare, Foreign Minister Simone Calenda and Defence Minister Abdul el-Haram, topics such as international communism and piracy would be brought on the topic of discussion. Christiansen stated that he intends on ensuring that the world's great powers play an important role in the development of global security and cooperation.

NC tracks and monitors Trigunian aerospace activity in North.

Trigunian military aircraft conducted aerial manoeuvres around Keris this week on a scale seldom seen since the end of the Terran War, prompting Northern Council jets to scramble and force multiple aircraft to either divert their course or return to their complement airbase. NORDIC commanders have stated that it had been tracking and monitoring Trigunian aircraft throughout the Northern Hemisphere as apart of the organisation's northern aerospace policing policy. Aircraft from Kazulia, Hutori and New Endralon were scrambled to meet Trigunian aircraft throughout the hemisphere. A spokesman from NORDIC stated that although they remained in international aerospace, aircraft were still scrambled to intercept and establish a Northern Council presence. Although these manoeuvres by Trigunian aircraft remain in international airspace there is room for miscalculation. These heightened manoeuvres by Trigunia comes at a time where diplomatic relations between Trigunia and the Northern Council are an all time low and with Trigunia openly sponsoring dissidence within Northern Council allies, Kazulia has voiced complete condemnation for Trigunia's actions citing them as provocative and destructive to the establish regional stability.

From strategic bombers to contemporary combat aircraft, the Northern Defence Integrated Command (NORDIC)'s advanced radar systems have detected more than 50 Trigunian aircraft throughout the Northern Hemisphere with a large percentile lingering around the Kerisian nations especially Egelion. Trigunia's open support for communist dissidence in Egelion and Dundorf has forced the Northern Council to become increasingly responsive to Trigunia's actions. Secretary-General of the Northern Council, Harald Christiansen describe Trigunia as "transitioning towards its post Terran war aggression." Posterior to the Great Terran War which saw the death of millions and resurgence of the "Trigunian Bear", Trigunia's actions on the international spectrum could easily be labelled as destructive to global peace and stability. This is easily seen as the nation supported undemocratic regimes throughout Terra and sought to sure up its dominance through influencing political decisions within its neighbours and nations which aligned themselves with the nation at the time. Many have labelled Trigunia's recent actions as Trigunia becoming increasingly resurgent. This, to the Northern Council, has been viewed as a threat to the security of its members and global security.

Lieutenant General Thorleif Ramsland, Joint Commander of the Northern Defence Integrated Command stated that the radar stations built in Northern Council such as Luthori, Dorvik, Hulstria, Lourenne, Kazulia, Hutori, New Endralon and Egelion had proven beneficial to the alliance, as it has been reported that NORDIC is currently utilising these systems to monitor the movement of Trigunian aircraft throughout the Northern Hemisphere. With other nations set to join the Northern Council, Lt. General Ramsland stated that similar to the aforementioned nations early warning and aerospace monitoring stations would be constructed in said nations. It had reiterated that incursions in the aerospace of Northern Council aerospace will receive an asymmetrical response, with Kazulian and Hutorian air and missile defence systems to be positioned in Telamon, New Endralon, Dolgava and Egelion soon it is expected that said defences will be the asymmetrical response.
