Indian General Election,2019

Well,India will vote in less than a year from now and I thought I could create a page to discuss about Indian Politics.

Here is Some Information about our Last Election:-

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_ ... tion,_2014

And for those who don't know much about India's Main Political Parties,Here is a Brief Description:-

Bharatiya Janata Party:-
The BJP is Currently India's Governing Party,It is Generally Right Wing and is Socially as well as Fiscally Conservative and is led by The Incumbent Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi.It was Primarily Focused on Religious Issues but Mr.Modi has turned the Parties Focus towards Economic Issues and that was the main reason for its massive victory in 2014.The Party is also Nationalist and has consistently taken a tougher line on National Security issues than the Congress. Many have accused the BJP as being Radical on Certain Social Issues,an allegation which the party has consistently denied.

The Parties Core Base is Urban,Well Educated Voters and is generally weaker in Rural Areas(Opposite to Conservative Parties Elsewhere)generally because of its Pro Business and Anti Subsidy Policies.

Indian National Congress:-
It is the oldest Political Party in India and was formed in the year 1885,It was at the Forefront of the Indian Independence Movement and has governed for almost 55 of the 70 years from when India Became Independent. It is Socially and Fiscally Progressive and is currently being led by Rahul Gandhi,The Great Grandson of India's First PM Jawaharlal Nehru. However,it has lost its position as BJPs Competitor to the Different Regional Parties.

The Congress has also been accused of Nepotism and they had also Continually Mismanaged the Economy when they were in power. And Above all,Many of its Leaders have been accused of Corruption.

Third Front:-
India has Hundreds of Regional Parties and most of them have banded together as the Third Front,This Broad Coalition of Smaller Parties pose a Tougher Challenge to the BJP than the Congress does as they are Strong in Southern India(where I live)and most of Northern India.Their only priority is to defeat The BJP and There are many people vying for the Prime Ministership within this Alliance which would become a major problem if they win.

From a quick glance at the political parties I'd most likely support the Bahujan Samaj Party.

The BSP is generally considered to be the voice of the Scheduled Castes and they Governed Uttar Pradesh(India's most populous state)from 2007 till 2012.It lost all of its Seats in the Last General Elections and won just around 20 seats in the Last Uttar Pradesh assembly Elections. However it has teamed up with the other Regional Party in the State and is seemingly making a comeback.

Though their Government In UP was credited for Lowering Crime and Improving Safety for Women,Their Leader was criticized for building statues for herself like this one:-

However,My Analysis of the BSP is totally based on media reports.

But One thing which is common for all Indian Political Parties is that they revolve around the Personality of their Leaders and There is absolutely no possibility of a leadership challenge or a backbench rebellion, which is one thing I hate because it confines the political discourse to the Leadership Qualities or Charisma of the Leaders and Prevents an Actual Policy based discussion.
