Since the completion of the Valois
métro modernization in 4418, some subway stations in Lourenne need repair and expansion as a result of the continuous and popular use of the system. Currently, The Lourennais Transportation Authority sets fare prices, sets hiring qualifications, and is set as a dispatch center for trains and subways throughout the country. Currently, The Dispatch Center in Valois currently employs 584 people. However, after the increasing budget in infrastructure and transport, the authority is looking to expand the dispatch center, increase wages, and lower rider fares from the current price. Ride fares are different for subways and buses in different areas of the country. Fares tend to be higher in the more rural areas and lower in urban areas. this is the same for both trains and buses. TheTransportation Authority is trying to create a permament equal fare for all riders in every part of the country. At the moment, fares for the Lourennais Subway and bus system are:
Current
-Full Fare: 3.25 (3.50 Rural) LFR
-Reduced Fare: 1.75 (2.10 Rural) LFR
-Student: 1.25 (1.50 Rural) LFR
-Senior: 1.00 (1.10 Rural) LFR
The current fares were proposed during the modernization of Valois's metro system, which is now in need of some maintenance. The fares have been described as "too high" for users in rural areas and in some cases some people in urban areas. The authority is set to create a fare for
all users of the transportation system. The fares would be fixed in urban areas especially as a result of the million s of people that use it everyday. If fares are decreased, it is expected that public transportation users would increase by 11% in rural areas in Outannais and Lucande. In large areas such as Valois, Eroncourt, and Thiers an increase of 7% is expected when fares are reduced to new prices. The Transportation Authority has also called for the renovation of many stations throughout Valois and Eroncourt. Clearly, the two largest cities in Lourenne see more people using the public transportation system than in other cities. Because of this, The Authority will spend more money in making subways and buses more effective and appealing to the public. After, a large consultation meeting in Valois over fare prices, the board for the Transportation Authority has agreed on a set of numbers and wage increases for riders and workers. First, wages for workers. Currently, workers who recently joined the TA make approximately 11-13 LFR an hour. Advanced workers, who have spent 7 years or more working, make 15-17 LFR an hour. Senior workers make 19 LFR an hour. With the Lourennais minimum wage being at around 10.75 an hour, the new wages will rise by one Lourennais Franc each in order to better fill the needs of each worker. Second, the fares for buses and trains. After much consideration form the top officials of the Board of the Transportation Authority, a new list of fares has been released:
Proposed
-Full Fare: 2.25
-Reduced Fare: 1.25
-Student : 1.10
-Senior: .75
The new fare proposals have been debated by the board and are most likely set to pass and be implemented starting in 4434.The redevelopment of stations will also be starting in 4344 with stations in Eroncourt and Valois being renovated first. Once Eroncourt and Valois are set, stations in other areas will be redeveloped. After the board meeting, members of the press asked multiple questions to members on the board regarding of extra plans and ideas that may exist for Lourenne regarding the train lines and system. One member explained that:
We hope to make things in Lourenne more appreciated and respected by the people first. Beginning by reducing fares and renovating our stations. Once that is complete, we want to work on an international railway that runs throughout North Dovani and in the south. We hope that a new international rail stretching from Dankuk to Talmoria with the main station being in Lourenne. However, we'd have to communicate with all Dovani nations in the north and around to see if they'd like to begin said idea.
Fares and prices will change in 4434 and an international Dovani railway is yet unknown. Updating and the renovation of stations will also begin in 4434 in Valois and Eroncourt.
More to come
