Imperial Armed Forces of Indrala Modernization Program

In December 4451, the Grand Assembly of the State of Indrala authorized the Imperial Armed Forces of Indrala Modernization Act (LP-318).

This legislation is aimed at:

(a) The development of a self-reliant and credible strategic armed force; the reconfiguration of the Imperial Armed Forces structure; and the professionalization of the IAFI;

(b) The undertaking of reforms in the recruitment, training, employment and management of IAFI personnel;

(c) The development, validation or modification of IAFI doctrines;

(d) The acquisition and upgrading of appropriate technology and equipment; and

(e) The relocation, improvement, and construction of bases and other facilities.

As it pertains to part (d), the IAFI Modernization Program is accepting bids from private and public defence contractors. The IAFI Modernization Program is also seeking to co-develop, where possible, new military equipment.

The legislation allows for up to $40,000,000,000 (OOC: USD) in expenditure, though this ceiling may be raised or lowered by the Grand Assembly.

UPDATES:

Xiandai Group has received a multi-million dollar contract from the IAFI Modernization Program for the production of small arms. This comes after it was announced that Xiandai had acquired the licensing rights to a number of Kazulian-designed assault rifles.

Kyuma Defence Systems has received a $30,000,000 exploratory contract from the IAFI Modernization Program for the production of light armoured vehicles. This decision was reached after Kyuma presented design plans for their first such vehicle to the Ministry of Defence.

UPDATE (October 4454):

The Ministry of Defence has signed an order with Enterprise Des Défenseurs (Lourenne) to purchase three-hundred (300) new LeCroque Tanks for $2.1 billion dollars. The tank is currently the primary battle tank of the Lourennais Royal Ground Forces, and received acclaim for its performance during the Dovani War.

A consortium of Hutorian defence contractors are offering their services and products to the Indralans including the Defence Division of Ross Motor Works, Ironworks Ship Yard, Jetstream Aerospace and Horizon Technology Corporation, First Defence, the primary producer of Hutorian small arms.

"Ministry of Defence signs $2.3b contract with Ross Motors for new artillery, vehicles"

The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract with Hutorian firm Ross Motors to acquire 90 Buffalo APC vehicles, 145 Hap-15 Javelin artillery systems and 750 HMA-15A1 Lancer Howitzers for $2,324,000,000. This deal effectively makes Hutori the largest foreign supplier to the Imperial Armed Forces.

Following the ratification of this deal, Defence Minister General Xiao Wusheng, ret. said:

"This deal represents a great boost for our Imperial Armed Forces, as well as a strengthening of relations between the Commonwealth and the State of Indrala."

The primary small-arms producer in Hutori, state-owned Hutorian First Defence has also ratified a number of licensing deals with Xiandai Precision Industries to produce a number of their firearms in Indrala for the Imperial Armed Forces.

"Ministry of Defence invests in Zhijia Nighthawk Program"

The Ministry of Defence has contributed $1b to the Zhijia Nighthawk development program and other Zhijia military technology projects. Stipulated in this deal was an exclusive purchasing agreement to prevent Zhijia from exporting their military hardware to foreign buyers without consent from the Ministry of Defence.

"Ministry of Defence signs $100m order with Kyuma Defence Systems"

The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract with domestic security firm Kyuma Defence Systems for a sum of $100,000,000, in exchange for 500 KDS AV-1 4x4 Wheeled Armoured Personnel Carriers. The Ministry of Defence has received the bulk order at a discounted rate, due to $30,000,000 exploratory contract signed between the Ministry of Defence and Kyuma Defence Industries in 4453.

"Ministry of Defence signs largest hardware acquisition contract in contemporary history with Xiandai Defence Industries and Indralan Aerospace"

The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract with domestic aerospace firms Xiandai Group and Indralan Aerospace to acquire the newly-developed IA-20 and IA-30 fighter jets. The contract, at $5.6b is the largest military hardware acquisition contract in Indrala's modern history. The Ministry of Defence has ordered approximately 130 IA-20 fighters and 150 IA-30 fighters.

"This contract is a landmark investment is not only and investment in the capacity of our Imperial Armed Forces to protect our nation's sovereignty," said Defence Minister General Luo Guanyan, ret., "but also represents a massive milestone in the development of the domestic defence industry and the innovative spirit of the Indralan people."
