Bellevue-sur-Mer Bonfire Night

In the small city of Bellevue-sur-Mer in Alduria, Noumons Abroad, an organisation dedicated to representing and helping expatriates from Noumonde, is hosting a fundraising event in the form of a Bonfire Night, inspired by other similar Bonfire Night events around Terra, such as the Weinsedorf Bonfire Night in Dorvik.

At the culmination of the evening's festivities, an unpopular public figure will find himself or herself chucked on the bonfire and incinerated. In effigy, of course.

Noumons Abroad have drawn up a list of 10 candidates, and invited the public across Terra to use phone voting to decide who should be tossed into the flames. Calls will cost 2 Aldurian Dollars each, and all proceeds will go to Noumons Abroad.

The candidates are as follows:

- Karl Joachin Biggelswerd, the former Dorvish President who received a visit from the Prophet Akim in a dream and then controversially strove to establish an Ahmadi Caliphate in his mainly Hosian country.

- Remy Blanchard, Noumonde's military ruler who came to power in a recent coup and has courted international outrage ever since for his treatment of his country's Malgy population.

- Alexis Chéron, the ambitious President of the newly-formed Canrillaise Federation, which is believed to have aspirations to becoming a global superpower.

- Heijinoju Jeztrisrmko Megàmotojokai, billionaire and colourful heir to the Jelbék Bank of the World who has previously run for the position of World Congress General Assembly President.

- King Julien XIII, the entertainer-in-a-lemur suit who has not stopped complaining ever since World Congress bosses blocked his his bold bid for the General Assembly President position.

- Lakshmi "the Black", Kalkalistan's infamous she-devil who brutalised her own people. She has fallen from power now and fled, although it is not known whether she is still alive. Even now, years later, superstitious Kalkali living in the villages are said to be terrified she might one day return to wreak oppression and vengeance upon them.

- Thomas Rousseau, Alduria's former Maréchal who viciously turned on Alduria's Majatrans and Luthoris, took away the civil rights of his citizens, alienated the world community and then blamed the inevitable international backlash on "international Yeudry".

- Manosindus Von Thaller, quasi-fascist military dictator of Zardugal, popularly tipped as the Terra "bad boy" most likely to trigger the next international stir.

- Grozdano Theodorido, Zardugal's blood-soaked Imperia Majoro, widely held responsible for the Zardic attack on Cobura and the ensuing ethnic cleansing of Mallans.

- Miroslav Válek, the loathsome communist who seized power in Deltaria and for a while seemed on the verge of exporting his communist ideology all across Terra.

OOC: You can vote for up to 3 candidates. After 10 days, the candidate with the most votes will be burned in effigy. In the event of a tie, I will exercise the casting vote myself.

General Blanchard warns of "consequences" for "lack of patriotism"

Speaking from his bunker in war-torn Nouville, General Remy Blanchard has hit out Noumon expatriates campaigning for him to be burned in effigy at Bellevue-sur-Mer Bonfire Night. "There will be consequences for such lack of patriotism during time of war," he warned, "we are taking records of the people involved, and in due course, they will be punished".

Blanchard's statement has provoked ridicule from many, who point out that his regime is on the verge of being overwhelmed by the combined might of Valruzian and Canrillaise Federation forces. However, international security experts are pointing out that regardless of the fate of General Blanchard and his regime, the sinister, underground networks of ultra-conservative activists affiliated with Action Canrillaise International are very real, and that it is not impossible they will begin targeting perceived political opponents.

General Manosindus Welcomes Being Burned
December 4462

Deltarian General and Dictator Manosindus Von Thaller has announced he is impressed that he is one of the frontrunners to be burned calling it a true display of his opposition to imperialism.

I welcome the contempt of the Imperialist Bellevue-sur-Mer Bonfire Night and am happy to hear I am one of the frontrunners! To be so hated by a group of imperialists is my greatest honour and I am forever grateful to those who have voted for me

"NIGHT OF THE GENERALS": Manosindus and Blanchard burn together

Image

With votes for Deltarian dictator General Manosindus Von Thaller and Noumonde's now-deceased tyrant General Remy Blanchard running too close to call, the organisers of Bellevue-sur-Mer Bonfire Night conceded to popular demand - and threw both of their effigies onto the bonfire!

Pierre-Louis Bessette, the chairman of Noumons Abroad, commented that "the Terran public seem to want to send out a clear message to the dictators, the military despots of the world, and I think we can see this very much with the results of the voting". He also thanked all of the people who had helped raise money for his organisation, and paid a special thank you to "the millions of phone voters, who together raised nearly 2 million Aldurian Dollars for us.

Count Henri Beaumanoir, leader of Noumon's hardline Canrillaise Front and a Defence Minister under the Blanchard regime, has called for Pierre-Louis Bessette and other Noumons Abroad organisers to be arrested for "treason, sedition and disrespect".

King Julien XIII accuses Bellevue-sur-Mer organisers of vote-rigging

Image
The rightful king (left) with his faithful Canrillaise deputy Mortimer "Mort" Bonhomme (right)

NOUVILLE — His Royal Highness the illustrious King Julien XIII, self-proclaimed Lord of the Lemurs,
Julakoto-on-Terra, etc., etc. has accused Noumons Abroad, organisers of Bellevue-sur-Mer Bonfire Night, of
rigging the vote to determine whose effigy should be burned.

In a press conference held at the 5-star King Julien X Hotel in central Nouville the rightful king announced an
enquiry, which he said would "prove the corruption of Noumons Abroad, which is nothing more than a Canrillaise
supremacist organisation that will stop at nothing to ensure the people cannot choose me."

The rightful king noted that "it is plainly obvious the vote was rigged, after all, nobody knows who Manosindus von
Thaller, so why would they vote for him?".
