President Yuen Yu has assured the nation that the volcanic eruption is of no major concern beyond the ash clouds which have reduced air quality and stalled flights in and out of Dalibor City. "The eruption is a natural event which has occurred on the island before and the lava flows which are impacting the sparsely populated Outlands are of little threat. This is the natural way of the planet and there is nothing we can do to prevent such events. We must simply carry on and not buy into the hysteria that subversives are attempting to create in order to destabilize and destroy the nation."

President Yuen Yu and the state media have been dismissive the impact of the eruption of Huojuren, even as ash clouds loom over the island and international groups respond to the region. At most the government has issued advisories for the capital city and granted foreign tourists free nights in luxury hotels to compensate for cancelled flights. Meanwhile, not shockingly, The Outlands have been ignored and Huibaigu is now known to have been completely destroyed with most of its residents killed. Smoke still billows from Huojuren and forest fires a spreading throughout the western Outlands. This ongoing tragedy has, however, been an awakening and the destruction of Huibaigu was a call to action for all Outlanders. From the fires of Mount Huojuren has come an Outlander uprising, an insurrection against Dalibor City.
Mayor Chan Heng of Yingu with the aid of the House of Kai has enlisted the help of impassioned Outlanders, hired private military, and revolutionary fighters to take up arms against the current system, demanding equality for the Outlands and an advancement of quality of life for all Daliborians. In the west, the Dongru village headman Guo Yaling has joined in Yingu’s call to action, as have most other major Outland settlements.
Workers at a textile factory on the outskirts of Dalibor City walked out in protest, even in spite of threats from triad bosses. Similar scenes have been witnessed at other city region factories, known for poor working conditions, low pay, and general exploitative practices. Meanwhile, protesters, led on by ringleaders associated with the banned Workers’ Party of Dalibor, have set up camp on the Turtle Bay bridge that links Dalibor City and Gangzhou. The government’s main military contractor has reportedly been “mildly uncooperative” with President Yuen, rejecting certain assignments which they have allegedly deemed “a waste of time” for their mercenaries.
Nonetheless, the government’s hired guns remain on watch throughout Dalibor City and President Yuen has increased security for himself and members of his ruling National Solidarity Party. An early legislative draft has been released for the creation of small formal military force, a reaction to the lack of total compliance from the government’s preferred private military company. The Legislative Assembly is scheduled to move forward on the legislation as soon as possible and the President has already embarked on a personal mission to recruit his party’s most loyal and enthusiastic supporters.
