Workers' Regime rejects 'fake' elections, blames international media and imperialist enemies abroad
2nd February 4484
-al-Kasraj, Abi'nadi

Image

At a hastily arranged press conference today, Justice Minister Suhaila al-Sumaan announced the results of the latest election to be invald. They constituted, she said, an attack of the fabric of Kafuri society. Holding aloft a dossier which she claimed showed significant and incontrovertible evidence of electoral interference and vote rigging, she pointed the finger squarely at the international media and enemies abroad.

During the 1 hour press conference, Minister al-Sumaan deemed the the elections void, stating,

It is clear that the most recent elections were neither free nor fair. International bourgeois media and imperialist enemies abroad sought to unduly influence and subvert our workers' democracy.... Those elections have been cancelled and the Supreme Workers' Council shall arrange fresh elections in order that the true will of the masses be reflected.

Some sources say the poll revealed support for the regime was as low as 18%.

The government pointed to comments made by General Assembly President Ibrahim El Salefi pledging to provide support for opposition to the regime and 'fake news' emanating from Kizenia/New Endralon as evidence of organised fraud and vote rigging.

President Hails Economic Success of IWCEA

President of the Supreme Workers' Council used his annual autumn address to laud the achievements of the International Workers' Community for Economic Assistance. The 5 member international economic body has seen an increase in investment and trade between Kafuristan, Hobrazia, Kalopia-Wutani, the Great Jelbek Confederation and Hulstria and Gao-Soto, and helped to bring an end to the economic difficulties which have plagued Workers' Republic during the last decade.

Addressing the Supreme Workers' Council, President Saïss stated,
This community of socialist countries is realizing its goals by means of comprehensive political, economic, and cultural cooperation. Its members are guided by the principles of full equality, mutual respect for independence and sovereignty, fraternal assistance, and mutual benefits. This state of affairs is in stark contrast to the international capitalist division of labour, which is but an expression of the exploitation of the weak by the strong. Instead of being implemented consciously and according to an agreed plan between equals, it forms spontaneously in the course of a harsh competitive struggle and leads only to the emergence of a crippled, one-sided economic structure. When workers come together as equals, the rewards of trade and investment can be seen by all and can be shared by all.

Although not mentioned by the President, the decision of Gweriniaeth Aloria not to continue its trade embargo has also helped create an uptick in economic activity.

Kafuristan to Step Up Campaign for Security Council Seat

Foreign Minister Mehdi Boutaïb today pledged to step up Kafuristan's bid for the World Congress Security Council. Minister Boutaïb said the experience of working within the IWCEA had renewed the government's resolve for international solidarity. At a press event in al-Kasraj he reiterated,

The Workers' Republic of Kafuristan is seeking to win Seat B on the World Congress Security Council as we believe that the working class need a louder voice on the world stage. The current 3 contenders for Seat B all stand for the status quo, for a Security Council where the elites of Terra mix business, politics and military ambitions. Just consider that all 3 of those nations allow for the exploitation of child labour in their own countries. A vote for them gives security to whom? The exploiters or the exploited? The strong or the vulnerable? If they won't stand up for the children of their own nations, how will they stand up for the children of Terra?

The Workers' Republic has never served on the Security Council and received only one vote at the last count. Minister Boutaïb confirmed that Kafuristan had the support of IWCEA allies Hobrazia and Hulstria and Gao-Soto, as well as remarking that constructive meetings had been held with representatives from the Great Jelbek Confederation, United Republic of Badara and the Commonwealth of Hutori. The Minister will be seeking more face to face meetings over the coming weeks.

Interior Minister Announces Special Measures for Hajj Pilgrimage

Minister Farouk Meriah today announced new security measures aimed at preventing what he described as 'seditious and counter revolutionary forces' entering the Workers' Republic during the upcoming hajj pilgrimage. Although officially an atheist state, religious gatherings are not banned in Kafuristan and religious taxation laws have meant that the government has found the annual religious event to be of significant economic benefit.

Pilgrims gather in Helem, August 4480

The Minister announced that he expected all foreign governments to share intelligence information on visitors prior to their arrival and that failure to comply with these measures would result in a travel bans being imposed on citizens from uncooperative nations. Pilgrims arriving at airports, border crossings and ports will be directed to special orientation zones where they will undergo security checks and finger printing, before watching an orientation film introducing them to the Workers' Republic and the realities of the socialist and capitalist economic systems.

The new security measures include:
• A requirement that all pilgrims from outside the Workers' Republic preregister for the event at least 3 months prior to seeking entry to the country
• That all pilgrims be approved for travel by the Ministry of the Interior prior to travel
• A non refundable administrative levy of 60KAF to be paid during preregistration
• That pilgrims attend a cultural awareness session on arrival at a port, border crossing or airport
• Mandatory finger printing at all border crossings, checkpoints, airports and seaports

The changes come after reports from Vanuku of organised violence and terrorist intent among groups likely to make the trip to Helem.

Kafuristan Relaunches Security Council Campaign

Image

Foreign Minister Mehdi Boutaïb has announced the relaunch of Kafuristan's bid for the World Congress Security Council. The Majatran nation has never served on the Security Council and received only one vote at the last count, however Minister Boutaïb insisted that the campaign was gathering momentum and had gained support from nations across Terra.

Reiterating the purpose of the campaign, the Minister said,
The Workers' Republic of Kafuristan is seeking to win Seat B on the World Congress Security Council as we believe that the working class need a louder voice on the world stage. For too long the members of the Security Council have stood up for the interests of big business and international corporations and not for the ordinary workers of Terra. The security they have offered is for the exploiters, not the exploited. If successful we shall endeavour to help build a Terra where peoples work together for peace, justice and international solidarity.

Ba’athist party reorganizations during rising tensions
December, 4521

al-Kasraj, Abi'nadi - Reorganization efforts of the Majatran Socialist Ba’ath Party were on-going for several months following action by various Pan-Majatran political elements within Kafuristan. Sahl bin Qadir al-Sadhi, a Colonel in the Kafuri Republican Guard, a sanctioned militia in the Workers Republic of Kafuristan, has been elected as the Regional Secretary of the Majatran Socialist Ba’ath Party – Kafuristan Region and as National Secretary-General, the overall leader of the Majatran Socialist Ba’ath Party. While the Ba’athist Republican Guard was supportive of the pro-Communist and Socialist regime in al-Kasraj, the Ba’athist grew further and further agitated by what they perceived was a lack of “regional interest” in that fellow Majatran nations, such as al-Badara were trying to prevent Kafuristan from expanding and undermining their influence.

It could be said that it was primarily a palace coup d’etat where loyalist elements of the Kafuri Majatran Army sided with the Ba’athist Republican Guard and elements of the other branches of the “Kafuri National Defense Forces” the unified pro-government militia elements that was formed by the Ba’athist party. In his first speech from the Presidential Palace in al-Kasraj, al-Sadhi prided that the Kafuri government would once again re-focus its ideals on a “Pan-Majatran, Kafuri-centric, world order” and that meant that “Our brother and sister Majatrans needed to stand together against a rising tide of radical Ahmadist and anti-Majatran elements that sought to poison the Majatran continent.

The Ba’athist leader promised stability and peace for all Kafuri’s and promised a more active international arena for Kafuristan, which was once a leading Majatran state with limited projection power across the world. Kafuristan’s dominance does not lay in military prowess however, it lays in the fact that Kaufristan is the world’s leading exporter of oil and petroleum products, giving it an unprecedented amount of influence and authority within the world. The Ministry of Oil, Trade and Industry that had been setup by the Ba’athist party was announced as the “premier” ministry of the new Kafuristan and would be directly underneath the auspices of the President whereas other ministries would be underneath the auspices of Prime Minister of the Majatran Republic of Kafuristan.

al-Sadhi noted that the Republican Guard and the Kafuri National Defense Forces would be assuming command and control over the capital and the seven largest oilfields in Kafuristan, this would be a temporary measure until civilian authorities could take over and effectively manage the situation. The People’s Council would be elected on an interim basis and would be responsible for the drafting of revised Constitution of the Majatran Republic of Kafuristan, borrowing much from the older Ba’athist constitution setup during the 45th century. It is likely that while al-Sadhi serves as interim president, he will appoint close confidant Haazim Nassif as the interim Prime Minister of Kafuristan and the Chairman of the Presidential Council; the primary advisory board to the President and widely considered to be the primary power in Kafuristan.

Interim President al-Sahdi noted that the recent tensions with several countries around the world, notably al-Badara and Beitenyu was “dangerous” and provided that “…any threat against Kafuri sovereignty or the stable peace of Kafuristan would be met with cleansing fire and holy retribution against the enemies of the Ahmadism.” Republican Guard and National Defense Forces were dispatched to ports, border crossings and military bases close to al-Badara and other points of entry into Kafuristan. While the Kafuri Armed Forces struggle to regain their organization and the incoming staff to both the Kafuri General Staff and the Ministry of Defense attempt to reorganize the tattered remains of the military, the Republican Guard and the National Defense Forces will eagerly operate to protect Kafuristan.

Security operations aimed at combating rising Ahmadi radicalism
January, 4519

al-Kasraj, Abi'nadi - Joint operations by the Republican Guard, the Republican Guard Security Directorate, the General Intelligence Directorate and the Political Security Directorate launched a wide-scale operation to capture radical Ahmadi terrorist in Kafuristan. The first level of operations were carried out around al-Kasraj and were the highest level operations, the establishment of a “Green Zone” in the Government District of al-Kasraj was essential to security operations. Major General Safar Baig, the Republican Guard officer in charge of al-Kasraj’s security and military forces, was charged with the establishment of the “Green Zone” a month earlier and was considered to be successful in his operations.

Groups affiliated with smaller, radical Ahmadist groups claimed attacks at several ports and smaller oil fields throughout Kafuristan, killing nearly 100 civilians and wounding another 170 over the course of a month through the worst violence seen since the rise of the Ba’athist. President al-Sadhi called these attacks “…barbaric and traitors to the Ahmadi faith and betrayers of the Kafuri people.” President al-Sadhi has welcomed the nations religious leaders to dialogue in the Presidential Palace, a move seen to try to and calm the more moderate elements of the Ahmadist in Kafuristan. Religion was a tough subject during the Workers Republic-era of Kafuristan, open worship and the core tenants of Ahmadism were opposed by the often atheistic policies of the Workers Republic.

The People’s Council has announced new measures to counter-act the surge in radicalism, notably the ability for the central government to veto the appointment of ministers of religion, a move both condemned and welcomed by the religious community. Imam Ishaaq al-Tabet, a well-known and outspoken Israist cleric, has called the move an attack on “religious practice” and has called for protests by all faithful Ahmadi’s against this “irreligious” move. Minister of Education and Culture Suhail Khalil boldly told the cleric to remember his place and that the central government in Kafuristan would not be bent to religious fervor and threats of violence.

General Intelligence Directorate and the Political Security Directorate forces were dispatched to the largest mosques, temples and churches throughout major Kafuri cities as the level of sectarian violence has risen over the course of a month. Loyal elements of the Kafuri Majatran Army have been dispatched to assist in the SSD and PSD in their operations, the Republican Guard has been largely taken by oil field security operations but has left a large swathe of their security units within major cities.

Ministry of the Interior Central Security Directorate forces were mobilized in the largest police mobilization in decades. The mobilization was meant to restore law and order to several districts of al-Kasraj and other major cities due to riots related to sectarian violence and the breakdown of basic services; regime loyalist claim that radical Ahmadist and other non-compliant former government bureaucrats are working against the incoming regime as they appoint and hire workers for the new governments being installed that are not the same organization as Communist and Socialist from the Workers Republic-era

Ministry of Trade and Industry to focus on MOI revival
February, 4522

al-Kasraj, Abi'nadi - The Ministry of Oil, Trade and Industry, led by veteran central economic planner Abdur Razzaaq el-Samad has announced a renewed interest in the Majatran Organization for Industrialization. The MOI was started as a joint venture between Dorvik, Kafuristan and Jakania, however Jakania and Dorvik to a large degree fell out. Kafuristan pressed forward with the operations of the MOI and subsequently turn the organization into a license production facility buying both civilian and military license for traditionally older equipment. Minister el-Samad made it incredibly clear that the facilities of the MOI were going to be largely used for military production however, of the 15 facilities, 2 would be converted for civilian use and used to produce a number of parts and other equipment.

Kafuristan is likely to shop around for more modern military equipment, likely to replace older Trigunian and older Zardic equipment that they have generally produced locally for several years. The MOI has also significantly purchased Trigunian blueprints and designs for newer equipment over the past several years and has made several modernizations, done through the MOI, for older equipment such as the “Lion of the Heart” main battle tank based off a heavily modified and modernized T-72 Trigunian MBT. The “Lion of the Heart” MBT has been dispatched to all Republican Guard brigades, while army units are slowly receiving the upgrades especially since the collapse of the Ba’athist party. The State Armaments and Production Committee, the central organ of the Ministry of Defense and General Staff responsible for purchases, research and development, has called on a modernization effort to be conducted to enhance regional stability and focus on the defense of Kafuristan.

While the Ministry of Oil, Trade and Industry, State Armaments and Production Committee and the Armed Forces as a whole eye this revival, the Supreme Military Council has issued a decree that focuses on restoring Kafuri units to the World Congress’ Peacekeeping forces, announces a permanent rotation of officers from field to staff positions and organizes regular military exercises on a yearly basis, with each year focusing on the training and development of the military. Private military advisors have been hired to expand the airborne capabilities of the three airborne brigades of the Kafuri Strategic Forces and the basic training component that is conducted at the Kafuri Army Academy, Kafuri Air and Air Defense Forces Academy and the Kafuri Naval Academy.

Several dozen former Dorvish, Trigunia and Ostlandic officers have been hired as advisors to the Command and Staff Officers University and the Kafuri Military Technical and Engineering College. These officers are likely to focus on the development of tactical and strategic level officer training and forming a cadre of officers for the next level of Kafuri involvement at the world stage. These advisors will also be attached to the Ra'd Mohammed El-Amin Ba'ath Party Central Party School to advise and train the Republican Guard; the Republican Guard are likely to receive the training and education prior to many military units.

Central Bank of Kafuristan joins IDSB
May, 4522

al-Kasraj, Abi'nadi - President al-Sadhi and Governor Nizaar Elbaz has announced that the Central Bank of Kafuristan has joined the International Development and Stability Bank; purchasing “into” the growing bank for 10b LOD. The move was seen by some as means to bring the Kafuri economy into the modern era and join with the globalized economy of the world. Minister of Finance Idrees Baksh pushed for the idea and was supported by Minister of Oil, Trade and Industry Abdur Razzaaq el-Samand. The trio of backers have been placed as simultaneous representatives to the IDSB and it is reported that President al-Sadhi has called for them to push for expansion of the bank.

The Kafuri investment into the bank has opened the country to markets overseas, notably in Dovani where nearly every single central bank or monetary authority in the “third world” is a member of the IDSB. The nations on Dovani joined the IDSB in the wake of the Dovani War that ravaged a large swathe of the continent. Loans, grants and bonds were issued by the International Development Fund, the development branch of the IDSB, the loans, grants and bonds issued totaled an estimated 560b LOD, many of these were paid back or are currently in repayment to the IDSB. The Kafuri investment into the bank is likely to open up new markets, notably in oil, petroleum and gas-based products, Kafuristan is also a known exporter of machinery, fruits, clothing and textiles as well as other various smaller industries that fluctuate overtime.

Ministry of Oil, Trade and Industry officials have already seen significant boosts in economic sectors throughout Kafuristan, notably in oil exports as it appears the First Deputy Minister, the deputy minister in charge of the oil and gas industry in Kafuristan is seeking to lower prices on exports in order to boost foreign investment and drive down oil prices of competitors in the global markets. Kafuri oil fields were totally nationalized underneath the Workers Republic but the Ba’athist have reversed that decision to a degree, they have agreed to authorize foreign investors, at a significantly higher cost, to “lease” up to 15% of the oil fields. The Ministry of Oil, Trade and Industry announced that 10% of the oil fields were to be owned by the Republican Guard as a means to “…provide steady income and prevent corruption and vice within the protectors of the Kafuri people and the Ba’athist ideology.” Rumors are abound that the Kafuri National Defense Forces largest militias were granted 5% of the oil fields in return for their loyalty, but this is unconfirmed.
