New Supermarket formed by Labor Union leader Berndt Metzinger
Nordenhaus, 13 March 4533 (OOC: Slightly postdated)

Image
Berndt Metzinger, a local Labor Union leader within the workers state of Dunlake, has established a new supermarket,
named Express-Markt, which he claims will focus on a fast and customer friendly shopping experience.

Local Labor Union Chairman Berndt Metzinger, of the Dunlake branch for Dundorf's second largest Labor Union, the Dundorfischer Arbeiterbund, or Dundorfian Labor Federation (DLF) has recently pooled together funds to open his first supermarket in the city of Nordenhaus for consumer testing. Metzinger's Union presides mostly over produce and some animal husbandry sectors, with Metzinger himself having been a former financier of a private supermarket chain during the years of the Bundesrepublik. His expansion into forming a supermarket of his own was seemingly destined to occur. Having cut the grand opening tape of his first supermarket to much fanfare, he hopes that his unique approach to consumer produce will pay off, which he states will ultimately decide if he wishes to open similar stores across Dunlake.

Metzinger's aforementioned unique approach to the traditional model of supermarkets involves one that favors fast shopping, hence the name "Express-Markt", along with a customer friendly shopping experience. Prices of items are often low, with employee wages being considerably high, at a standard flat rate of 12 marks for all workers. Revenue for all sales will also be split as evenly as possible after the usual 50/50 cut with the state. Metzinger plans to allow for a customer friendly experience by way of an app that can be freely downloaded onto a customer's cellphone, which will allow for online ordering and in-store or at-home pickup of produce or other groceries.

Neues Dundorf was able to send a field reporter to the store, with said journalist having been taken aback by the modern setup of the supermarket. With no little than ten employees in a store at a given time, the short staff seemingly doubled productivity and efficiency, largely helped by the seemingly autonomous nature of the store, a stark contrast to the grocery stores of other state-run companies. The first Express-Markt was also full of locally sourced meat and produce, with some customers remarking at the sheer freshness of products on store shelves. Touring his own store throughout the test, Metzinger was repeatedly extremely satisfied with the results, stating that with such a strong positive response to the first store, expansion into other local cities and villages of Dunlake is inevitable.

Economic reports of Five Year Plan show an increased interest in cannabis amongst the Dundorfian population
Dunburg, 15 October 4533

Image
Interest in cannabis consumption, either by smoking or edibles have shown a gradual increase throughout the growing economy,
according to a recent report by the Ministry of Finance's Survey Office. Shown here is a Dundorfian teen seen smoking cannabis in Dunburg.

Having been legalized for nearly a decade at the hands of the PDS's sparse reforms during the short-lived time of the Bundesrepublik but never truly capitalized on, it seems now, as per a miscellaneous statistic of the Ministry of Finance's lengthy economic report of the results of the first Five Year Plan show a quickly growing interest for the cannabis industry amongst the Dundorfian public, mainly in the age groups of 18-30. Previous interest towards cannabis came in the form of the hemp industry, which was largely nationalized and their sales regulated to licensed government-run sales outlets. Said interest caused a small drive in the production of hemp-based alternatives to traditional paper products, but had mostly died down, with falling revenue opting for the return of traditional paper.

Now, it seems public interest, especially amongst the younger generation of Dundorf, has turned to cannabis itself, both in the traditional smoked form and various alternatives, such as edibles and liquids. Said statistics indicated that the use of cannabis amongst adults rose by about 23%, a sharp rise from years prior. With the Ministry of Finance chalking such interest up as yet another possible avenue for socialist economic growth, Finanzminister Schulz reportedly contacted the office of the Foreign Ministry, specifically on the nature of foreign trade related to cannabis products, whether their purposes be for consumption or for hemp.

Naturally, the discussions of the two ministers gravitated to the world's largest cannabis grower, Kalistan. A fellow socialist nation in nature but repeatedly at the throes of non-socialist political parties wresting for the dismantlement of the state, despite their political headbutting, the nation presides over a robust cannabis industry, and an even more stronger international drug exporting alliance, by way of the Organization of Drug Exporting Nations, or ODEN. While legally trading in drugs that are much, much more harder than cannabis, the structure of the treaty is flexible, allowing for a fellow member to only import cannabis exclusively. Foreign Minister Oliver Riesz was seemingly greatly interested in the proposal of Finanzminister Schulz, calling it "Another potential triumph for socialist economics".

While nothing of the two men's discussions was concrete, it is wholly likely that with growing interest in the industry, the government will push for promotion of cannabis by way of domestic sales and foreign trade in the near future. Such move would likely bring another boost to the economy, if albeit called somewhat unconventional by some fellow socialist economists. On the qualms of some of his fellow economists, Finanzminister was reported to have stated "Economic growth is just that. No matter where it comes from, it boosts our GDP and reinvigorates the economy. Alongside that, it caters to public interest, allowing for further support of our socialist society. A government must truly cater to the demands of its people, and that is what we shall do."

Ministry of Finance announces second five year plan to continue military rearmament, but to focus on consumer goods economically
Dunburg, 12 October 4534

Image
Finanzminister Hans Schulz, main architect between the 4529-4532 Five Year Plan, has announced that the next shall focus continuing rearmament whilst
also paying attention to bettering the quality of consumer goods. Here Schulz announces the conclusion of the first Five Year Plan last year.

Reciting a speech from the Press Room of the Ministry of Finance, Hans Schulz announced that a second Five Year Plan would be undertaken. More focused on the continuation of rearmament of the Revolutionäre Volksarmee but also meeting demands for the betterment of consumer goods across the nation, Schulz stated that the Plan would also continue development of the Südliche Autobahn, but that it would not be a main priority. The recent formation of a Supermarket by Labor Union Chairman Berndt Metzinger that shows potential of expanding, along with a renewed public interest in cannabis seem to be the main driving force behind Schulz's shift towards consumer goods.

Schulz's speech also hinted at greater cooperation with Publicly-owned Enterprises, along with fostering their growth in all states. Rumors even began about the possibility of loosening some regulations on the size of a given PoE. But Finanzminister Schulz gave no comment on these rumors. If true, it would possibly see a sign of a possible reform to the Five Year Plan system, allowing for some flexibility which could spurn greater economic growth, and show a shift towards adoption of Deltaria's model. A notable few of the ruling faction of the MVP have expressed dissatisfaction at the economic reports of the Survey Office, which stated that economic growth was somewhat sluggish compared to the nation's ally, Deltaria.

On the continuation of rearmament, Schulz continued to promote the mixed policy that had been devised by General Marko Drache. Upon the execution of the next Five Year Plan, of which Schulz has said shall be "imminent", further arms and some limited equipment imports from Deltaria would continue. Other areas of rearmament that would be executed in the Fatherland would be the construction of vehicles and aircraft, along with a small strengthening of Grenztruppen due to recent hostilities, but their priority has been very small, according to both Schulz and Drache respectively. "While rearmament extends to all branches of the armed forces, with the Grenztruppen being one of them, I and Drache will make ourselves very clear: Strengthening them is not a key priority of our ongoing rearmament."

Reported possible stifled economic growth brings about schism within the MVP's largest faction
Dunburg, 19 November 4534

By Peter Holzer
Chefredakteur (Editor-in-Chief)

Image
Monica Blomberg gives her speech before the MVP's Parteikammer earlier today.
Blomberg has been the leading voice of fellow Metzists who wish to pursue more Metzist-Leonidist policies.

With one simple proclamation by the Ministry of Finance's Survey Office, the Metzistische Befreiungsfront found itself in a schism. The proclamation in question was the statement that economic growth was "sluggish" compared to Dundorf's greatest ally, Deltaria. Various members of the MBF expressed great dissatisfaction at the statement, and called for pursuing moderate reforms to the economic system, the regulations put on Publicly-owned Enterprises, and the Five Year Plan itself, with some even controversially calling for the removal of the plan entirely, despite only one having been done. This marks the first time since 4523 that the MVP has been at odds with each other, with the last time being friction between the old Social Democrats and fellow Metzists when the current Metzistische Volkspartei was the Partei des Demokratischen Sozialismus. Other dissatisfied members have expressed interest in the promotion of Metzism-Leonidism, with a specific emphasis on pursuing more Leonidist economic policies exclusively.

The leading voice behind the disgruntled Metzists is none other than Monica Blomberg, columnist for our party's own newspaper Arbeiterwelt and member of the Zentralkomitee's news attaché. Blomberg has stated that whilst she is among those dissatisfied with the results of what could've been for Dundorf's economic growth, she will continue to uphold the journalistic professionalism that she pledged to when she joined Arbeiterwelt shortly after its formation. Prominent old guard members of the party along with hardline Metzists were quick to undermine Blomberg's proposals, calling them sympathetic of capitalism. Frau Blomberg fired back, stating that some leniency towards small private business, specifically the Publicly-owned Enterprise ownership model, must be given to entrench trust in the socialist system.

"Make no mistake—I am just as much a Metzist like the rest of you, fellow comrades. But we are merely in the first steps of adherence to Metz's ideology. In these early years, we must build public trust in our system and create a strong economy. We are in the steps of doing that, but as the Survey Office has said, we lag behind our own ally of Deltaria. In order to fuel rapid economic growth and bring our economy into the mainstream, I believe that we must pursue a more Metzist-Leonidist policy. I know that my comments will be controversial to some of the old guard and fellow hardliners, but that is what I, and many other of us frustrated at the growth that could've been, truly believe should be done for our nation."

Blomberg went on to present statistics before the MVP showing a growing number of Leonidist policies being adopted by fellow Publicly-owned Enterprises, as much as 27% of all existing PoEs. If such policies were encouraged, as stated by Blomberg, economic growth could possibly grow much more throughout the second Five Year Plan. "We want our economy to grow, to ensure prosperity and show that a system without capitalism can excel and rival that of the capitalists themselves. I am for public ownership of the means of production, but I and my fellow comrades believe leniency towards small business can truly make our economy shine during this Five Year Plan." Many of the Metzistische Befreiungsfront's members have joined Blomberg's cause, with the possibility of a split of the MVP's largest faction being very much possible. If so, Blomberg's Metzist-Leonidist movement would likely absorb the former Vereinigte Leonidistische Koalition, which has admitted the Syndicalists and Armbrüsterists. The only possible point that would prevent them from splitting, as Blomberg has said herself, is that the hardliners bow to their demands and allow for their economic reforms.

Government withdraws diplomatic relations with Keymon, but will honor recent foreign trade
Dunburg, 21 February 4535

Image
"We withdraw from Keymon's neutrality agreement on the grounds of their ruthless oppression of dissidents,
and their recent intervention in the fellow socialist nation of Kalistan. However, we shall honor any outgoing trade with them."

In a surprising move, Oliver Riesz announced today that his office would pursue the complete withdrawal of Dundorf from Keymon's agreement of neutrality, citing their ruthless oppression to those who opposed the small nation's military junta, its crackdowns on any and all dissident groups, and its recent intervention in the fellow socialist nation of Kalistan. However, one thing that Herr Riesz guaranteed would be honored was the recent trade dealings with the nation, specifically the nation's purchase of several hundred thousand flat screen televisions from the state-run company Nationaler Fernsehdienst, which also supplies television broadcasting services across Dundorf. Giving a rousing speech before the Volksrat, he stated that withdrawal of diplomatic relations from Keymon was "...all but inevitable."

"Mitglieder der Volksrat,

I stand before you today as someone who wishes to take a stand. Against an increasingly repressive dictatorship on one of the world's smallest countries. Naturally I am referring to Keymon. In the recent months their regime has seen fellow socialists stand up to the injustices wickedly executed upon them, a just and righteous move, but to only have the hand of authoritarianism clamp swiftly down onto them. Now, unfortunately, the Golden Coast Socialist Republic that was, is dissolved and under the occupation of the ruthless regime of Presidente Quintu Ciriaccu. Under his regime the opposition has all been silenced, and numerous fellow socialists have been made martyrs to their cause. A noble sacrifice, but they shouldn't have to suffer such atrocities! As such, today I shall take a stand. This legislature shall take a stand, the people of Dundorf, united in our cause of advancing Metzism in our nation will take a stand! We shall cease any and all diplomatic ties with the Military Junta of Keymon and refuse to recognize the military clique as a legitimate government! We shall expel Keymonite diplomats on our soil, and we will vacate ours on theirs. But, one thing I will give them grace on—We shall honor any outstanding trade that is occurring at this very moment before closing our diplomatic line with them. Keymonite companies on our soil, if any do so exist, hereby consenting to Article IV of our Foreign Investment Act and shall be given a minimum of 60 days to transfer any funds back to their home country, after the designated monetary split, of course."

Shortly after Riesz's speech, he then presented the legislation to withdraw from said treaty with Keymon, with nearly all members of the MVP voting yes on the proposal. Riesz also stated that his office was contacting various officials at the Dundorfian Embassy in Turtle Bay to collect their belongings and make the trip home. It seems very clear now that Oliver Riesz believes in firm action against Keymon, but war seemed an unlikely possibility. Rumors circulated that Herr Riesz wished for diplomatic relations to be severed, but not for a war to bear fruit from them. Herr Riesz did however state in his address to the Volksrat that he shall petition the World Congress for international action on the matter sometime in the coming weeks.

Generalmajor Friedrich Heißler returns home a celebrated national hero following historic moon mission
Dunburg, 15 February 4534 (OOC: Postdated)

Image
Moments after their landing in the plains of Dissuwa, in Deltaria, Generalmajor Heißler and his Deltarian counterpart step onto
the soft earth of Terra once more for the first time in several hours. Their return was greeted to much fanfare.

Cities across the nation are celebrating like wildfire as Generalmajor and cosmonaut Friedrich Heißler returned home to the Fatherland following a successful manned mission to the moon, spearheaded by Deltaria's space program, DKA. Parades by local military battalions walked across downtown Dunburg to a grand display, flanked by the Revolutionäre Volksarmee's esteemed music ensemble, the Erhardt Hasselmann Ensemble. Military jets also gave a flyby, showcasing the colors of the national flag in their chemtrails. Staatsminister Hitzig alongside Vorsitzender des Ministerrat Ehrler were at the Volksrat to meet Generalmajor Heißler as he made his way across a massive crowd of citizens cheering from both sides of the street. As he entered the legislature, the crowds slowly trickled inside the building, nearly filling it to its capacity as he reached the podium and gave a heartwarming speech about his time outside our planet. He also congratulated himself for being the first Dundorfian ever to have made it to outer space. Neues Dundorf's own Editor-in-Chief was among the crowds as Heißler gave his delegation, and was able to successfully procure a transcript, which we have included below.

Image
Generalmajor Heißler meets crowds of citizens in downtown Dunburg as he makes his way down to the Volksrat.

"Members of the People's Council, Herr Ehrler, Herr Hitzig, and to all of you watching me here and at home,

I thank you. I thank you for this wonderful opportunity of being able to set records and to defy what we once called impossible. I thank you for having been selected for this harrowing mission, of which, to a man who has spent numerous times with his feet off the ground, seem all too ordinary. But frankly it is not ordinary. To call it such a thing is an understatement and truly a great injustice. When I ascended the atmosphere, broke the bonds of our planet, I became the first citizen of this nation, first member of the armed forces, first speaker of all who have spoken the Dundorfian language to reach the confines of outer space. And for that, I am forever and truly grateful. Hopefully I have not made you tear up [Heißler chuckles] with my honeyed words... But I do mean them from my heart. Aside from all the records, the mission itself was quite standard. We made our way into the moon's orbit and were able to safely land on the rocky surface. From there, we simply planted our respective flags and collected some samples of moon rocks. As I planted that flag, staring at the prominent red star for a few moments, and then gazing at the vast expanse of the moon, its silent nature very calming to me, I was taken aback by a massive sense of awe and achievement, even if our tasks were rather ordinary. My Deltarian comrade motioned for me to look back at Terra and I fell motionless—It was the most indescribable feeling I had ever experienced. No amount of words I utter from my mouth could truly explain what I had felt in those few quiet moments. All our history, all our wars, all our strife lay on that multicolored marble. As I gazed like an awestruck child, back on the surface people went about their ordinary lives, governments functioned like clockwork, and trade zigzagged across continents. I saw night grace the East, Dovani bathed in darkness and the power grids of nations light up like Hallowtide lights. I could faintly see planes gliding across the atmosphere, cutting through clouds effortlessly. As much as I wanted to stay, my Deltarian comrade motioned for my entrance back into the capsule, and from then we made our way back home. We landed in the plains of Dissuwa, in Deltaria, I was given some time to readjust to the gravity of Terra once more, and here I stand before you.

I am glad to have taken part in such a historic mission for both our nation and Deltaria, and I can only hope that I am able to return to the silent, calming atmosphere of the moon once more. Thank you all for listening and for giving me such opportunities!

After Heißler had completed his speech, he then followed behind Herr Ehrler and Herr Hitzig, presumably to have dinner with the Central Committee. The conclusion of Heißler's speech was met with an overwhelming standing ovation, with many brushing tears from their cheeks, and a reported uninterrupted session of clapping for well over five minutes. The Ministry of Science and Technology gave their own statement to the Volksrat shortly after Heißler's delegation, announcing that the nation would further contribute on spaceflight technology with Deltaria, even hinting at the possibility of founding a space program tailored to pursuing similar missions with other member states of CARSS. This comes just mere months after Deltaria announced interest in the establishment of a space station orbiting the atmosphere of Terra, a feat previously attempted by Kazulia's space administration.

Ministry of Defense launches massive reorganization of Armed Forces, Border Troops
Fuchstal, 14 November 4536

Image
Border guard personnel are trained at a base near Lutzenkamp.

The Ministry of Defense's headquarters in Fuchstal has recently launched a massive reorganization of the nation's command structure, Armed Forces, and border personnel. Expected to take quite some time, it is just one of the many ongoing improvements to the Dundorfian military that are being conducted. Spearheaded by the Chief of Staff of the Dundorfian Revolutionäre Volksarmee Marko Drache once again, he also stated that Deltarian advisers would be brought in to oversee the process and to give necessary feedback. The driving force behind the changes was apparently the aging tactical structure that was left unaltered as the Dundorfian government changed hands some years ago. "We bought new equipment, but the structure is old and slowly peeling off the walls," General Drache stated. "It was inevitable for this grand restructuring of sorts to be undertaken."

From the highest administrative body of the armed forces, the General Staff of the Revolutionäre Volksarmee was also to be reshuffled. Unexpectedly but not surprisingly, Drache himself stated that he would be retiring after the General Staff was reorganized. "There is no mistake about it—I'm getting old," the nearly 80 year old General stated. "I'll carry out my duties in full in this leadership shuffling, but at its completion, I shall resign my duties to one of my subordinates." Aside from its Chief, the GS is made up of rapidly aging Generals, some former members of the military junta that ruled the nation for a brief time. Drache stressed the need for younger members to inherit their seats, stating that younger minds could possibly greatly contribute to devising newer military tactics along with even furthering the efficiency of the Revolutionäre Volksarmee.

The Army and Air Forces were also to receive a massive facelift in terms of each's respective command structures, and the General Staffs of their branches also being reshuffled, but at a lower priority than that of the General Staff of the Armed Forces as a whole. Several divisions were also to be reorganized, along with being trained in new tactics that were showcased by Deltaria after their combined military exercises some time ago. Border Troops were also to be given new weapons and vehicles, along with checkpoints near the borders of nations being outfitted with more administrative personnel and their aging security equipment gradually modernized. Drache once again stressed the need for not neglecting the nation's Border Troops, claiming that they were the most underdeveloped branch of the Armed Forces in recent years, which was especially worrying to some in the Ministry of Defense after the rise of instability in some nations across the globe.

Hans Schulz and Ministry of Finance to review export policies
Dunburg, 29 March 4538

Image
A shipping plant in Radulfshagen, in Grozvic, moves plastic boxes down its conveyor line.
Recently, after growing frictions from within the MVP's largest faction, Hans Schulz has announced a review of the nation's export policies.

Over four years ago, frictions began amongst the largest faction of the Metzistische Volkspartei, the Metzistische Befreiungsfront. Disgruntled Metzists that expressed disappointment in economic growth that was reported to have been stifled as a result of the adoption of a 5 Year Plan economic system created a growing schism within the party. Since then, such disagreements on the policy of Dundorf's economy have continued to persist, but luckily have not seen an outright split in the Metzist faction. Hoping to appease their qualms, Hans Schulz, the longtime Finanzminister of the nation and brainchild behind Dundorf's steady economic growth over the past decade, has announced that himself and other members of the Ministry of Finance's Economic Planning Commission (EPC) shall review the nation's policies on national exports. With a growing produce industry via the newly formed Express-Markt, which has sparked a discussion of its own on the structure of the Publicly-owned Enterprise model, a discussion which is another article of its own, many have expressed support for growing exports to other nations both surrounding Dundorf and across the world.

A select few have even radically proposed that Dundorf establish a free trade zone within the Artanian continent, greatly allowing for both importing and exporting to fuel the nation's success, but their proposals have largely been downplayed. Somewhat ironic, considering the MVP's core ideal being cooperation with all nations regardless of their political or economic system. Regardless, Schulz has stated that the purpose of the review was to appease said Metzists and also allow for some Publicly-owned Enterprises that have grown their services to cover an entire Arbeitersstaat to possibly export their own goods, which could possibly entitle them to both foreign investment and subsidies from the state. As Dundorf is the world's only landlocked nation, regional exports are especially vital for the advancement of the economy. The export economy has grown, if albeit slowly, with the extremely popular televisions offered by the Nationaler Fernsehdienst, which have continually reported high numbers roughly equaling the 100,000s being regularly exported each year.

Schulz's attention to exporting as the nation inches closer to its next election, along with the last leg of the second 5 Year Plan being reached may have further economic boosts ahead of it, following Deltaria's intentions to establish and economic branch of CARSS, named the CAES. Largely expected by those in both Schulz's Ministry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to develop into a treaty, both offices have praised the intentions of Deltaria, stating that economic prosperity will only continue to advance throughout the coming years, despite the mastermind of CARSS experiencing a slump in their economic growth recently. Schulz was also quoted as stating that he would "...Welcome any trade that passes through our two nations." Many economists are reportedly eager at the outcome of the establishment of an economic zone for CARSS, but stressed that it must be effective in pursuing economic growth for all of its member states.
