Protests against banning of surnames throughout Malivia
Pradhanmantri Ayush' recent statements about banning of surnames have lead to widespread protests throughout the nation. Thousands of protestors gathered in the street this morning and then burned government vehicles, blocked highways causing long traffic jams and even violent clashes with police were seen at some places. The protestors mainly belong to two groups, orthodox upper caste gerajans who are protesting that their heritage is being taken away by the Government. While shockingly even the lower caste Gerajans are protesting with them saying that the removal of surnames means removal of reservations in jobs and educational institutions for them.
On the other hand, this move has gained support from liberal upper caste, general category students who feel end of reservation will mean equal opportunity for them, Gerajan social reformers who support the cause saying end of casteism should be our main motive and from the minority communities of the nation.
Father Heinrich of Confessional Ameliorate Church of Dundorf said "God had created all men equal and we must strive to achieve God's will. The PM's decision is a huge step for Malivians towards that."
Also Akali priest Jaspal Singh ji of Kajpur gurudwara said "Our gurus had always preached to treat every human as rabb's child and it's not the rabb but the humans who created divisions. I even say that all Akali too should only use Singh and Kaur as surnames and discard all other that brings casteism into akali faith."
There has been no statements issued by the Government yet.
