Terrorism Monitor - Greatest Threats of Our Time Series
Kerisian Communist League
The Red Terror of Keris

The Kerisian Communist League was founded in the wake of the collapse of the United Kerisian Socialist Republics in late 3290's. The Kerisian Communist League was founded by a former Communist Committee for Security mid-tier officer who was charged with counter-intelligence. The Kerisian Communist League was a grouping of Communist hardliners that wanted to continue the fight despite the collapse of the UKSR. The organization has existed with limited success in the past several decades but reports are that many disillusioned Trigunians are turning to the KCL once again, the same can be said for populations in Dolgavia, Egelion and Kizenia. Recent intelligence reports from the Dolgavian Security Police Bureau have stated that they have arrested two dozen persons related to the Kerisian Communist League, including the rumored Dolgavian-based leader Voldemars Andersons.

The Kerisian Communist League is currently reported to be lead by former Trigunian Army Colonel Dyogtin Damir Vasilievich (born April 17th, 4170) who is believed to have ties to several other radical Communist groups including the All-Trigunian Metzist Labor Party and the Kizenian Red Star Movement, both of which will be covered later in the Terrorism Monitor. The former Colonel is reported to have been involved in a scandal involving missing shipments of small arms which is believed to have been given to the Kerisian Communist League. The groups favored method is fire-bombings and kidnapping of officials for ransom, despite the existence of what is considered "mainstream" Communist parties through Keris, the Kerisian Communist League is reported to have the backing of several prominent UKSR promoters.

The last high profile attack of the Kerisian Communist League was when they kidnapped a Dolgavian police officer and ransomed him for $2,500 LOD. The ransom was never delivered and the Republic of Dolgaria's Special Forces botched the rescue attempt which lead to the death of the officer and the later fatal injury of a member of the Dolgarian special forces. Smaller, less known events have happened across Keris with the largest portion occurring in Trigunia where despite the effectiveness of Trigunian internal security, they have succeeded in winning over a portion of the population that is vehemently anti-monarchist.

Gath Defense Collective continues to monitor the Kerisian Communist League and believes that the group is continually active, sources within the Dolgavian government have confirmed continued operations against the KCL. Sources report that the 3 other Kerisian nations have operations being conducted against the Kerisian Communist League.

Tomorrow's Greatest Threats of Our Time will focus on the Majatran Mujahideen in Kafuristan, the dangerous long-time Israist fighting group spread throughout southern Majatra. Alongside the Majatran Mujaheddin in Kafuristan we will also take a look at the Supreme Israist Council of Majatra.

Terrorism Monitor - Greatest Threats of Our Time Series
Majatran Mujahideen in Kafuristan
The Scourge of Southern Majatra

Despite the relative calmness in Majatra over the past several decades in regards to extremist Ahmadism, the Majatran Mujahideen in Kafuristan remains one of the largest threats to stability and peace in the region. Following the collapse of the Ahmadi State in Kafuristan (ASIK) and the subsequent exodus of trained militants throughout southern Majatra. Muhammed Abdul Rahman, a former Kafuri General Intelligence Directorate officer, was the founder of the organization. The organization has no formal foundation date, but it is believed that they started somewhere around the mid-2500's when the rise of extremist Ahmadism began to through southern Majatra, but also the world. The Majatran Mujahideen in Kafuristan is primarily located out of Kafuristan is the southern portion of the country but several other "groups" known as Jamaat in Modern Standard Majatran, these groups are found in most southern Majatran countries including Solentia, Istalia, Jakania, Kalopia/Wantuni and in the north in Al'Badara.

Many militants of the Majatran Mujahideen in Kafuristan also found themselves in service to the Ahmadi State in Kafuristan (ASIK) which was a collection of various radical Israist groups that sought to build a new caliphate in Majatra. Following the collapse of the Ahmadi Caliphate which was proclaimed by the Ahmadi State in Kafuristan, there was a surge in the numbers of groups that proclaimed to be successors to the ASIK organization. None of these were as prominent as the collective Majatran Mujahideen in Kafuristan, underneath the leadership of Abdul Azeez al-Ayoub who was eventually killed by Vanukese intelligence and security services for reports of terrorist operations in Vanuku. The MMK has carried out several hundred terrorist attacks in the past several centuries, most of them ranging from small attacks such as suicide bombers to raids on foreign embassies and large-scale killings of non-Ahmadi's.

Today the MMK is suspected to be lead by Biybeird Varpok, a foreigner who is wanted collectively by nearly every intelligence service in the world, primarily by the Majatran-based security and intelligence services. Intelligence sources and reports that Biybeird Varpok only recently took over leadership after a bitter struggle with rival Jalal Skali who was killed at the hands of Varpok's men. Varpok is widely considered to be young, his report age is 27, and incredible radicalized. Videos released from the MMK's own news outlet states that "...the Ahmadi Caliphate will rise again. We will not relent to foreign powers and Neo-Colonialist." Intelligence sources believe that a new rise in extremism is expected and many have begun to monitor the dozen or so well-known Ahmadi groups.

Flashpoint - Kerisian Communist League attack in Dolgavia

In Dosne, Dolgavia the Kerisian Communist League has claimed responsibility for an attack that left 47 dead and 184 injured. The attack, carried out in the regions capital of Sinaži. The attack was carried out on a winter market on a Saturday morning, of the 47 dead, 10 of them are children underneath the age of 18. The Dolgavian government condemned the attack and the information released by the Dolgavian intelligence and security services points to the KCL using the dark web, sometimes known as the deep web as a means to communicate and purchase materials. The Dolgavian State Communications and Signals Bureau, the nation's signals and communication intelligence branch, stated that they had found the website where the KCL had purchased the materials, it was located out of a remote area in Dovani. The SCSB noted that the terrorist used a primitive encryption application to cover their communications, something that they also found on the dark web. The attack was carried out by placing explosive devices in trash cans and locations around the winter market, the KCL formally declared that they had been targeting members of the Public Security Bureau and members of the ruling Party of Regions and government officials who had attended the winter market. Several dozen suspected members of the KCL, and reports that the perpetrators of the attack, were arrested by the Security Police Bureau and members of the Special Purpose Unit, the special forces of the Armed Forces of Dolgavia.

Flashpoint - Dorvish and International strength to be tested

With the outbreak of hostilities between Hulstria and Kazulia, the rising power of the Dorvish Republic will be tested. It is without a doubt that Dorvik has re-established themselves as one of the preeminent international forces, ruling with an objective lens in the scope of defeating International communism and socialism, but also looking for peace in areas where it can be found. Dorvik is joined by a rising Dovani power in Hulstria, the traditional allies of Dorvik in Kazulia, the southern spear of Artania and Majatran's new star in Istalia. What remains to be seen is how leading Dorvish politicians such as the Minister of Defense Hugo Wilhelm von Salzer-Neuhäusser, Minister of Foreign Affairs Wilhelm Maria von Bahr, State Chancellor Hugo Landa and President Karen Kipping navigate the crisis. What is certain is that Minister of Foreign Affairs Wilhelm Maria von Bahr is making a name for himself both domestically and abroad, the rising star of the Dorvish Foreign Minister might someday propel him into the Dorvish Presidential Palace in Haldor with his tactical and strategic view of international affairs.

What is certain is that the Armed Forces of Dorvik lead by Inspector-General Freidrich Augustus von Rohr-Mauss stand prepared to do whatever is necessary, with the backing of the Dorvish Armed Forces the Dorvish Permanent Representative to the World Congress has announced his intention to form the World Congress Peacekeeping Office. It is without a doubt that the modern military genius Inspector-General is not without his influence and administrative genius, the World Congress Peacekeeping Office (WCPO) will be the hammer and anvil as well as the mediator in conflicts where the Security Council, and the World Congress, need to show their might. The idea stems from calls from the Dorvish FM to give the Security Council some bite in the rising tensions located in both Majatra and Dovani. The pivot to Dovani did not allow the Dorvish to turn a blind eye to the on-going "Thaller plague" as the Dorvish FM describes it that has descended upon the world with many nations taking claim to the Thaller name.

The Dorvish government has announced that they are recognizing the break-away Federal Republic of Kalopia-Wantuni setup several years ago by the Istalian Republic, despite tensions between Dorvik and Istalia the two former enemies have found themselves on the same side as they seek to stem the tide of genocide and violence in Majatra. The Dorvish Republic's coup was the foundation of the Tanus von Desidier Naval Installation in Kafuristan which permits them increased influence in Majatran affairs, the stalwart allies of Kafuristan stand prepared to do battle to protect human rights with their Dorvish brothers and sisters. It is of no doubt that the Dorvish strength will be tested, but few have any doubt that the Dorvish Republic will not meet the challenge.

Defense Weekly - What happens after the revolution succeeds?
What happens to a state's defense apparatus after a revolution?

Written by: Joachim Karlis von Rohr-Mauss
Former Minister of Defense and Inspector-General of the Armed Forces of Dorvik

In the wake of a rising red tide across Terra, many governments are looking either favorably upon creations such as the Coalition of Revolutionary Socialist States or looking down and further pushing against the rise of a Socialist/Communist majority. While many non-Socialist or anti-Communist states are looking internally and trying to protect themselves from the "Red Tide" or "Red Terror" some are asking, what happens after the revolution? One of the cornerstones of any revolution, be it socialist, fascist, monarchist, religious, any of these, the first thing that is traditionally conducted is a sort of "purge" of the intelligence, security and defense apparatus. While these situations are commonplace, many nations have sought to find research on what precisely happens. Numerous political experts have cited that countries that undergo ideological-type revolutions or coup's are more likely to experience a breakdown in internal administration due to the bureaucracy typically being reliant or largely made up of the ruling, political and ideological group.

The subsequent purges, to put it bluntly, cause a significant downgrade in military, security and intelligence capabilities for an unknown time period. The "military flight" as it is sometimes called, is usually caused by enlisted, non-commissioned officers and officers seeing the writing on the wall and leaving ahead of time or leaving when the "revolution" succeeds. One of the most damning qualities is that instead of attempting to reconcile or retain these enlisted, NCOs or officers, they are often condemned as the enemy or supporters of the "old" state. It is often that officers within high command, strategic, tactical and operational positions are closely or firmly affiliated with the ruling ideological group within the "old" state, sometimes they are politically appointed. When a new political group takes over power and forces these high ranking officers out, they leave a vacuum of traditionally inexperienced and simply more ideologically reliable officers in place of proven officers.

Many might cite the recent "Dorvish Revolution" which saw the historically dominant All-Dorvish League pushed out in a mostly bloodless coup by a radically militant socialist movement as a prime example of "military flight" in which the predominately conservative military, intelligence and security apparatus was forced out and forced into the service of nations such as Ostland and others turning to pure retirement in allied states. Dorvik, traditionally a stable and internationally involved state, has experience a sort of shock when it comes to its military, intelligence and security apparatus and this will have a ripple effect for several years until things can stabilize, new officers can be trained and brought up to par with now exiled officers. While some might choose to remain putting career over ideology, those officers tend to be less skilled than their counterparts, especially in a system such as Dorvik where merit-based promotion and the Dorvish General Staff system is emulated throughout the world as the basis for general staff organization. The Dorvish example is the most recent but is not the only one. In the event that units, formations or commands are ideologically reliant it might further prove that difficult as these units are traditionally better equipped or organized over others. For example, the Dorvish 10th Panzergrenadier Division was a front-line combat formation that underwent a number of campaigns throughout the history of the Dorvish nation, it is also one of the most ideologically conservative formations in the entire military. The disbanding of the 10th would cause a notable morale loss to the entire Dorvish nation and notably its military units.

Other situations such as the switching of the guard in Trigunia where within one political and ideological group another sub-division comes into power. It is likely that officers who are appointed within this traditionally ideological systems are replaced. They are, likewise, replaced with ideologically reliant but usually less skilled or trained officers who are supportive of the ruling regime in place of those who are promoted on a more merit-based system. While this is not to say that the Dorvish or Trigunia example means that they are any less a dangerous force, countries that undergo a significant revolution and provide purges to their military, intelligence and security apparatus are far more likely to have significantly reduced capabilities, notably in high command functions for a number of years. While nations are ranked and supported by the Zardic Institute for International Affairs, theyre power waxes and wains as it goes along. While a power might be ranked as a "Global Power" and possess the capabilities for overseas operations, it does not mean that they have developed the infrastructure to do so for extended operations. Nations that often obtain regional and global power status over-extend themselves and provide a focus for hyper-military functions that overextended their state and focus their bureaucracy on a total war footing when there is no actual war to be had.

Other examples such as Kafuristan (pre-Ba'athist), Endralon and others where previously unstable governments are taken over by stable political parties and begin to remove the often bloated and corrupted military, intelligence and security officials see a dwindling of their capabilities but overall are more likely to see improvement in a shorter amount of time. This isn't always the case but overall the research supports the improvement. As I have always said, even the most radical revolutionary becomes a reactionary the day after a revolution.

Terrorism Monitor
Terran Criminal and Terrorism List
August 5205 Update

Gath Defense Collective has published a revised and updated Terran Criminal and Terrorism List (TCTL) for its customers. Gath Defense Collective proscribes four categories of Terran criminal and terrorist organizations. Global are organizations that have global reach, regional are confined traditionally to a specific region but have the possibility of limited global activities, Semi-Regional which are organization that generally focus on a single region but have operations or conducted operations in another area/region, the final are local which are generally confined to generally a single country.

The Terrorism Monitor publish "two" lists, one focused on Global and Regional and another on Semi-Regional and Local groups.

Global and Regional
1. Majatran Mujadheen in Kafuristan (MMK (Israist); Global) - The Majatran Mujadheen has grown in the wake of instability in the Ahmadi Majatran regions; notably Kafuristan, Solentia and Badara.

2. Ahmadi State in Majatra (ASIM (Israist); Global) - The Ahmadi State in Majatra, similar to many other Ahmadi groups, have grown in the wake of instability in Majatra, notably in the Ahmadi Majatran regions. ASIM absorbed some of the Ahmadi States in Kafuristan's operations after long-time leader Abdul Qayyoom el-Hossain died.

3. Supreme Israic Council - Majatran Struggle Party (SIC-MPS (Israist); commonly known as "SIC"; Global) - The Supreme Israic Council, often seen as a "rival" to The Ahmadi State in Majatra has grown largely through its operation in Solentia (Supreme Ahmadi Council in Solentia) and its paramilitary wing the "Defenders of the Revolution" (Majatran: al-Mudafiein ean al-Thawra) commonly called the "Mudas".

5. Apostolic Army in Majatra (AAM (Hosian); Regional) - A Hosian paramilitary associated with the Apostolic Church of the East which is largely located in Majatra. Formally it does have operations outside of the continent. While it is often recognized for its humanitarian work some elements of the AAM continue to function as a pro-Hosian paramilitary.

4. Tarik crime syndicate ("the Tariks"; Regional) - A noteworthy Jakania-based crime family with deep ties across Dovani.

6. Abadi Army for the Protection of Kafuristan (AAPK (Abadi); Regional) - An Abadi milita that has existed for centuries and is widely considered to be "moderate" compared to the other Ahmadi religious groups and organizations.

7. Majatran Mujadheen in Dovani (MMD (Israist); Regional) - An offshoot of the Majatran Mujadheen in Kafuristan and setup operations in Mina and now operate in the north and eastern Dovani region.

8. Canrillaise National Association (Association Nationale Canrillaise; Global) - While largely confined to southern Seleya with elements across Canrillaise nations (notably Lourenne), the CNA is a far-right organization with strict belief that only Canrillaise should reside with Canrillaise states and governments of Canrillaise states should unify underneath a single, Canrillaise government.

Terrorism Monitor
Documents reveal SCARS founder Tayyib al-Kaba was a Republican Guard operative.
January 5311

The modern Ba'athist party that has been politically dominant in southern Majatra was formed on May 7th, 3408 as the "Majatran Socialist Ba'ath Party - Jakania Region" by the modern theorist of Ba'athism, Ra'd Mohammed el-Amin. el-Amin compiled various Majatran nationalist, left-wing and other theories and formed the first modern "Ba'athist" or renaissance in Majatran party. el-Amin would go on to expand the concept of Ba'athism throughout Majatra and later the rest of Terra over the coming years. As Jakania's native Turjak population eventually transformed the nation, the Kafuri branch known initially as the Nationalist Party for the Kafuri Resurrection and later the Majatran Socialist Ba'ath Party - Kafuristan Region, became the most prominent and remains a potent political force in southern Majatran politics. When the Kafuri branch of the Ba'athist party reformed and came to dominate Kafuri politics, they formed the Republican Guard which has become a potent paramilitary force that continues to operate within the sphere of Ba'athist politics even today, they have been involved in a number of operations against various group in southern Majatra. Their most notable engagements have been against radical Ahmadi terrorist groups such as the Ahmadi State in Majatra (ASIM) and their primary rival, the Ahmadi State in Kafuristan (ASIK). The Republican Guard has also had a hand in the development of Republican Guard-type forces inside and outside of Majatra, notably in Mina in East Dovani.

The Republican Guard eventually formed the Republican Guard Security Directorate, an intelligence organization dedicated and ran by the Republican Guard itself. The organization was formed of politically reliable members of the Kafuri General Intelligence Directorate and the Special Service Unit of Kafuristan. The Republican Guard Security Directorate, which exists today is an intelligence organization which has crossed international borders, recruits their members from across the globe and continues to serve as a sort've stateless intelligence organization. The Republican Guard as a whole has been dominated by Kafuri and the Kafuri branch of the Ba'athist party but nevertheless serves as a component of the wider National Command of the Majatran-based Ba'athist party. The most recent Commander of the Republican Guard known to GDC is Dhaahir bin Qadir al-Sadhi and his brother, Taajuddeen al-Sadhi serves as the Director-General of the Republican Guard Security Directorate. Taajuddeen was recently cited as being active in Dovani, some suspect in West Dovani, potentially in Statrica or potentially East Dovani in Mina.

An investigation by local Majatran reporters with the assistance of Gath Defense Collective has found groundbreaking news that the founder of the Supreme Council for the Ahmadi Revolution in Solentia, Tayyib al-Kaba was a Republican Guard Security Directorate operative. Tayyib al-Kaba, a native Solentian Majatran, was recruited by the RGSD in early 4690 and was discovered to be "...ideologically compatible with elements of Ba'athism and an opponent of the current ASIM and ASIK leadership structures." The RGSD continued to support Tayyib and his organizational efforts for radicalizing and unifying a variety of Israist groups in Solentia and prompting the Majatran people over the native, Dumandi people. In December, 4692 al-Kaba's handler "Alid" (Majatran for "The Hand") prompted al-Kaba to go forward with his efforts and al-Kaba formed the Supreme Council for the Ahmadi Revolution in Solentia in September, 4693. The Supreme Council for the Ahmadi Revolution in Solentia, commonly called the Supreme Ahmadi Council in Solentia, had become one of the main "competitors" of ASIM and ASIK, notably in Solentia where most Dumandi are opposed to ASIM/ASIK.

The formation of the Supreme Council for the Ahmadi Revolution in Solentia (SCARS) would eventually lead to the formation of the Supreme Council for the Ahmadi Revolution (SCAR) by Zorawar Ahmedani in September, 4893 when he took the organization world-wide and formalized its foundational ideology. SCAR has become a powerful organizer of Ahmadi-based parties throughout the globe, notably in Dovani and Majatra. The leak of the documents from the Republican Guard Security Directorate are a first for an organization that is often clad in secrecy and shrouded in "myth" according to former intelligence operatives in the region. The leak, unlikely to be publicly acknowledged by the RGSD, are groundbreaking for an organization that has sought to legitimize itself in the political realm. The Ahmadi State in Majatra and their prominent off-shoot, the Ahmadi State in Kafuristan, both call for the formation of an Ahmadi-wide caliphate. While ASIM and ASIK have theological differences, ASIM being Israist and ASIK being Abadi, the two organizations have nominally cooperated in their efforts and have been recognized as terrorist organizations by both the World Congress, Gath Defense Collective and a large-number of governments across the world.

Thabit Halabi, a Senior Fellow at Gath Defense Collective, notes that the RGSD likely sponsored al-Kaba's efforts in order to undermine ASIM/ASIK as a whole. "It should be noted that when the Ba'athist were in power in Kafuristan they were a primary combatant against radical Ahmadism in Majatra. They served as a sort've "bulwark" against radical Ahmadism, mostly from ASIM and ASIK, in Kafuristan and even beyond its borders. It is not surprise to me that SCARS and later SCAR was supported and founded as a means to undermine ASIM and ASIK. The efforts of the Republican Guard aren't "new" or "revolutionary", the often secular Kafuri General Intelligence Directorate "allegedly" did the same on a smaller scale with their support of various "controllable" radical Israist and Abadi groups. The Republican Guard however just managed to strike gold with SCARS and its eventual development into the world-wide Supreme Council for the Ahmadi Revolution."

August 5503 | Majatran Organization for Industrialization acquires Dovani-based Military Industrial Organization

The Majatran Organization for Industrialization (MOI) has announced the $2.7b LOD acquisition of the Dovani-based Military Industrial Organization (MIO), based out of the country known as Yerrawa. The acquisition is among the most recent moves by the MOI in acquiring different areas of technology. The Dovai-based MIO specializes in drone and missile technologies among other ventures, for instance MIO also has a aircraft manufacturing wing and several ground and arms manufacturing operations. The purchase comes at a time where the former MIOs ties have come into question within the country. Abdul Hakeem al-Moustafa, the Chairman of the Supreme Committee, announced the purchase with support of the wider Supreme Committee as a whole. The purchase will add a new layer of expertise to the already large catalogue that the MOI possesses, including the development of a new headquarters to replace the one being lost in Yerrawa. al-Moustafa has cited Mina and potentially Talmoria as a location where they might develop a new headquarters for the organization, including factories and R&D facilities.
