Caesarion League Premier, Octavius Constantine,
blasts the Union for Social Change at a press
conference in Mordusia's capital, Rechtenburg.Following a bizarre series of events starting with the removal of Mordusia's oldest two running parties, the Alliance Res Publica and the Caesarion League, and ending with this press conference, life in Mordusia seems to have returned to normal...for the time being.
It all started when the ARP and CL were stripped of their seats in the Imperial Diet due to investigations into the parties' recent activities. Anonymous tips to the Government saying that each party was secretly running operations in other countries disguised as political parties, and possibly even in Mordusia itself.
Following the removal of these parties, the Diet held special elections, where the Mordusian National Liberation Organization won out the majority of the seats. Oddly enough, soon after the formation of the new cabinet, which left the Union for Social Change in charge of the negotiations between the Holy Luthori Empire and Mordusia, the MNLO vacated their seats, just as the Caesarion League was eligible to return to the Imperial Diet.
With all of the remaining seats in the Diet, the USC and United Workers Front enacted many socialist reforms, designed to bring freedom to Mordusians and Mordusian companies. During this time the CL was on the outside looking in with no seats to their name.
After their call for early elections were denied by the USC, the CL gained more than a 2/3 majority in the Imperial Diet through conventional elections. With this new found power, the CL created a new cabinet, stripping the USC of all their previous positions, leaving them the Head of State and Head of Government positions, and giving several others to the UWF, and claiming the foreign ministry for themselves. Unofficial sources say that they bullied the USC out of their negotiating spot in the Luthori/Alduria/Mordusia talks, even before this cabinet was approved by the Diet.
Upon the close of elections, the CL repealed many, if not all of the reforms put into law by the USC and UWF during their reign, citing that they were "doing it for the people, empowering them with free will".
After relieving the USC from their negotiating status, talks have flowed much smoother, but recently have been in a stop and go status, making headway with many agreements, but also hitting many road blocks, which leaves the talks on thin ice at this point, with the Aldurian Delegation making the most noise with cries of outrage.
While the HoS and HoG of the USC have appeared during the talks, saying that they represent Mordusia, all eyes are glued on Foreign Minister Jessie Lu of Mordusia, and Lord Michel Frine of Alduria, as they exchange some heated words, leaving citizens of all three nations on the edge of their seats.
During this press conference with Premier Constantine, the Premier has done a good job so far of avoiding directly answering questions on the legality of the Caesarion Leagues dealings in the government. He has done a better job throwing insults and crude words at the USC than he has answering questions about the CL's schoolyard bully tactics in the Imperial Diet.
Premier Constantine has called the USC "a group of communist shitheads, who can't protect this country from a dead cow in Telamon." and claims that "they continually disrupt the peace talks to keep us from war. And they want to completely erase our military from existence. They want to do everything peacefully, and they don't want war, but they only put our country in harms way with their idiotic outbursts!".
While eager to denounce the USC, the Premier was quick to praise the UWF for their co-operation. And was equally quick to dodge questions such as "Did your party remove the Union [for Social Change] from the negotiating table before you won the foreign Affairs seat in the Diet?", "Did your party move elections back because you want to hold onto power as long as possible?" and inquiries into the removal of the CL and ARP from the government. One question that left him particularly red in the face, and may have ended the Q&A session after the conference was one implying that his party was conducting deals behind the scenes, working illegally, and questions the CL's intents, after they continuously denounced any notion of a party holding 50% or more seats in the Imperial diet. The Premier got up from his seat and yelled out "You [expletive] communist bastard, go back to the USC!" and promptly left the platform and got into his motorcade, and drove away.
