‘’Faction’’ leaders meeting the King?

Image

15 november 5407

Haldor, Dorvik – The Royal Palace in Haldor has broken it seems broken its silence and has send a letter, which this newspaper has gotten its hands on from a source we will not disclose to all faction leaders in the Staatsrat.

Sometime after the elections, advisors from various ranks of the nobility and the armed forced were seen entering and leaving the Palace. From inside sources it has come to our attention that the King has had various meetings on the situation at hand. However, the King has never once spoken on the situation, from leeks it also seems the King only listened and rarely gave his opinion, only asking questions in relations to the views of the advisors on the current situation. A quite normal occurance in a normal situation, however we live as we all know in uncertain times. Yet, after these meetings nothing happened, not even when the yet-unrecognised new cabinet was proposed to the Staatsrat.

However after the passing of the new cabinet proposed to the Staatsrat, the King spoke with high level civil servants from each ministry. Seemingly our King wished to be informed as the media spotting them arriving. From Palace sources the King wishes to govern in a good way and be totally informed, saying that without ministers and a Chancellor to inform him he asked the civil service to inform him directly. The meetings a week after the formation of the supposed new cabinet, starting the sending of the letters directly afterwards. In the letters – which we obtained from a source we will not disclose – the King requests an audience with as the Palace calls it ‘’Esteemed and leading members of the Staatsrat’’ to discuss their views on the stability of the Kingdom. The letter was very vague and not clear. The letter also avoids any mention of ‘’factions’’ or ‘’parties’’. From what we gathered all high ranking faction members were invited, however none of the faction members currently seated in the unrecognised cabinet were invited to come to the Palace.

Political commentators and royal watchers have stated that it is clear that the King intends to address the current situation in the parliament, a retired employee and long time advisor to the court stated that he thought the King’s concerns where:
I imagine His greatest concern is the divisiveness of the alliances within the Staatsrat, rather than fostering unity, they tend to be more divisive, perpetuating an environment where collaboration is often sacrificed for the sake of factional interests.

This evening various leaders of the parties have been seen departing for the Royal Palace, with the leader of the PfS already seen entering the Palace, being the first to have a meeting with the King and his Royal Council.

Markets stumble at open as new govt still unacknowledged by the Kaiser; "party" leadership summoned to the Königspalast
16 November 5407
The Dorvish Stock Exchange (Dun.: AKS Dorvische Börse) saw its worst open in twenty years today as weekend uncertainty shook investor confidence for the Monday open. Index prices dropped sharply by as much as 6% in early trading before a slight afternoon rebound brought the day to a close down nearly 3% across the board.

The Monday Panic comes as the latest development in a continued showdown between König Florian III, who declared a state of emergency in the wake of the dissolution of the only recognized political party, the Hosian Conservative Alliance in late 5406, and the nascent "parties" of the Staatsrat, which the King has not yet officially recognized. Though several of these self-titled parties declared themselves to have formed a government several weeks ago, the King has not yet acknowledged this government as legitimate, leaving legal scholars befuddled and investors unsure. The situation was further mired over the weekend when King Florian summoned leaders from the "parties" to the Königspalast, but pointedly declined to invite members of the self-styled government. Experts believe that the King may be exercising his right under the State of Emergency to circumvent the "government" until he has confidence it will act in the best interests of Dorvik.

Rumors from the meetings have been many but little is confirmed. It is believed that the Konig will demand the Staatsrat address the ongoing market crisis, but the form that will take is unclear.

Where's The Center, Hansmacher?
Image

January 5407

Haldor, Dorvik - Zentrum means what, again? After a strong showing in first open election in three generations, Zentrum was poised to be the kingmaker for any government that would have formed. The leverage the party had was a mandate for a moderate, well reasoned leadership which would have progressed Dorvik into the future of political greatness. Yet just weeks after the election, party leader Karl Hansmacher agreed to have Zentrum join a right-wing coalition that appears to have all the trappings of the HKA. While no one questions the bold choice of His Majesty the King to secure our nation from the chaos of a lack of coherent government, it is the platform of parties that appear to continue the State of Emergency beyond the emergency itself that has left people worried. Yet Hansmacher and Zentrum have provided total support for this right-wing message, caring not for the millions of free-thinking minds that voted for Zentrum as an alternative to parties that hurriedly represented the old government. It is understandable, then, that His Majesty is hesitant in supporting this coalition. His Majesty and His subjects long for change in government and in progress set forth by his great vision. What is seen today is a lack of vision by the Zentrum leadership, seeking power over platform, servitude over leadership, unquestioning loyalty over unabashed freedom. Voters will remember this choice, and later choose an alternative if Zentrum does not change course from this rightward swing towards stagnation.

Achtzehn Tage - FM von Gath visits closest allies in surprise trip in show of stability
Ruth Oppolzer | Haldor, Greater Kordusia |14 January 5408 (backdated

Despite lingering market instability at home and a continued standoff over recognition of the government with the König, Dorvish Foreign Minister Otto von Gath started the year on a surprise eighteen day trip (called the Achtzehn Tage in Dundorfische press) to visit Dorvik's closest allies to reassure them of Dorvik's commitment to its international responsibilities.

Von Gath first visited CSCO member nations Davostag, Hutori, Dolgava, and Kazulia, the first of which was undertaken under tight security given the unrest there. Von Gath's plane then turned southward over Dovani and landed in Nsanlosa, a country which is rumored to be interested in accession to the alliance. Finally the FM returned to Artania, with stops in Malivia (a fraught relationship, but a CSCO member nonetheless), Kundrati, and Dundorf anchoring the minister's travels.

At each site the FM met with the assigned Dorvish General-Plenipotentiary (Dorvish ambassador) along with representatives of the respective state. Von Gath's trip is seen by some as an attempt to pressure the King into recognizing the reality on the ground, which is that Dorvik has a functioning government. Others have noted that the FM was accompanied on the junket by representatives of the State Bank of Dorvik, an indication that Dorvish commitment to Wirtschaftsdiplomatie (Luth.: economic diplomacy") is unflagging, likely an effort to counter recent inroads from Lourenne in the international investment space.

Dorvik Königreichsbank President Calms Market, Sees Rally

pictured: Bank President, Johann Müller, at an international conference
January 5407

Haldor, Dorvik - Dorvik Königreichsbank President Johann Müller spoke directly to the cameras today, addressing the public concern on the ongoing market situation, and finding that "there are no ongoing structural concerns that would alert the Bank for the need of stock withdrawls". Müller, a seasoned veteran of economic crises and government-caused changes in market fluctuations, noted in his usual monotone voice that "the ongoing state of emergency is seen by the Bank as a precautionary measure to ensure the stability of the financial sector after a surprising change in a private organizations affairs". Müller went on to discuss in detail the nature of speculation market and thanked the necessity of speculators for "being alert to changes" but that the average investor should "be aware that party changes are not the same as changes that affect the wider market". The 52 minute long speech was a deep lesson into how the Bank monitors the health of the nations economy for anyone novice to economics. Those that work in direct Market sectors, meanwhile, found the speech to be a tedious reminder of the knock-on nature of their work. Alfi Ulm, CEO of AMIA Financial Solutions, noted that "the speech brought me back to my days in second year macroeconomics courses at university. It really was that dull." Yet that dullness and calm manor of speaking that Müller is known for seemed to have had an effect on the market. After the speech, stocks rose to their pre-emergency levels for the first time since the State of Emergency began. Reports of further meetings by faction leaders with market speculators to further build investor-side confidence is expected later today.

Decades of tension appear to be bubbling over as Yishelem and Haldor continue to trade blows in an escalating war of words, with Dorvish ally Dolgava quickly entering the fray. Tensions in Ikradon and Davostag led to a renewed Beiteynuese presence in Artania, which drew the ire of the Dorvish foreign ministry under Otto von Gath. Von Gath's ministry has been busy internationally, attempting to reassure historical allies that all is well in Haldor despite the collapse of the country's longstanding single party system.

In an appearance on popular late night program Heute-show the Foreign Minister responded to Beiteynu's recent "airing of grievances" (a term the sketch-comedy show ran with, see editor's note below).
Yishelem is quick to remind the world of times it feels Dorvik has not upheld its role as guarantor of peace and stability in Terra. This is not surprising to me. The late Marco Döhl was right, they're foaming at the mouth because we tell the truth! Yishelem has great interest in picking moments of Haldor's imperfection to paint a picture of themselves as perfect by comparison - but what if we paint with the same brush? Yishelem has all but admitted in the international limelight that it is spying on innocent nations the world over and almost assuredly led to the deaths of Hutori servicemen and women. It is all but proven that they contributed directly to criminal enterprise in Cildania to empower friendly puppets. This is an unclean country. They want you to think of Dorvik's actions because they don't want you to think of theirs. Perhaps their worst insult of all to Terra? They keep teasing a book and delaying the release! [audience laughs]

König invites leader with the most support in the Staatsrad to form a government in His name

Haldor, Dorvik – With the high uncertainty created from the newly formed government, which was not recognised by the King. The economy got a rather harsh blow, forcing the Staatsrad to intervene and show the nation that there is no need for worry. This has seemingly impressed the Chancellory and the Royal Cabinet to the King so, and in turn also His Majestic Highness, that He has invited said leader, Mr. Dreyer to visit him in this palace.

The further details of what was discussed further was not seen, the preffered candidate for the job of Head of Government refused to make a statement as he entered his vehicle after leaving. Curiously, just before his visit and after the visist various members of the higher ranks of the military visited the König und Kaiser. Why this happened was left unmentioned by the Palace who refused to comment.

Dreyer rumored to have presented government to the König for official approval; an end to the standoff?
Marco Schulz | Haldor, Greater Kordusia |10 January 5408 (backdated)
Image

In what many hope will be a conclusion to the ongoing standoff between König Florian III and the Staatsrat over recognition of the first non-HKA government, Party for Stability leader and Staatsrat-proclaimed Staatskanzler KptLt Raphael Dreyer has traveled to the Königpalast to officially request the King's assent to each member of the government individually.

According to sources close to the Staatskanzler, this ceremonial kow-tow to the König is likely the last hurdle in a long standoff between king and legislature over the latter's right to enact a government for the first time without the Hosian Conservative Alliance in three generations. Each member of the sitting Dreyer government was reportedly presented for the King and Kaiser to approve or decline, though it is believed that none were declined.

The King's representatives have yet to announce further.
