The Yishelem PostNihasim publishes paper on Artanian geopoliticsDecember 5412Yishelem, Beiteynu - The Nihasim University in Yishelem frequents papers on geopolitics with the Royal Academy of Lourenne, considering how most Beiteynuese diplomats in key foreign affairs positions have traditionally been its graduates; thus, with a keen interest in analysing situations.
SummaryThe change of pace now witnessed in Artania was first observed by the university back in
5360, during a period when Artanian states like Luthori, Dundorf and Kundrati began marking the first "cracks" in a traditionally institutionalised continent by the merits of Dorvish realpolitik. Haldor's gradual dwindling of influence began even further in
5346; not as a direct result of its own actions, but as an indirect consequence of two adjacent "pivots".
The rise of other Artanian leaders and, well, severe Yeudish meddling tracing back to the 53rd century.
As a result, for almost 200 years, Artania has been embroiled in a complex web of "power play" geopolitics, which the paper describes as the "underlying cause that triggered the change of pace but has also contributed to the lack of regional cooperation". The entire thing took a life of its own when Haldor killed what was dubbed the "triumvirate"; the trilateral relations between Beiteynu, Dorvik and Lourenne. Beiteynu and Lourenne joined up in one of the most tectonic alliances in recent world history, setting the change for subsequent "fights" between Dorvik and other rising Artanian leaders.
What has eventually culminated into the present situation is not a Beiteynuese-Dorvish "beef" - after all, both have been distant with each other - but an Artanian discontent of centuries of Dorvish hegemony, which has dominated the continent with its military bravado in foreign affairs.
The Beiteynuese fiasco in the Migrant's Pass was initially a "calling out" of Dorvish arrogance; instead, the entire thing ended up revolving around "Artanian superiority", with Yishelem and Eroncourt showing a noticeable level of weariness that went unnoticed by an Artania that seems keen on carrying on the torch of Dorvish conduct that got them here in the first place: "disregard if it's not in your benefit".
The paper concludes with an all around concern on the oxymorons of an Artania choosing to selectively play ball with the world, which will be met in the future with a similar disregard on the other end of the spectrum, achieving nothing when the dust settles and the new kings and queens will demand attention.
The Stage MakersDespite the significant influence of pressurers and drivers in this geopolitical "battlefield" in Artania, the stage is mostly set and made by the circumstantial pillars that usually adorn such cases of "changing the guard" in regional relations.
Meaning, where the game is actually played in the daily lives of Artanians, and not by obscure faceless governments.
- Ikradon, embroiled in one of the nastiest situations that Artania is not unfamiliar with in recent history - with the 2nd Malivian Crisis last century, 1st Malivian Crisis and its collapse the century before that, as well as Kundrati's civil war - with multiple sides vying for that "stage setting".
- Rutania, walking down the neutrality game and attempting to disarm "hegemonic tendencies" by calling for a summit that went unnoticed.
- Keymon, the one more highly to be underestimated but the one most likely to influence supranational cooperation, having led the charge in the previous cycle of the Artanian Union's revitalisation efforts; its alignment with Dorvish pragmatism will also likely play a factor that will most likely go unnoticed.
- N&D, as clear as day aligning with Haldor and offering Dorvish hegemony a significant ROI for its money.
- Malivia, the country with the biggest potential influence in entirely changing any kind of talks, anytime; sitting center stage between Dorvik, Luthori, outside influencers and of course, the Beiteynuese and Majatra eyeing interventionism with caution.
PressurersWhereas Yeudish pressure was discarded by its own faults after one of the most shattering blowbacks in recent Beiteynuese history, the Lourennais one is an altogether different story. A single article in the media can essentially tank or uplift Fort William's efforts at anything, with a simple snap. And the entire world will rally behind Eroncourt's word. Both states still maintain noticeable economic, diplomatic and military influence which Artania will meet with down the road.
As such, the pressure is not current; it is long-term. Artania's actions today will set the stage on how the rest of the world treats Artania in the future.
DriversAnd focusing on the center, we're met with the continent's 4 drivers; the Dorvish, despite their recent hiccups and large indifference to a changing world, are still relevant in Artania and heavily at that. Their economic influence is evident on the rest of the "Big Three". A single bark and it's game over.
- Luthori is undoubtedly the country that spearheads the sentiment and the one to decide what the battlefield will look like once the dust settles.
- Dundorf has always represented an extension of Dorvish pragmatism, realism and steadiness in politics; it can easily grab influence and lead the way.
- Kundrati is arguably the most underestimated country in the world; its military movements, its powerhouse economy and self-earned gravitas over the course of more than 100 years now has empowered Kasaema to a level that it can probably set any agenda, short or long term.
