09.06.5408TREATY OF SCHÄRBACH: WHAT IT MEANS FOR THE FUTURE OF MIKUNI Historical agreement in Ostland to reunite Mikuni-HulstriaThe treaty of Schärbach has been signed by the two parts: the kiennese government represented by Chancellor Timotheus Huber and the separatist state in the south-east represented by its President Masako Watanabe.
This treaty signifies the end of a political crises that started eight years ago when the Economic Freedom Fighters, the dominant party in Kunihito majority districts, announced the intention to create an independent state in the south-eastern regions. The move came after the tyrannical regime of Heinrich Sato changed the constitution in order to register citizens' ethnicities and discriminate against any non-hosian and non-hulstrian. Surprisingly the WDU didn't intervene, and some foreign governments, such as Dolgava's, supported the tyrannical regime in Kien, thus isolating the separatist government in Miyako in its effort to protect Kunihito rights and dignity.
But the situation has changed: the regime in Kien has fallen and the old constitution was partially restored, and the West Dovanian Union has decided to intervene to secure democracy and human rights in Mikuni-Hulstria.
The agreement concerns two main points: Authonomy for Gao-Soto and involvement of the WDU.
As for the authonomy, a special status will be guaranteed to the nine provinces in the south-east. This means the constitution will be amended in order to create a subnational "Parliament of Gao-Soto" located in Miyako. Therefore the old name "Hulstria and Gao-Soto" will technically be appropriate again, even though the official name for the united state will remain "Plurinational State of Mikuni-Hulstria". The name chosen, "Gao-Soto" was the name used originally to indicate a huge pre-dovanian empire in Dovani, ruled by a Kunihito dynasty, and it has been revived to indicate the core area of the old Empire, roughly equivalent to the modern state's south east.
As for the WDU, the Union commits itself to safeguard the democratic process and inter-ethnic peace in the country for a ten years period. The Dovanian Defence Organisation joint command will therefore deploy its soldiers in the country as a safety measure.
Both Huber and Watanabe have declared to be satisfied with the treaty's outcome and enthusiastic for the country's bright future that lies ahead.
