Hutori Signs Massive new Contract with Lodamun on the Althorcaea ShelfRoccato & Isle of Sutton Premier Daniel BanfieldWith the completion of Dorvik based Nord Oil-Hutori's 99 year lease on the Althorcaea Shelf many in the business community were curious whether Bekenial would renew the century long lease. Dorvik and Hutori, formally two of the closest nations on Terra, have grown increasingly further apart following Dorvik's fall from grace on the international stage. Nord Oil-Hutori had been given the exclusive rights to 55% of the Althorcaea Shelf, south of the Isle of Sutton, amounting to approximately 11% of Hutori's total oil reserves.
The decision has ultimately been made to award it to follow Commonwealth member, Lodamun based companies Jackson Energy & North Seleyan Petroleum. At an announcement in Kincardine, Roccato Premier Daniel Banfield was joined by Federal Minister of International Trade & Economic Development Bryan Perrault, Chief of the Owise Nation George Whitepaw along with CEO of Jackson Energy James Robertson and NSP Senior Vice President of International Operation Harley Webb. The announcement stated that the two Lodamun based companies would split the 55% of the shelf between the two of them, receiving significant tax incentives from the Hutorian Federal Government for sustaining the business and the employees that Nord Oil-Hutori formally employed. The negotiations reportedly took longer then expected from push back from the Owise Nation, who have been concerned about international companies exploiting their natural resources; the Althorcaea Shelf is nominally owned and controlled by the Mashacara Owise Nation, though granted to be allowed to be managed under a trust jointly between the Federal and Provinicial Government.
According to rumors it took Crown Princess Erika, the Princess of Adelia, personally intervening in the situation to ultimately sooth over the situation and give royal assurances on the Treaties between the Owise Nation and Bekenial to ultimately win them over.
