New Compromise falters, Election conclusive
USA's Shepard new chancellor, IEF gains majority, SCI plurality
MAGRATHEA, June 3094
After years of negotiation, the compromise agreement fell through when the CFP wouldn't moderate on their stance of democratic worker's cooperatives. The fallout between the CFP and FFP happened right before the scheduled elections. The Centred Cabinet Coalition did serve the full term, but had seen little active policy making due to the lack of finishing the compromise. The mastermind behind the proposed accord, USA, suggested to let the election pass before seeing if negotiation must be resumed. Both the RMS and AL also showed disgust at the negotiations. whilst the SCI and DT showed disapproval at the attempt, and at the compromise.
After the election result has come in, it was clear that the IEF bloc had managed to gain a small majority, and meaning that the compromise would not need be reopened for discussions again. IEF would also celebrate a proxy-victory, with the IEF-backed USA candidate, Cdr. Jean Shepard, capturing the Chancellorship from incumbent Leoba Fielding of the RMS and LL. This is the first ever Chancellor-elect for the USA in their entire history. To cap off a historic election, the SCI managed to gain a clear plurality. As a result, new Chancellor Shepard, who had written, and negotiated the compromise the previous term, had now asked the SCI to find a suitable government, recognizing the win of the SCI, the victory of the IEF as well as the fallout of the Compromise. The new cabinet is now being negotiated, with the USA joining the IEF in government.
