Reserve Currency

Talk and plan things about the game with other players.

Should there be a 59th currency with a value that floats?

Yes; nations would be discouraged from cheating.

It is okay to include it in the spreadsheet, but I will use one of the static currencies.

No; allow nations to cheat by inflating their GDPs.

Reserve Currency

Postby Siggon Kristov » Sun Mar 31, 2013 8:30 pm

I want to make a 59th currency that doesn't have a set value. All the game's currencies have static values, i.e. they never change.
Remember, this is completely an IC project, so I'm tying it onto my characters; you're free to suggest names for the currency, but the abbreviation will be "KRV"

The reason I won't use LOD (or BEL) is that I don't want my currency converter to lose credibility for altering the values.
Remember that this new currency won't have a set value. I'm going to make the value of it, in your currency, dependent on the health of your economy.
For example, if a nation cheats by going into debt, to increase their GDP beyond their potential GDP (which would be inflation), it would reflect negatively through their currency value when weighed against this new currency.

I'll soon release a new version of that Macro-Economics thing, which allows the statistics to be measured in all currencies, instead of just LOD or BEL.
What I want to know is whether anyone thinks I should include this new currency or not, though I'm going to make it anyways.
The spreadsheet will still allow you to use the static currencies instead.

:? the Karavs are forcing me to do something more "Karav-ish" so I put "Karav Reserve" as a placeholder.

I'm afraid to name it something with "Terra" since maybe not all players will like the idea of this floating currency, and since it's a concept of a currency my characters have issued.

Is "Karav Reserve" okay, or should I change it? I finished the spreadsheet, but I'm waiting for your approval before I release it.

I think nations could have able to cheat but floating currency is a great idea and it should also implemented to game too.

No changes can be made to the game, unfortunately.
According to Wouter, the code is old and making changes may "break" the game.

Everything will be left up to individual players' recognition of what is what.

I prefer to use the static currencies. Besides, using LOD benefits the RUT the best since it would be the second most valuable currency in Terra if we went down that path.

The RUT is the most valued currency when weighed against it, because Lodamun is in debt and it affected its weight against this new currency.
The LOD is now the 2nd strongest currency.

Don't worry... the spreadsheet still allows you to use static currencies.
You are allowed to use KRV, or the currency of any nation which has already ratified the treaty (the spreadsheet actually checks which nations have ratified the treaty).
