Knzsrlji Temrkaiék Brnkaékai orzy Beíték Hydwasj'mogadé Vraljogad grzy rklem'ojuojetak
Royal Keeper of Temrkai's Breed to care for Beiteynuese Camel Herd
1 March 5358

BAOFLUZ, Prjmor Taghe, Jelbék Khanate Following the arrival of a Beiteynuese delegation with a tribute of an auspicious 47 fine dromedaries, The Great Purple Wolf has decreed that the Beiteynuese camels shall be the charge personally of the Knzsrlji Temrkaiék Brnkaékai (Luth: Royal Keeper of Temrkai's Breed), whose care is reserved only for the most highly regarded creatures in the royal herd.

This great honor is not lightly bestowed and represents a significant gesture by the Khan in response to an overture of friendship by one of Majatra's powers. Experts note that few animals foreign to Jelbe are granted the care of the Brnkaékai, who's stable is the home of the horses of Temrkai's Breed, those horses descended from the mount of the great Temrkai Khan.

The grant has significant geopolitical meaning, as well. Jelbe has expressed discontent at the rearmament of its southern neighbor Deltaria's aircraft carrier. Jelbe's request for explanation was met by Deltaria with condescending offers for Deltaria to unilaterally defend Jelbe, which were reportedly met by laughing disdain at the court of the Great Purple Wolf and which were not responded to formally. Deltaria has since continued unprovoked provocations with Zardugal and further rearmament, leading Jelbék experts to conclude that Deltaria's position toward Jelbe can only be one of aggressive intent, despite flowery missives stating otherwise.

Beiteynu, then, seems a natural ally for the Jelbék Khanate. Yishelem offers great respect to the Jelbék way of life in its overture, and that respect is repaid in kind. Only time will tell if further ties will flower on the steppe.

Kafuri aggression draws response from Baofluz
8 July 5398

BAOFLUZ, Prjmor Taghe, Jelbék Khanate Though Jelbe's presence on the international stage has been minimal for some time, Baofluz today engaged in a flurry of action in support of Beiteynu, which has been painted the scapegoat for a regime Baofluz labels as "illegitimate" in Kafuristan.

Jelbe's representatives to the MSCO spoke in open support of Beiteynu and the Hrltaj promptly passed sanctions on the Kafuri regime aimed at lessening the blow of an oil embargo on Beiteynu, and at isolating Kafuristan further than it has already isolated itself. Jelbe's ministry of foreign affairs is said to be actively encouraging other MSCO states to enact similar sanctions.

Experts note that though Jelbe's imports of Kafuri oil and natural gas are small, they have risen some in the period since Kafuristan's regime announced its embargo on Beiteynu, leading some to suggest that Beiteynu may be purchasing Kafuri oil through Jelbek front companies. This suspicion appears to have been confirmed with the passage of Jelbek sanctions, which notably do not take effect until and unless Kafuristan places sanctions on Jelbe directly. In that event, all transfers of goods and services with Kafuristan will be embargoed by Jelbe, and punitive tariffs will be enforced on all non-MSCO nations which continue trading with Kafuristan.

Jelbek ties to Beiteynu have grown stronger and stronger as the MSCO has provided decades of stability on Majatra. Baofluz openly acknowledges the role Beiteynu plays as central to the MSCO security apparatus and has pledged its full support to Beiteynu in any conflict. Jelbek exports of food stuffs and raw materials, though relatively low in volume, are thought to be of enough consequence by Baofluz that it has rolled the dice in support of its Yeudish neighbors. Commentators note that with these policy changes economic recession may be inevitable in Jelbe, but the extent to which that can be borne by the Jelbeks is yet to be seen.

"No Jelbeks in Kafuristan", claims Baofluz, accuses Kafuri regime of arresting its own citizens in "propaganda stunt"
3 August 5398

BAOFLUZ, Prjmor Taghe, Jelbék Khanate In response to reports that Kafuristan's illegitimate regime has arrested 10 Jelbek citizens accused of espionage, the Foreign Ministry has made the questionable assertion that no Jelbek citizens are in Kafuristan and the arrests therefore either did not occur at all or were instead likely arrests of Kafuri dissidents who are now being portrayed as foreign nationals for propaganda purposes.

Commentators and experts have quickly pointed out it is unlikely that the administration's contention that zero Jelbeks were abroad in Kafuristan could possibly be true, but it is difficult to ascertain in this case both because the Kafuri regime did not release details on the alleged Jelbek arrestees and because the Khanate does not maintain any register, optional or otherwise, of nationals traveling abroad. No Jelbek airlines or cruise companies connect directly to Kafuristan - but no Jelbek airlines or cruise companies connect directly to anywhere other than Vanuku, Deltaria, and Zardugal.

Notably, no families in Jelbe have come forward acknowledging missing or unaccounted for loved ones after travel to Kafuristan. Commentators also note that this may not be unexpected - much of Jelbe remains extremely rural with little opportunity for families to contact those overseas, and access to all but local media outlets is exceedingly rare outside Jelbe's major urban areas.

Kafuristan also noted the arrest of Wrnukek and Beiteynuese citizens in its announcement - both nations with considerably larger international footprint and security and intelligence apparatuses. Jelbek commentators could not speak with confidence as to whether there may be truth to allegations of espionage on the part of those nations, but Baofluz maintains that it and its allies are not engaged in espionage against Kafuristan's regime and that these arrests, if they occured, are just more evidence of that regime's inhumanity.

With Badaran opening, Jelbek economy feels sting of Kafuri embargo, eyes opportunity
6 July 5399

PRSAKIJSRLJITRK, Rilmos Taghe, Jelbék Khanate Though Badara announced an important opening of energy exports to the MSCO at to offset the impacts of an embargo enacted by the rogue regime in Kafuristan, demand from more affluent nations has left Jelbe to largely fend for itself in Terra's volatile energy market.

In Prsakijsrljitrk, a port town in southeastern Rilmos Taghe which handles the bulk of Jelbek trading volume on the Sea of Majatra, longshoremen have experienced layoffs and mandatory paycuts unlike any seen in recent memory as fuel and luxury good imports, for which Jelbe is almost entirely dependent on international trade, have declined dramatically. Elsewhere, the lack of these goods is putting the squeeze on Jelbek pocketbooks. Already an extremely poor nation, fuel prices have risen significantly in Jelbe, a phenomenon observed elsewhere but perhaps more impactful in a place where the bulk of the population still works in extraction and basic industry. Experts warn that should the markets remain volatile for more than six to eight months, undernourishment and disease may become major issues in Jelbe's rural areas as they have in previous instances of economic turmoil.

In a twist on usual international expectations, however, Jelbe's rural areas have proven themselves remarkably resilient in past even when such conditions arise. Though fuel may soon become practically unattainable in some reaches of Jelbe's steppe, these areas tend to be isolated in the first place, and are already engaged in migratory patterns that do not rely heavily on petrochemicals for basic survival. Some experts have noted that this is a factor historically in the maintenance of Jelbe's remarkably stable clan and khanate systems. Undernourishment and disease are so regularly on the horizon, it is said, that they are not generally perceived as failings of the central government (such as it is), but instead as personal or regional failings, or (in more extreme cases) as the will of divine beings.

Baofluz has historically taken these facts for granted. Cynics suggest, however, that increased globalization in the recent past as Jelbe has opened itself to the MSCO and to (new) Beiteynuese and (further) Wrnukek investment and development has marked a significant enough shift in these patterns that they should no longer be taken as sureties. Even in the year since the Kafuri embargo began, this trend has accelerated, with renewed foreign-led investigation of further exploitation of oil and gas deposits around Lake Majatra in southern Jelbe which have historically been tapped only lightly due to the high cost and difficulty of extraction there. It remains to be seen how successful these efforts will be, and whether their impact might ultimately be a step toward the long hoped for "taming of the steppe" which has eluded so many Khans in the past.
