Third World Information

Postby Moderation » Sat Jan 12, 2019 6:52 am

Background
This thread contains some information on the game's non-playable nations, represented by the large grey section on the eastern part of the world map, and known for in-game purposes as the Third World nations, the former colonial nations or simply the ex-colonies. Most of the current Third World nations were originally "colonised" by players in the game's playable nations but it was eventually decided that the colonial system should be brought to an end. Since then, the ex-colonies have been managed by the Global Role-Play Committee and its predecessor the Global Role-Play Team.

Player control
Moderation allow players to take control of Third World nations. Interested players must have a forum account which is over 30 days old and must be in good standing with the Particracy Game Rules. In order to apply for control, they should post a request in the Third World Control Requests thread containing the name of the nation and an outline of their plans. Players may request control of any unoccupied nation, nations that are currently controlled cannot be applied for unless the player is considered to be inactivate with the nation by Moderation. The ultimate decision on controlling Third World nations lies with Moderation who will take decisions on whether to approve applications.

Players in control of Third World nations are permitted governance over all domestic and foreign affairs however cultural matters are restricted by the nation descriptions in this thread. Nations are still bound by the Global Role-Play Accord and population data can be found in this thread. Like playable nations, Third World Nations are members of the World Congress and may contribute to its discussions. Third World nations cannot be directly controlled by playable in-game nations (in other world, recolonised), they are intended to enable role-play opportunities which may not otherwise be possible. Players are expected to respect the established role-play history of a Third World nation they control. Ultimately, Moderation and the Global Role-Play Committee reserve the right to revoke a player's control of a Third World nation at any time and for any reason.

History and culture
The culture of the Third World nations is prescribed by the nation descriptions in this thread. As in the case of cultural protocols for playable, in-game nations, these descriptions are theoretically subject to change but players should gain specific clearance from Moderation and the Global Role-Play Committee before altering the fundamental culture of a nation. Most Third World nations have indigenous groups in addition to the cultural legacy of colonisation. In many cases, the language of the country's most significant coloniser remains dominant in governmental or intellectual spheres. More detailed information about each of the Third World nations can be found through the Particracy Wiki.
